they are not localizing the cut scenes? what are you talking about...theY are localizing the gameplay to fit with us .
Yes but cut scenes are in korean so they need to voice over that also when you click on a NPC everyone will speak and give you a text. All of that must change.
And yes they must change the gameplay to fit us westerners.

even tough i cant wait till aion hits us and eu servers this delay doesnt sit so well with me
for me it hints to the fact that the localization team is to small and that these kind of delays will become a constant for the game. in lineage 2 at some point they dreamt of releasing expansions simulataniously in na with the korean release yet they never came closer then a 3 month delay.
i cant understand how a company like nc wouldnt do the localization parallel to the developement of the game yet it seems they waited till aion was finished and then started to do localization. with almost 1 year delay (and possible more if they set back the release date again) what will happen to modification, patches, updates they do during that time ?
i also believe that this hints at bad code because no way it takes a year to translate content as in text files or voiceovers. i assume they have to do loalization on code level wich always is a bad thing and can only lead to trouble in the future.

You just can't win in the eye's of the public. Release too soon with a half finished game and people get mad. Release at a later date and people start QQing. But all that get's forgotten when the game is released and is in good quality. They will never be forgiven if its released late and is in crappy shape. It's the same song and dance for every mmo.
The thing is we're not talking about a half finished game. We're talking about a game thats already been released in Korea for 3 months now and will be released a full year after the korean version has been released, all because apparently somebody at NCsoft actually thinks people care enough about the text in the game to fully recreate the text by a bunch of dedicated content translators/writers, completely ignoring that most people don't give a damn about things such as quest text.
It doesn't HAVE to be shakespear material, most people are just fine with a normally translated game, people don't play MMORPG's for the storyline, I'm willing to bet most people haven't even spend 5 minutes reading up on the lore posted on the official website if it wasn't for the fact there is little else there right now. If people wanted a good and immersive storyline experience, they'd play a singleplayer mmorpg. Now I'm sure somebody is going to quote my post and tell me how much they care about lore and storyline in their mmorpg, well i'm sorry to say you're in a minority.

I for one DO care about the lore of a game also its storyline. Many other people do. There is a difference in between these players and the POWER GAMER such as you. The regular mmo players are the loyal ones while the POWER GAMERS such as yourself will quickly blow thru stuff and get bored fast then move on.
Games are just outring boring and bland with no story to follow. Most of us want to know why we must kill x or y mob, or do this or that.

If your the person who quickly accepts a quest and passes the text to go kill the mobs, thats you and your type of play, trying to hit endgame asap to then hit pvp or just down out raids.
I did play wow for a while but what kept me in the game was not the pvp or the raiding. It was the lore in the game. every time i finished it all i quit the game. I finished every quest in the new expantion and im done with the game, raiding is not for me and after all these years playing wow i have done everything i wanted. bliz got good money out of me but they gave me some good lore to enjoy.
Reading the lore of the game on the website already has me hyped up for the game . I for one wouldnt accept some watered down pathetic translation of the game.
Heck if you DONT GIVE A DAMN about the stroy, lore bah text whatever, Wtf is holding you up form getting the koren version and playing. The skill icons will be the same basicly that is all you care about anyhow as you dont read nothing of the game. Really whats holding you back?
I only care that the game is comming out, not how long it will be till then. There are plenty of things i can do while i wait for this one.
Oh and like i said before . FFxi was released one year to the us one year after it popped out in japan. in fact when we got it, one expantion pack was already released. we got it bundled together as if it was one game and it was utterly polished at release. The lore of the game was well translated ect.

No problem at all with this as long as the version released in Q4 is up to date in functionality, content and polish with the korean version is at that time.

to me, its perfectly clear that eu/na are not even second market for ncsoft, you can make a game with global population in mind or you can make it for corean audience and then ( once its released there, if things are going well ) begin to work in a translation to other markets, the second option is not a good one in my book.

Well, look, it's an eastern game and they think of eastern audiences first.
For lineage 2, the game came out after the korean release and the updates were about 6 months behind the Korean updates. And you won't be part of the beginning as that is not the NC experience. They do take into account western tastes but in general the modus operandi has been (at least with L2) to look to the Korean community first, translate then give th western audiences some version of what was released with the Korean audiences.
The only perception that this is leftovers is coming from you and others who for some reason feel that they have to be playing simultaneously with another culture as if them playing it first somehow diminishes any enjoyment you might get..
And I'll take that bet that we will be playing this year.

Well when I said "left-overs" I spoke from my own experience of playing a game that "think of eastern audiences first"
In my original post I meant to put L3 not L2, according to the link I pasted it shows time frame for L3 and other game releases except Aion which is strange. My point was not to trip-out about playing simultaneously with another culture because of course it is an eastern game as stated and of course that is where it will hit first. My point about the time frame is there is way too much of a gap on WHEN we actually get to subscribe and up to this very point we are still uncertain.
Last year we were told to expect good news in Q4, well Q4 came and went and we got nothing yet. That's why I'm not getting my hopes up for this year at all, when it gets here it gets here. As for the prize, nah you can hold on to it, I'm just in it for the fun

