Somebody might have said this already....but I stopped at the 18th page of this thread. Big deal...I said before that as long as it is rated with such content ....then i have no problem with a penis being shown. It's not Hello Kitty online after all. Probably an easy counter to prevent such offensive material..offensive to some people at least...would be an menu option to allow or disallow such displays. Wow..cant believe this thread went on this long. Guess I didn't help it much.
"Context is everything" probably one of the best points in this thread and well I think in a game where you kill anybody, bang some hookers take there cash, run over pedestrains and various other mean and violent things. I think a penis is ok
And this is what GTA wants I remember GTA 1. To me it truly wasn't anything at all special top down driving running over people and seeing little red splats was semi addictive and decently fun but nothing really awesome but....but.... I think they started banning it in London and the hype went up. When you ban something not only do you get tons of press you also just told every american he can't have that and by god most of us will then HAVE to have it and will have it !
And it has grown into some amazing games afterwards its truly fun as hell sometimes for some no thinking fun.
Also this thread is full of awesomeness I really love how far some of you guys go to prove your point when ultimately there can be no wrong or right when it comes to OPINIONS. I was laughing in a good way at some of the stuff I seen and read and busting out Michelangelo to prove a point probably a little over the top. Sure video graphics can be considered art but do you really truthfully put something like a Michelangelo's sculpture up against a 3d Penis some dude whiped up on a computer?
Well, some female audiences might enjoy such an addition. I personally wouldn't, I mean if we didn't have enough sexual issues with people WEARING clothes...
"i have a lvl 26 maplestory warrior lvl 9 asda story archer and a adventure quest mage lvl 15 and my xfire is my bro's"
I wouldn't mind. But then I'm from Europe, and most here aren't that stuck up about sex, though even here in liberated Europe one sees the occasional wristslapping idiot who thinks their kids are in danger when they see a little nudity.
Speaking as a guy in his 30's who's pretty secure in his masculenity, I'd say "Sure".
Just as long as we're not seeing rampant erect ones or overly large wangs that a porn star would be proud to display. If I saw the latter one being the norm for the game, I'd feel a little less secure about my masculenity.
As a side note, games including such graphic displays of males in the game better have an equal share of artistically visible Vagoos on the ladies. Fair's fair.
The bottom line on it all would be - does the game have kickass gameplay in the first place, and these novelty graphics are just an added feature? If the answer's no, then we're back to the old Atari VCS version of Custer's Revenge.
I was around at the time when it launched, and believe me, the novelty of it really didn't go over too well.
All of a sudden GTA is an artistic expression because they want to through a cock in their rendering.....give me a break.....We all know GTA is rated mature and played by kids.
You can come at this like how you're suposed to and say that the game is for adults and therefore adult content is ok or you can come at it from the realistic perspective taht they are doing this to create controversy so more of their demographic, which we know is kids, will buy the game.
Video games are an artistic expression, a commercial one.....of course I live north of a country full of people that dont see the way I do on a number of things so I dont expect this to be any different.
There is proper context for artistic expression.....contexts that are logically dictated by a free and democratic society. Perhaps you choose to think that this type of "expression" is ok in a game but its utterly vulgar and cheap. I mean i really dont care at the end of the day but some of the responses in this thread make me fear for humanity.

Tut tut, now now, take it easy Miss Rekindle, now need to lose your bearings, perhaps its time for the medicine?

I'm assuming youre just trolling and really don't believe the crap you write yourself. If you do, perhaps you want to look up the words "free" and "dictated" in the dictionary.
By the way did you know that many of todays greatest artists like for example Van Gogh, Appel and many others where ridiculed in their day. For example Karel Appels works where considered and insult to art, his works are now worth millions, and Van Gogh who is now seen as the worlds greatest painter sold only 1 painting in his life.
The works of Fragonard, how is now seen as one of the greatest French painters of the enlightment, was at the time seen as a pornographer and to many more religious he was even seen as an agent of Satan.
Bil Haley's "Rock Around The Clock", which is seen by many as the first pop song ever, was at the time not only compared to porn but also to drugs (I'm sure you would be one of those people had you been alive at that time) and a danger to children.
The same goes to many writers, like De Sade, who at the time was prosecuted for his works but who is now seen by many as the first true libertarian.
In other words, if artists would have the same mindset as you do, and allow the contexts of their works to be dictated by society, many of the greatest works of art, would have never been made.Thankfully the mind of the artist is often rebellous and willing to break away from the "dictatorship" of the democratic majority, and to that fact we owe some of the worlds greatest arts and progress.

Anyways all in all a great thread
My favorite thing about the GTA games are the radio stations. IV has some really funny ones.
"big penis"
In honor of the Watchmen movie....
big blue penis please
how the hell does a thread like this have 256 (257 now) replies?!
It's like the entire community is just a collection of the official game's forum trolls.

The penis works in mysterious ways.
Wait... is it MY penis or someone elses?
Also, would it be flacid, erected or somewhere at halfmast?
These factors will ultimately determine my answer to the question.

This thread makes me want to buy this shirt, and then iron on a giant penis somewhere.
