Yeah I agree, pretty much every bioware game is like that.

As you proceed through a quest, each time you have to do something you usually have about 2-3 decisions to make that will each have a different effect on your char and quests later in the game.

LOl! its more than two years away from release and beeing argued over already. U don't know what the game is going is to be like 'till its out or you get a beta test key.  Whats the Fuc**ng point of this? nobody knows shit about it no matter how well informed you think you are. Its a Star Wars game and no matter how much of a cash grabing Jabba Mr Lucas has become. I'm still going to play it even if the exclusive collecters edition comes with a Ja Ja Binks freinds forever scrap book.

I'm hoping the game explodes for over a million subscribers so that it sends the whole SWG  Revisionists Cult  into a hissy fit.

The truth is, SWG already tried to do an directionless, open sandbox SW game and it failed. Star Wars has always really been about the lore, history, and characters, and it will be really hard to translate that into the MMO format.

GW is really the only game that ever got the persistent server and story aspects of online gaming right, and  the fact that they're borrowing heavily from GW is the only reason I'm even following this game.

Oh! and you bet im going to be a Jedi :)

Where are all these SWG crazies throwing fits every time info comes out that isnt an exact replica of swg? Are they on the official forums or something? I dont use official forums so i dont know. I've only seen a few post on this site, by people I've never seen post before, not in the swg refugee forum anyway.

I understand why some people have some desire to see the swg vets squirm, but not sure why people think kotor not being exactly like swg would be the thing to do it. SWG getting a million subs would make us squirm. We've been waiting since way back when people were telling us how retarded we were for thinking it was going to be a SW mmo. By jan '06 the swg vets on this forum had already declared it wouldnt be like swg.

Either people are misinterperrating saying we don't want a WOW clone as it has to be like swg, or I am missing something. Or maybe its the official forums, which like I said I dont read or use. It's certainly not the swg vets that use mmorpg.com that are like that.

IF i'm wrong then Id be happy to admit it. All I see here is people talking about swg players, never see any of the swg players they're talking about though. Hell i still remember people asking us why the hell we would want bioware of all companies to make a sw mmo, and why the hell we would want KoTor online, and why we think LA would give a shit about what we want enough to make a new SW mmo let alone pick the developer we wanted when they had no mmo experience. What happen to all those people that gave the swg vets shit about that? For real, we took alot of crap from people ( much deserved).

If anything, the majority of vets i talk to..TOR is the game we wanted. We loved SWG, but no one denies a replica wouldnt be profitable. We also understand to be profitable alot of the things we loved about swg would have to be changed, so it worked or couldnt be exploited. The only request we gave was not another clone please.

maybe im purposely not seeing it due to my bias, but i dont see it on this site. Biowares gonna do what they want..thats why they're getting paid. Thats why the people who participated in the original market testing said bioware for the win. We knew better than anyone devs do what they want..so we did our best to make sure LA chose the best devs. Just confused I guess where all this is coming from..especially here. Kotor being a success would be a dream come true for us blind soe hating swg cry babies. If you want to see us squirm, then make swg successful. TOR getting a mil subs means we were right:)

    See you in the dream..

There aren't that many of the "SWG crazies" as you put it, it is more that the very small number are disproportionately vocal in their viewpoint.  Though generally, when you read the list of reasons they aren't excited for TOR, it comes out sounding like they weren't even fans of the (very few) Star Wars aspects of SWG, they were just fans of the urban sprawl and the creature handler's pokemon mini-game.  They don't really want a new Star Wars game, they just want a cross between Sim City and Furbies Online.

I was expecting this game to be a lot like Guild Wars, but lacking the things that make Guild Wars great(like the awesome skill system), with a monthly fee. As for popularity wise, I can really see this game going the way of LotRO, lots of people buy it because of the franchise, but in the end it drops to mediocre sub numbers. Then LucasArts starts forcing Bioware to make drastic changes to the game because this is Star Wars dammit, it should be crushing WoW! All along proving they really can't relate to their playerbase's wants and needs at all. I think this game would be better off if it didn't have LucasArt's grubby little hands all over it.

Tried: LotR, CoH, AoC, WAR, Jumpgate Classic
    Played: SWG, Guild Wars, WoW
    Playing: Eve Online, Counter-strike
    Loved: Star Wars Galaxies
Waiting for: Earthrise, Guild Wars 2, anything sandbox.

