Maybe its just me but im starting to notice that this game dies. Not only graphics become aged (only Eotn is nice but they should've updated the whole game), if you play prophercie or factions there are almost no people to group up with and to do some missions or quest like in the 'good old days'. The whole game is about grinding for gold last year(s) because everyone has full lvl 20's and want to get the best of the equipment. People that don't play over 2 hours a day had a nice game with guild wars the first 2 years but not anymore.....Maybe it was a mistake to make 3 diffrent campians which has split the people over all continents. If you need missions like 'The wilds' or so there aren't any people to make a party and have fun (if there are they only play HM). Currently I have 8 lvl 20's and stopped playing cause I don't see the fun of creating a new char since there aren't any players to play with and i want to get rit of a game thats all about grinding now....Even PvP becomes boring cause everyone has the same build and HA is only fun if you're high rank, which you never get since you never get invite if you haven't one :P What do you people think about it? Made a Poll and want to start a discussion in this forum.
I think that the game is dying for you. You dont need others to confirm that. It wont make GW less boring for you.
............................I only made the Poll to hear what other people are thinking and as you see over 30% thinks the same.........................
And 70% dont agree. And still it is meaningless to talk about it in a generalising way(unless they turn off the servers for good of course).
Only players that get bored with a MMO post something like this. These kind of threads are started all the time and about every MMO. As long as the servers are up, the game is alive. Just maybe not for you, that was my point.
BTW, I dont play GW (anymore) and I dont care if it lives or dies. To me it is obvious though that it lives, just by checking the websites that have a GW forum.

Here is why Guild Wars died for me. They announced Guild Wars 2. My heart heart just wasn't in it anymore. Yeah there are titles but it's jut to get an item or something in GW2 and that's not enough for me to grind them to the max.
They never should have announced Guild Wars 2 so early since it still seems so far off. Don't get me wrong I can't wait for Guild Wars 2! I think it will be amazing according to what the team did with Guild Wars. But yeah now I just want to play that and not Guild Wars.

That's so true. It's like I have an urge to create a new character, but then think "what's the point?" I'm only title collecting on one character. They could at least release more information about Guild Wars 2 to increase the hype a bit.

Anet won't release more information for quite a while, it's their main strategy. The only reason they announced GW2, is because they were going to release its prologue (eotn). Might get quite irritating, but just be patient. It's one of the only companies I know they won't screw up. Especially now the founders of Anet are also the 'leaders' of NC West, says something about the '1337 skillz' they have.
They should give the current players some new content to keep us busy though, just a few new PvP arenas could easily kepe me busy for another year.

Although the game still has a very good pop, I do feel that the game is dying. It is dying as we all do. Slowly but surely. When GW2 comes out GW may become a ghost game.
Of course GW1 dies. Thats why ArenaNet wants to develop a better game called Gw2. I have been playing GW1 for 3 years and I know the problems u mentioned. It's all about title grinding. ^^
In the beginning of title grinding there was no EotN. When EotN came out, people preferred grinding the new titles (especially the titles that enhance your PVE skills)
You sound like a PVE player, so I won't speak about PVP for now :P
Guild Wars is an Online Game. And especially Guild Wars shouts out his mentaiity. The game is called "Guild" Wars. I was in over 100 guilds so far ( no kidding). If you dont find any parties, it is your guild's fault ^_^
In the past I had the same problems. Now I found a good guild. Life in Guild Wars is completely different with that guild.
I played all major 'MMO(RPG)s and i am SURE that it's not always the game's fault. It's always the community.
Last part of my comment: Guild Wars is a PVP game. Its PvE is quite limited, so I can understand why the games looks dead for you.
One question for you: you have all addons, right? ^^

Ofcourse I have but i already stopped playing cause they ruin the whole game with their skill updates (perma form, ursan nerf which makes my monk useless to play as mission runner now, etc).....

They would ruin the game if they didn't balance it... Some people just don't get it, why do you think Guild Wars is still the best when it comes to structured PvP? Because it's the only one balancing like they should... They even hired 2 people to balance the game.
They nerfed Ursan because it was overused by farmers, while Guild Wars isn't really made for farmers. You don't need money to play the game, but still a lot of people love to grind money. And Guild Wars as/is anti-grind, it's rpetty normal they nerf farms.
And they especially nerf mission runners, because they wreck what's left of the PvE. What's the point of instancing (which they did to make quests, missions etc. better), when people just ignore the good aspects of the PvE? Guild Wars has a great storyline, because of its instancing system, if people just start running through missions, what's the point of having any at all?
You know it, the best way to realize your dreams is waking up and start moving, never lose hope and always keep up.
Guild War is just fine. It is one of those refreshing options out there that MMO players that finally are able to successfully roll a save versus the WOW spell.
To my shock today I logged on to play some AB and for some reason I was thrown back into the European districts. There wasn't a single person in said district. I then switched back to America where the district was near full. It seems as if the world is migrating to one region in order to maximize playability.

