Why didn't the 2 italians simply download the game client and login to this MMO? I mean. aren't ALL the other beta testers logging in from wherever they happen to reside? Is anybody else not the least bit wary of this review....or of Darkfall? So much of what we have seen from the Darkfall team in the last few months is EXACTLY what we saw before the Dark and Light release, before the game Mourning (I think thats what it was called) was released a few years back, and multiple other games. It always seemed that everybody hated the game up until a few months/weeks before its supposed release when at that point the developers release JUST enough information to make everybody stop and think "Hey, maybe this game is actually ready". This "review" doesnt seem the least bit "shilly" to anybody? I mean its only complaints, if they could be called complaints, is that the control system and interface system are a little to complex but the author gets over those problems pretty quickly. This review just seems totally fishy. This game has been in development since what, pre-2001 and all of a sudden in the past few weeks the dev team has suddenly got it? They have had supposed betas, release dates, movies, dev chats, month after month, year after year, all of which promised some kind of great progress and all of which failed to produce squat. Release dates came and went, time and again. Beta dates came and went time and again. Even recent beta dates seemed fishy with proclamations of beta starting yet NOBODY HAS LEAKED ANY INFORMATION except for a few reviews from "official people". When was the last time this happened. When was the last time that such a controversial game had a "beta" that admitted actual people but everybody was true to their word on the NDA and didn't leak one bit of information? I have never, ever seen that happen. This seems exactly like what DnL and Mourning did. They let in a a few "beta testers", released beta "reviews" that were glowing reviews of the game, and then "released" the game, charging people money for it, only to have them log in and the game is a piece of shit with no quests, NPC's, lacking graphics, and only 5% of the promised features. Hopefully I am wrong and fans of the game are right, but it just seems like everything that has happened is a repeat of past game releases.

Though I will say that even their crusty video they released looked better then DnL. But this could be the worst "preview" I've seen. I mean "the rainfall can shadow the footsteps of an assassin behind you".....lol....c'mon.
Either this game is not launching this year because 90% of the promised features and content have still not been implemented and publicly tested yet. Or this game is launching this year and its only going to be 10% of what was promised. Sucks to be proven correct but this is just sad and pathetic if this is all they really have to show, 1 month from launch after 8 years of development.

That "review" bit just seems like an unfortunate choice of words to me. Obviously you cannot call what you write on a game after a one-hour stint a review. Particularly when it's an MMO! It's more of a a quick hands-on preview.
And it looks like this was just meant to tell people that Darkfall exists and that it has a working UI, movement and combat mechanics and an AI... And that the graphics are not horriby dated. There is a load of ground to cover yet with all sorts of MMO mechanics (especially since this one is very ambitious in those), but I don't think this quick preview was meant to cover or even test it. Comments on the real meat of the game will probably require some hefty playtime. I'm guessing we wait till an open beta before we get those.

Hmmm, you failed to mention that Asps, Yellow Beard and, now, MMORPG Italia all had positive things to say about the game. I guess there is some progress. Easily done. They have not mention city building, siegeing, naval combat, and large battles because they are doing character wipes daily. The folks from MMORPG Italia did not mention the above because they only played the game for a few hours; not enough time to build a ship, build a city, siege a city and have large battles.

Ah, so the basis of your questions is really since they didnt download the game client and actually went to the office than that means there is no game client. I guess the answer may come out later when they provide a more detailed description of what they saw. As of right now, no one has the ability to talk to the 2 italians to ask them. You are correct in your premise. However, if I remember correctly there will be an open beta and once the game goes live the first month will be free. In about six months we will all have our answers.

What's the problem, exactly? The devs have their reasons, apparently, for not *YET* letting non-NDA reviewers play the game remotely. Well where is your info Aragon100? All you are doing is bashing anybody who says one thing bad yet YOU have no information to back it up. I'm not talking about this "review" but where IS YOUR INFO? Your actual info from playing the game. Oh wait, you don't have any because you HAVENT played the game.

That "review" bit just seems like an unfortunate choice of words to me. Obviously you cannot call what you write on a game after a one-hour stint a review. Particularly when it's an MMO! It's more of a a quick hands-on preview.
And it looks like this was just meant to tell people that Darkfall exists and that it has a working UI, movement and combat mechanics and an AI... And that the graphics are not horriby dated. There is a load of ground to cover yet with all sorts of MMO mechanics (especially since this one is very ambitious in those), but I don't think this quick preview was meant to cover or even test it. Comments on the real meat of the game will probably require some hefty playtime. I'm guessing we wait till an open beta before we get those.
Game is not released yet..like every other not released game is difficult to "have it played" ..and even there is the NDA atm ..
Some People say exciting things about SW:TOR or Stargate Worlds for example (there is a sticky in general forum like "Stargate worlds will be the WoW of Science Fiction" ..do you attack them same way like Aragon ? and why not ?

Hmmm, you failed to mention that Asps, Yellow Beard and, now, MMORPG Italia all had positive things to say about the game. I guess there is some progress. After Asp writeup Darkfall was still vaporware. After Yellow Beards writeup Darkfall was still vaporware. Now after MMORPG Italias writeup Darkfall = Dark and Light.
Today its all about Semantics; Its a review not a preview. No its a preview not a review. Nice to see some of you still grasping on the hope that Darkfall will fail.
Quick edit: Darkfall wont be ready by 2008. Most likely Q2 2009. Once again this is a rookie development team delays are inevitable.
These people will still be calling DFO vaporware after it has launched, has a few 100k subs and it full of city building, guild wars and player freedom.

Obviously you didn't read any of Aragon or mines responses. I am criticizing Aragon100 because he makes claims about Darkfall that he says are TRUE, not things he thinks look cool. If you can't tell the difference then don't bother responding. Aragon100 is saying the game has this and that, is going to be the best game ever because of this and that, and then jumps on peoples throats when they doubt it. He of course has no first hand experience as to why the game is going to be so great and has no knowledge that the game is actually in the state that it is in.

And maybe for Aragon100 this will be the best game ever for him. You are correct that he has no first hand knowledge. However he does have knowledge about the game from various third parties so your 'blind fanboy' statement is false.
The trolls have resulted to nitpicking on irrelevant words like the difference between a "preview" and "review". I love it!

What's the problem, exactly? The devs have their reasons, apparently, for not *YET* letting non-NDA reviewers play the game remotely. They said in the same update that this would happen soon/eventually/whatever. Why? I don't know - good question. Does it indicate foul play, or have implications that we can reliably draw on the state of the game without incredibly ridiculous tinfoilhattery? NO.

Your question can only be answered by one of the two italians. My opinion is that they did what they normally do with games that are in production. They went to the site and tried the game out.
