This post is funny. Let's see, WOW which is released has 9 million subscribers. Warhammer Online which is not released has 0. Let's break down the these numbers shall we:

    9,000,000 > 0

WOW has nothing to be nervous about. They are operating at a huge profit. WO is operating in the red.

If anyone should be nervous it should be Warhammer Online because expectations at launch will be running high, and if they don't deliver it will be a huge let down.
QFT. WAR is so incredibly overhyped it's not even funny.

As far I can read in all does post, people seems to know that WoW will atleast be up for a lifetime. No other game that's going to be releast the coming years can affect Blizzards posistion.

    or...

Sooner or later WoW will die out, that's just the natural line for games.

And if they're put more effort MMORPG.com can create a 'Team Sceptic'
and send them to the Special Olympus.

Blizzard has the funds at this point to copy pretty much everything that other games are throwing out.  AND still add few of their own features.   If we take LOTRO for example - Blizzard does now have ingame voice chat even tho noone is actually using it.  Already they are implementing most of the features that WAR and other new MMOs have already announched.  Thats why most of the new games are not saying to much just to give them this little bit "new" when it launches.

But what I do know is that MMORPG making a "Hero" class and telling players to stop playing their old characters is a HUGE flop from Blizzard.  They obviously dont know what MMORPGs are all about.

The fact is, nothing lasts forever.    Everything dies eventually.  WoW is an old game.  I remember when everybody thought that Everquest  would forever be in the lead.  It may look like an insurmountable lead at this point to the narrow minded, but change is the only constant in life.

As far as I see it, WoW is missing an essential ingredient in its' weak PvP implementation to the hordes of pvp players out there.  That's WoW's Achilles heel, if you will.  They've tried many, many times to overhaul their pvp system, but it always ends up being a big steaming  pile of dog s**t.  WAR, on the other hand, is being built from the ground up on PvP.  WoW doesn't have the luxury of just scrapping their current system and starting over.  So I seriously doubt if they can copy everything in WAR.. especially open world pvp.  Open World PvP is what will set WAR apart from WoW.  WoW just doesn't have the underlying structure to be able to support that.

I especially liked that ''.  So I seriously doubt if they can copy everything in WAR.. especially open world pvp. ''

Have you read stuff about Northrend?  Even though WoW er... May I say... Has lowsier PvP than in RS becouse of their habit of making the even greatest accomplishments at PvP a waste of time by bringing up new gear every season...

They are trying (Indeed *TRYING) to copy the Open world pvp at least for one zone in Northrend...

So do not tell people what Blizzard can't copy, as it only makes them to copy it... and FAIL.

The reason of this post is to say that : YES,they CAN copy EVERYTHING from EVERYWHERE but they will FAIL in it.

Then they have the nerve to team up with EA.. the most hated.. game destroying company in history.. they're worse then freaken SOE.

I disagree, I think SOE is worse than EA.

I think SOE and EA both get far more flack than they deserve. Everyone slates EA but how many people rushed out to buy Crysis and other games they've funded that weren't part of their 2000/1990 whatever ranges, I know I'll be in line the first day when Spore is released. Ok SOE probably actually do deserve a lot of what they get but mostly just because of their lousy customer service which to be fair nowadays isn't really just confined to SOE.

SOE also deserves it for fucking over hundreds of thousands of its paying subscribers in SWG by pretty much throwing all the hours they put into the game down the drain.

Some of you really need to learn how to read they have had 9 million subs over the whole games life time that doesnt mean they have 9 million active subs lol.  They have never released the number of current subs but its safe to say not all 9 million people still play WoW (Im sure it peaked when BC was released).  Its not like that is some untouchable number because I know world wide L2 had 7.5 million over its life time and at its peak 3.5 million active subs in the summer of 04 i believe.

I dont think WoW is to worried the only people they would lose is if some pvp players are still playing.  The games are way to different one is pve based and one is pvp based simple as that.

Ok that too, but they are responsible for EQ 1&2, EQ1 being arguably the biggest first gen MMO next to Ultima Online. Thankfully I left shortly before the SWG apocalypse so never had to endure the CU and NGE, I've heard it's getting better again and their actually making steps toward working parts of the old system into the new one.

Of course not but Blizzard just release that number to mess with people who don't actually think about what they're being told. Even if they did have that many active subs, the number of known active subs in Asia is 5 million or so (I'll have to find the link where I found that fact) which means that somewhere in the region of three or four out of every nine WoW subscribers are gold farmers.*

If i was blizzard i'd be getting nervous! war is drawing alot of hype due to the fact the tabletop game is fantastic (except for the model prices) and ppl have waited for an mmo like this for a while. I hope they make the 40k game.

Wow is a great game but when BC came out alot of content in the game went irrelevant that wa sunder 60thlvl. Alot of items in BC to me seem alittle to powerful......

Also wow is going on 2 years and after Wrath of the lich King it will start to decline...... War has plenty of new races and content to add after it's release.

wow is still a great game. i no longer play it but that doesnt mean ill say horrible things about it because i dont play anylonger.

Played : WOW, LOTRO, COH/COV, EQ2, SWG, and WAR.
    Playing EVE Online and AOC.
    Wtg for SW:TOR and WOD

it looks like you need to do some research before you go belittling people

    World of Warcraft's Subscriber Definition

World of Warcraft subscribers include individuals who have paid a subscription fee or have an active prepaid card to play World of Warcraft, as well as those who have purchased the game and are within their free month of access. Internet Game Room players who have accessed the game over the last thirty days are also counted as subscribers. The above definition excludes all players under free promotional subscriptions, expired or cancelled subscriptions, and expired prepaid cards. Subscribers in licensees’ territories are defined along the same rules.

    http://www.blizzard.com/press/070724.shtml

Here you'll see that they do indeed have over 9 million subscribers.

and if you're interested in seeing where their subscribers are, you can look at their 8 million milestone announcement, it breaks down their North American, European and Asian subscribers.

Who cares if blizzard is nervous. From my personal experience wow brought subscribers to wow, not to the mmo genre. Most of the people i know go back to single player games and/or consoles after they quit wow. Besides if u take raids out of the picture wow is pretty much a single player game right?

Only thing that really matters in the war forums is that the game is good enough to keep U entertained right?

p.s. shadowbane had siege warfare from the beggining, and the sieges themselves were very good exexuted imo, it was the bugs glitches and other problems like those that killed the game.