The Europeans don't play AB that much. That just came to my attention a few days ago when my guild went to AB. The district was near empty, and somebody asked us why we didn't go to the American districts. He couldn't say why he, and everybody else, wants to go to other districts though... Guild Wars special server technology seems to break some people. I even saw somebody asking in RA why we didn't go to the Korean district... Needless to say, he couldn't give a good reason to go there...

AB is about all I've been doing for over a year now. The Europeans definitely play AB - just not in their districts anymore by the looks of it. The European districts used to be teeming...usually at least 1 full district. Mostly 2.

PvE is dead in general, and AB is pretty close to PvE (really... ). So 'major' cities are pretty useless anyway. But RA is still quite opulated sometimes with 2 districts, only for eu dis eng, 2 for german, etc. HB is flooded when there's a tourny. The PvP arenas are still quite opulated. The only exceptions are the 'PvP' missions (which are pure PvE), because nobody does them. Or HA, because everybody goes to the id.

Guildwars is one of the simplest, fun easy to learn and easy to get into compared to most MMOs out there imo. I uderstand you get confused playing Faction cuz it is an expansion to the original GW which is GW Prophecies. Now, if you'll give it another try.. pick up the combo package that has GW Prophecies+GW Eye of the North or NightFall expansion in it (cheap now). Create a PvE character from the Prophecies campaign and play him up to level 10 or less in Pre-Searing (you'll learn a whole lot of how the game works and have lots of fun) then take him out of Pre-Searing stage then travel him to the Eye of the North or NightFall expansion campaigns (by doing a certain quest) and once you get there you'll get your personal heroes (level 20 in eye of the north and level 15 in NightFall) to help you in most quests and missions when there are times you can't find other ppl to party with. You can fully cuztomise your heroes skill sets weapons and armours. Then.. travel back to Prophecies campaign and continue on the story line quests/mission so you won't miss out on the details of the main story. when you're max level (level 20 which isn't long to get there at all) and feel that you're ready to tackle those 3 expansions then you may do so by finish certain quests to travel your character to either Faction, NightFall or Eye of the North back and forth at anytime you wish. I suggest do it in order.. finsish campaign Prophecies, Faction, NightFall then Eye of the North. So much you can do as far as PvE in GW and do it at your own pace... it is not like your account is gonna freeze if you don't log in for a few months. Free monthly FTW. Dont forget.. whenever you get bored of PvEing.. you can always go to faction and do some PvP with your PvE character for a fun quicky. Oh ya, join a guild... don't fight alone
oh ya, and there's always guildwars wiki to help you out if you get stuck with doubts on what and how to..especially if you wanna see wat all the armors look like
I did like Guild Wars at first, but think the main reason why I don't go out at buy expansions is because there are a lot of Free to Play MMO's out there that work very similarly from a mechanical standpoint. Even the graphics are starting to keep pace. So, pay for EverExpansion (like EverQuest) or play for free for something very similar? Hmmm...

Similar? You really didn't pay attention to the game mechanics, AT ALL. You are aware that Guild Wars barely has any Kill X quests, or Talk To, quests, right? And you know why that is? Because it is instances, they can create great quests. Something which no free-to-play succeeds in, even pay-to-play games fail at it.
Guild wars isn't gear-based at all, you can get max armour at lvl 6, and keep using that forever... And at lvl 14 you can start using max weapons, which you can also use forever. Compare that to any other MMO, where you have to buy new gear every 3-5 levels.
Those where the simple things... If you paid really close attention, Guild Wars can be seen as the most massive out there! WoW has 11 million players, divided over hundreds of servers, so let's say 100k-200k/server. Guild Wars has 4.5 million players... divided over 1 server! You can contant anyone, team up with anyone, fight anyone. I don't see any other MMO having continental PvP. Guild Wars used to have that (tomb of primeval kings/heroes ascent). Or Europeans fighting Koreans, Americans fighting Chinese, etc. Guild Wars is the only MMO out there, that's able to do such thing.
And it's all because it is instanced...

Wow has 11 mill registered accounts. That doesn't say anything about the number of players. I had 5 accounts total in 2 years with 3 friends but we all stoped playing and noone plays on his account anymore and we didn't sell it. So thats 5 for the 11 mill without any playing on them. So I think the acual number of players that played Wow last month is around 6-7mill, maybe 8. GW sold 4.5mill copies but looking at the actual players at peektime when traveling through all districts from major cities (am, int, eu-german/english/french) and the pvp areas I think the number of current players that played in the last month is more like 1.5-2mill max.....

You all stopped playing but are all still paying for your accounts? I take it you aren't as that would just be stupid. So, as has been said over and over again in this thread only PAYING accounts are counted.

It is still the 3rd biggest MMO on the X-fire statistic and WAR who is number 2 are dropping fast,it will probably be nr2 again very soon.
It is losing subs however because it is getting old and GW2 is just around the corner, I can't wait

Needless to say, he couldn't give a good reason to go there...
Well the populations in oly in american dis good. Even in major cities there is almost noone in european english district. Only european german are more but not as much as american.

Hope this helps.

No they count registered accounts....
Have you not read the press release?