I think you are being paranoid.  BioWare isn't SOE, and LucasArts knows that.  Any rational person who looks at the success of KotOR and BioWare's other games is going to realize that if BioWare can't make a successful Star Wars MMO with a free rein, nobody can, and LucasArts is probably smart enough to realize that.

SOE is just as much at fault. Bugs have existed in SWG from Preu-Cu to this very day, I'm sure LucasArts would have loved these to be fixed, but SoE seems to fail at making its fanbase happy. I do not agree with some of the changes in galaxies, but I understand change was needed. The game was broken and hardly immersive. I dont think BioWare is aiming to be more popular then WoW, no sane person is claiming this game to be revolutionary. And to be honest I could care less, aslong as the game appeals to me and gives me something to play with, I'm happy.

Havnt seen a very small but loud group either. More like a random poster with hardly any posts followed by 4 pages of the same few ganging up on people who don't post or comment. usually the OP is just ignored and the entire thread is used to gang up on poeple who appearently have no names, and are members of a pre-cu cult that invades every topic about TOR and spams pre-cu love even though the threads themselve don't exist. Not here that I've seen. Sure there has been a post here and there. Theres been a i hope its like wow post here and there too. But this forum should be covered with swg vets crying from the way they are talked about, but its not any that I know, or have seen post before, or have enough post to be considered one of the fanbois you guys are talking about.

I said it before..the pre-cu vets are getting exactly what we've been hoping for all these years. Go check out all the rumors and info we've collected over the years. We've been waiting for this game for longer than anyone, and we are getting precisley what we asked for from LA. A new SW game made by the best dev house out there, and a pre-cu emulator ran by people who actually loved it. The last laugh is ours. I dont speak for everyone of my friends, but more than some dude who has no history here. And to all the asses who laughed at us for believing..you guys need to let it go already.  And to all the people who are just blindly jumping on their bandwagon...remember we know very little about this game so far. your listening to the same type if not the same people who bashed us for thinking it was starwars. Its all marketing my friends. If you're predictable, you're usable.

The post flaming pre-cu fanbois out number post actually made by pre-cu fanbois 100 to1. And the few that are made are made by people that most swg fans disagree with. Make your argument with the poster your talking to is all im advising. Do want you want though. Just remember who has pretty much been right all along, and who has just flamed us all along. And the community you create here in the forums, even in these forums, can help or HURT a game. Everyone is a potential player and friend. You guys set the tone and foundation...you can make any community you want. Ask Vanguard players how being mean towards complainers went. Then ask LOTRO online players how being nice( at least they used to be, seems to have changed a bit recently) worked for them. Its very easy just to be nice.

Then agian im just a pre-cu fanboi. Of coarse i have my own preferences, I like worldy mmo's. Stuff to do in your downtime and what not. How come i dont get bashed and dismissed for this post. Completely useles, pointless conjecture.  What do you possibly have to base this on?  Bioware's track record in making poor games?  Ya right.

I admit that I mention SWG a lot, but that's because I am a big fan of sandbox games.  HOWEVER, I do not long for the days of pre-cu SWG.  Something alomst magical happened in that game that made it something special despite the broken or missing content.  It was the community, and what the community was able to create with the sandboxish features of the game world.  I use SWG as an example of that freedom, but I really would prefer to see a modern game that picks up where SWG left off.  It doesn't even have to be a Star Wars game, and it certainly does not have to duplicate SWG.

I would love to see SWTOR be a bridge between the worlds of Sandbox and Theme Park.  You know something that has the best of both worlds.  That's not going to happen though.  This is a theme-park through and through.

I'm looking forward to messing around in the EMU should it every actually release, but I doubt I will do much more than try it out unless we get some really fun/full servers and that magic happens again.

A sure sign that you are in an old, dying paradigm/mindset, is when you are scared of new ideas and new technology. Don't feel bad. The world is moving on without you, and you are welcome to yell "Get Off My Lawn!" all you want while it happens. You cannot, however, stop an idea whose time has come.

Recent? There has never been an online game that was also a good RPG, if TOR manages it, it will be the first.

So now its the sandbox lovers lol. At least you admit that some here are attacking a "group" whatever you want to call them. Simple question, why are you attacking a person or a group? Is it because you want to? You need to? You feel entiltled to? does it make you LOL?  Are you scared that they will keep on pressuring the devs until they listen, so you think attacking them personally or  calling their mental health into question will silence them? Is that it? you're trying to silence others?  Im I getting close?
