it's only 8 class. how hard to guess.. maybe you dun care about my answer but base on playing more than 20 mmorpg in past 10 years, there's always short of tank and healer that means templar (tank), chanter(buffer) & cleric (healer). my bet is on chanter. because of general perception that buff is luxury addition whereas tank & healer is a must. according to kilkil2 chanter is a must for group pvp and i agree with his opinion 100%. in c-aion i see a lot of ppl dual box with a chanter.

Can u tell me how are dual wielding gladiators doing now and what is advantage over assasin. Coz assasin use 2 weapons aswell but he can hide and i think they got better burst dmg. So why even play dual wield gladiator - what are advantage?

KK2 isnt playing on the test server as far as I know, I am, I see some PvE gladiators choosing duals, in the abyss, most of them use dual sword and polearm.
Leveling after 25 - is it mostly solo grind? Can you group and still get competitive exp? What method do most players take for leveling (questing, solo griding, group elite grinding)?
My friends and I are trying to decide what to play, and we don't want to limit ourselves by having a Gladiator tank. Besides mitigation toggles, what critical tools to Gladiator tanks lack compared to a Templar? Will the future Gladiator love in 1.5 improve this? Do Gladiators take a significantly larger amount of damage compared to Templars when geared and manastoned for mitigation/HP?
First of all, kilkil2 thanks for your great effort here, creating the most informative thread for western aion interested players.
Nevertheless I have a question regarding patch 1.5,
my first concern is especially about the Assassin class:
It seems Assassin will struggle most with the upcoming patch, first the crit. damage multiplier is reduced from 2.5 to ~2.2 (from what if have read), the %tual attack speed increase you get from weapons are not additive anymore, the procchance for gostones of the offhand weapon is reduced, the general pvp damage nerf makes to suffer burst damage classes like the Assassin most cause all they can do is dish out damage, no cc or group utility, other classes like Ranger, Gladiator und especially Sorcerer (a "bit" to much candy here, imo) will recieve great buffs.
From your point of view, will the Assassin still be viable in group vs. group pvp or just replaced by a ranger or sorcerer, which will deal probably the same or more damage and have great cc abilities, can you give a short statement about the new pvp role of the Assassin in 1.5 like it is on the test realm at the moment, especially in group pvp?
Furthermore I have heard about a new stat introduced with 1.5, which provides cc resistance, how does this new stat affect stuns or air shackles, even more, does it mean, that you can NOT resist CC spells with Focused Evasion or Contract of Evasion I anymore?
You have stated, that you are trying to convince NCSoft to get rid of this "carebear pvp" system, I wish you good luck on that, hopefully you succeed, perhaps it helps if all european and north american players spam their community managers on twitter, to prevent this changes.
At last I want to give you some information about the class choice of german players, from the largest german aion forum:
Gladiator: 16,67%
Templer: 11,90%
Sorcerer: 13,10%
Spiritmaster: 10,71%
Ranger: 9,52%
Assasin: 10,71%
Cleric: 14,29%
Chanter: 13,10%
As you can see, there will be really a lot Gladiators, Sorcerers and Clerics out there, only Ranger, Assassin and Spiritmasters are lacking of some players. It seems EU players class choice greatly differ from what korean players have chosen, and our Beta Realms are 1.0. Guess what happen if 1.5 goes live like it is on the testrealm, there will be even more Sorcerers and Gladiators and even less Templars and Assassins, the good point is, Cleric seems to be very popular, what should stay the same even when 1.5 hits.
Koreans play A LOT differently when it comes to PvP and to a lesser extent PvE compared to US/EU/Oceanic.
The Koreans prefer to just DPS everything down. You will find that the DPS classes are more popular in Korean games. However we prefer to do things differently and play as group using EVERY skill and class we have at our disposal. Even though we will be playing the same game, our PvP will be A LOT different from the Koreans. NCsoft has to make adjustments to cater to BOTH PvP crowds as both are VERY different. Whats works in Korean PvP wont work in our PvP, and vise versa.