The omega popular Wow came out in america and europe and took a darn while to get to korea china ect. They got the left overs from the western developers didnt they. We tasted the pie before that did. The same thing can be said to every damn western game that was released here then is being pushed overseas. NO matter how you look at it is the same way on both sides. If the damn game was developed and produced in Korea then of course they will get the dibs 1st. Its the same as how we got many games way before they did, infact some games were never even published over there.
Also remember FFXi shares the servers with every platform and country the game has been released to. Unlike FFXI , Aion will give us servers for westerners and the europeans so we will start fresh we will not be getting the "leftovers"

It doesn't HAVE to be shakespear material, most people are just fine with a normally translated game, people don't play MMORPG's for the storyline, I'm willing to bet most people haven't even spend 5 minutes reading up on the lore posted on the official website if it wasn't for the fact there is little else there right now. If people wanted a good and immersive storyline experience, they'd play a singleplayer mmorpg. Now I'm sure somebody is going to quote my post and tell me how much they care about lore and storyline in their mmorpg, well i'm sorry to say you're in a minority.

I for one DO care about the lore of a game also its storyline. Many other people do. There is a difference in between these players and the POWER GAMER such as you. The regular mmo players are the loyal ones while the POWER GAMERS such as yourself will quickly blow thru stuff and get bored fast then move on.
Games are just outring boring and bland with no story to follow. Most of us want to know why we must kill x or y mob, or do this or that.

If your the person who quickly accepts a quest and passes the text to go kill the mobs, thats you and your type of play, trying to hit endgame asap to then hit pvp or just down out raids.
I did play wow for a while but what kept me in the game was not the pvp or the raiding. It was the lore in the game. every time i finished it all i quit the game. I finished every quest in the new expantion and im done with the game, raiding is not for me and after all these years playing wow i have done everything i wanted. bliz got good money out of me but they gave me some good lore to enjoy.
Reading the lore of the game on the website already has me hyped up for the game . I for one wouldnt accept some watered down pathetic translation of the game.
Heck if you DONT GIVE A DAMN about the stroy, lore bah text whatever, Wtf is holding you up form getting the koren version and playing. The skill icons will be the same basicly that is all you care about anyhow as you dont read nothing of the game. Really whats holding you back?
I only care that the game is comming out, not how long it will be till then. There are plenty of things i can do while i wait for this one.
Oh and like i said before . FFxi was released one year to the us one year after it popped out in japan. in fact when we got it, one expantion pack was already released. we got it bundled together as if it was one game and it was utterly polished at release. The lore of the game was well translated ect.

That means the Koreans will be 1 year ahead of us umm think about it when you get the free expansions all we could do is look at screen shots for a whole year until we get them here =/ Fail.
while i love games with flight and the graphics in this game look great, unfortunatly will most likely not even try this game.
No problem at all with this as long as the version released in Q4 is up to date in functionality, content and polish with the korean version is at that time.
And that the patches will be up to date after the release as well.

to me, its perfectly clear that eu/na are not even second market for ncsoft, you can make a game with global population in mind or you can make it for corean audience and then ( once its released there, if things are going well ) begin to work in a translation to other markets, the second option is not a good one in my book.

All I am trying to say is; I don't want this to be another FFXI situation all over again, I don't want "left-overs" I would like to be apart of the beginning, where me and the people I play with arent getting last dibs on end game stuff because one group of people had the game a whole year before us. I personally think that's an unfair advantage.

Well, look, it's an eastern game and they think of eastern audiences first.
For lineage 2, the game came out after the korean release and the updates were about 6 months behind the Korean updates. And you won't be part of the beginning as that is not the NC experience. They do take into account western tastes but in general the modus operandi has been (at least with L2) to look to the Korean community first, translate then give th western audiences some version of what was released with the Korean audiences.
The only perception that this is leftovers is coming from you and others who for some reason feel that they have to be playing simultaneously with another culture as if them playing it first somehow diminishes any enjoyment you might get..
And I'll take that bet that we will be playing this year.

Well when I said "left-overs" I spoke from my own experience of playing a game that "think of eastern audiences first"
In my original post I meant to put L3 not L2, according to the link I pasted it shows time frame for L3 and other game releases except Aion which is strange. My point was not to trip-out about playing simultaneously with another culture because of course it is an eastern game as stated and of course that is where it will hit first. My point about the time frame is there is way too much of a gap on WHEN we actually get to subscribe and up to this very point we are still uncertain.
Last year we were told to expect good news in Q4, well Q4 came and went and we got nothing yet. That's why I'm not getting my hopes up for this year at all, when it gets here it gets here. As for the prize, nah you can hold on to it, I'm just in it for the fun
This is what would concern me. Korean version of Aion is grind until you die. Western version "optimised" for sneeze and level casualness.
I hope that's not what they are doing.

what they are doing is making the quests more understandable to our culture. Instead of having inside jokes only Korean's would know and/or Engrish. They aren't changing how the game is played.

The omega popular Wow came out in america and europe and took a darn while to get to korea china ect. They got the left overs from the western developers didnt they. We tasted the pie before that did. The same thing can be said to every damn western game that was released here then is being pushed overseas. Infact some games are finally being intoduced to europe after a long time being out over here.
NO matter how you look at it is the same way on both sides. If the damn game was developed and produced in Korea then of course they will get the dibs 1st. Its the same as how we got many games way before they did, infact some games were never even published over there.
Also remember FFXi shares the servers with every platform and country the game has been released to. Unlike FFXI , Aion will give us servers for westerners and the europeans so we will start fresh we will not be getting the "leftovers"
