Seems all you people gripe and complain about questing and stuff. In case you don't know, the game dosen't start till you max out and are basically done questing. If you don't like questing and want to get to the end and play the real game, pay a Chinese power leveler to get you past what you hate so much. While you are getting your toon power leveled you can just play with yourself. Course once you get your toon back at max level everyone will be saying you bought it off ebay cause you lack the skill to use it. And Heartless, he was not calling you a troll it was that ice guy he was refering to.

Just try the game for yourself. I'm playing it, and I'm having fun in an MMO for the first time in over a year. that's not to say that this game is perfect, it has its flaws as all games will, but it's still good. I'm only level 10, and I just got my wings. I've gotten more and more into the world and lore with each level, the idea that the game doesn't start until Max level is just stupid.
I've played it. I've been playing the game for a while now, on and off. The Chinese retail and the US beta just to see if anything changed.

People defend this game like it's a matter of life and death, it's cute for awhile but now it's just ridiculous. People can't voice their opinion unless they agree with you? That's not a discussion you clod.
While Im here, can any of you good gentleman tell me when this game actually gets fun? Ive never seen such a long winded early game in an MMORPG before. Still level 6, do things get fun at 10? I have a preorder Im just about ready to cancel because of how generic this game is. When will developers learn that running pointless errands for faceless NPCs lost it's appeal 5 years ago.

I understand that people get frustrated when someone defends a game... but some people truely do love it. Some people out there will find this as their favorite MMO. It's just a fact. I don't understand why anyone would defend Darkfall which I think is the dumbest excuse for a game... but people are going to do it.. and I can argue with them, but I can't really blame them or change their mind if they really do love it.
Anyway Aion is good WoW is good heck even darkfall has a place (well i don't think so but I'm sure in all reality it does).. but no one will listen so carry on

Aye, funny in a way, and sad in another. During 11-years of playing these games, I tend to post any constructive criticism if I'm so inclined, and then move on, as I'd rather spend my time in games and on those forums of the game I enjoy. I strongly suspect the negative type trolls actually don't have game they love to play, and/or, find game forums an outlet for real life issues. That's why good moderators are so critical to a healthy forum.
Eh. I do LOVE<---- the music. I do enjoy the graphics. Animations are alright too.
Aion is not reinventing the wheel like WoW did by adding rims, better tires, good breaks, etc. They are just making it really shiny. It's too bad that most people think about END GAME only. I love leveling in games that are not lolkill91083249018274319024904 bares to get 10 bare asses. Or run from Point A to Point B, to get more bare ass quests.
Sure the way they do SOME of the quests it is not just kill x 10 times, run to point c, kill y 5 times. But many are.
Meh, I think this game will stay bigger in Asia than here. It's shiny and new, and will get people for that, but...meh...Does not draw me in like other games have. The story? lol what story? Is pretty mehhhh.
I admit I only got to level 10. I wanted real bad to get my wings and try the flying...so I endured nearly 4 hours of some of the most boring and uninnovative PVE gameplay that I have ever witnessed. Seriously! The idea that going around killing lots of cartoonish mobs, using only 1 or 2 skills for 4 hours is appealing to me as doing root canal. It really shouldn't have taken you 4 hours to get to 10 unless you were reeeeeally going Very, Very slowly. Usually takes about 2 hours. Why didn't they include new skills at earlier levels? For most games, the first few levels you usually have about 2-4 special abilities aside frome Auto attack, this is no different. by lvl 10 each class has 4 or 5 just like most other MMO's maybe you didn't undertand how you have to get them. Then, finally, after all the hard work, I got to the Eylios main city (which is really cool btw), and got 5 or 6 new skills. Then I was finally ready to fly!!! Yep, you didn't get them when you were supposed to. After ascention you pretty much get 2 new skills.
Except...that you don't really fly in Aion. You float on the air flapping your wings. There is none of the cool flying dynamics one would expect (if flying). You can't glide while flying, or dive, or catch an ascendant wind. If you stop pressing the forward key, you just stay still in the air. Another irritating thing was all those invisible walls in the air. What's the point of flying if you can't have freedom? There's already a time restriction, why make invisible walls too? Actually you can fly, glide, dive, catch updrafts etc. In non flying areas (one of those limited areas you speak of) Its possible to jump and pop your wings and actually use updrafts etc to reach an entirely different zone It just takes imagination or the ability to understand the mechanics of the way they've set up fight.
I was disappointed with the game. Maybe it gets better after a certain level. But still, I feel disappointed that NC Soft couldn't do a more innovative game-play.
I understand your Disappointment, however there is disappointment due to things not being available and there is disappointment due to a misunderstanding. You may want to take another look when you have time to check it out.

You have to learn to ignore the views of such ppl, they like to use the word "Discussion" as a means to justify complaints and gripes about the current MMO's, if we where to take these ppl seriously I'm sure most of us would be on medication for manic depression by now.
All I've gathered so far from the OP is that they are vehemently against Aion, their emphasis on the negatives with their break down of each title was evidence enough, the pro's list was thrown in just to fool us into thinking the OP was trying to be unbiased, but when the OP dissects the negatives and gives a detailed explanation of each but doesn't offer the same lvl of detail to the pro list you can easily see through the illusion of being unbiased.
I personally like AION, a friend in Korea says the pvpve in the end is incredible. And no he is not Korean, he is army. Both him and his wife play. They both think it is one of the better mm0.

Unfortunate as it is there isn't an MMO now or in the near future that will not have you running pointless errands for faceless NPC's.
I would certainly cancel the pre-order you have for Aion if your finding the game long winded, otherwise your just going to end up hating the game even more.
When EQ1 first came out the game mehcanics where very long winded, took me forever to lvl and if I died and did not get an exp rez I could end up losing a weeks worth of work, how frustrating do you think that was? Yet I carried on with the game and ended up enjoying it for years.
Thankfully what some find long winded others find engrossing, what some may find quick and easy others will find as a breath of fresh air, we all take very different approaches to the way we percieve games, if we didn't then you would find very few gaming options at your local PC store.

Just try the game for yourself. in my case my Gf love it and i enjoy it. If you cant enjoy it, this game not for you, cancel your order move on.