If you have stretching Polearm it'll be better to use it, or not just use dual swords for better dps(PvE).
Though in PvP Polearm can be better cause of Fall effect, its very important to interrupt and kll.
I heard in 1.5 still dual swords having a bit better DPS than Polearm.
About VS Assassin, Glad have better armor and HP then most important one,
taunt skill, and some activating stance that increasing aggro to mob.
Templar have obviously better tanking skill and armor and taunting skills but
Great thread! Learned so much thank you. Leveling after 25 - is it mostly solo grind? Can you group and still get competitive exp? Well, I do not really see that.
I know that Asians, especially Koreans, are aggressive players. I have played a lot with them in the past with titles such as Age of Empires 2 and Starcraft. However, once you reach to the top players, they are pretty similar in all continents. Now, I know you ment MMOs, but I do not see that either apart from aggressiveness and that Asians tend to play better as groups (generalisation!). I personally enjoy the Asian style more. It is more competitive and less whiny.

Before 1.5, DPS for each DPS class was like this by my experience. Assassin : 2000 dps Glad : 1000 dps Sorc : 600(when you cast most time)-1200 dps(dumping all the insta and 1sec spells. Spending mana ALOT to deal about 1200) It isn't that surprising Assassin got major nerf, because it was obviously OP'ed too much i didn't mentioned much about sin's dps because just i wasn't their prey since i specced on Magic Resisted (could avoid their most stuns, stun is everything of sin) but for casual users or users who don't have good gears it was just common to dying in 3-4sec by Assassin(stunned till die) When you see Assassin coming to you it meant death to you(casual users) until you are a Templar. Even Glad was used to die in around 4sec by Assassin : | What i heard from test servers, assassin is still unbreakable major dps that no class may come closer. Furthermore I have heard about a new stat introduced with 1.5, which provides cc resistance, how does this new stat affect stuns or air shackles, even more, does it mean, that you can NOT resist CC spells with Focused Evasion or Contract of Evasion I anymore? Truly true. Korean just want to kill everything just doesn't care about team or teamplay or heal/support/CC stuffs.
They are like zombie berserker seeking blood, i was really laughing alot when i saw that new server's statistic
showing that Assassin marked around 38% population and Templar marked around 27%.
I lol hard on "zombie korean berserkers" XD Anyway got some further questions mostly about magic resistance sets etc:
1) Im looking at Aionarmory site and i dont see there in alchemy any stones with Magic Acc. Does it mean that Magic Acc Stones = normal Acc stones ? If not how do u spec against Magic Resist Set as caster ?
2) U said as cleric it was not so much problem for u against Sin coz u spec Magic resist stones. First question is did u go full magic resist stones or u put like 50% magic resist 50% hp
3) Can u tell me how ur friend SM did spec his armor? (im gonna play SM probably) and do u think 1.5 patch (casting speed and CC resistance) will change something in ur armor and SM armor
Thx a lot again hmm this is so good thread coz its no-flame, no-bullshit info. Pure knowledge from pro player. Best Thread ever.
Kilkil, this is seriously the best thread for information for all of us Westerners as several people have already stated. Hope your posting can have influence on ncsoft to not carebear-up the future content. We don't want another wow .. yet that is the direction they are headed.
And of course the time for my questions comes up if you don't mind helping me out lol.
1. I'm not totally sure as to what the top pvpers use manastone wise for a ranger based on what I have read. I know as you said that most people just socket for max damage since thats all the korean base players want but what in your opinion or based on the top dog rangers use what is best? I feel as long as I have the crit softcap it might be smart to go for magicresist gemming for obvious reasons.
2. My cousin and I both intend on rolling rangers, do you see this as capable of bringing in decent abyss points and being able to hold their own if we both play it smart and get in and get out? Any tips?
Thanks for your time man. You have no idea how much it is appreciated!

hehe :P
1. Magic Accuracy and Magic Resist mana stones are drop off from mobs, Alchemist can't make or upgrade it
Magic Acc and Melee Acc is different.
2. i specced 80% Magic Resist 20% Hp. setting Magic Resists to around 1500 can prevent most sin's stun
3. 60% Magic Resist 40% HP. For PvP Magic Resist+ HP will be still major setting point.
But 1.5 improving all the PvEs and PvP is depressing alot so need to see whats going on first..
About PvE maybe better to setup HP+Magic Damage for SM(though not sure for now)
Kikil2 Thank you very much for all of your replys , this is the best place were Ive found with really useful information.
I have some questions if you have the time. When it comes to abyss gear, wich is the best set to get first? When I tryed the beta i was able to check the abyss gear, there are lvl 30, 40 and 50 "gold" gear, also blue and green. What do you think that i should buy first, should I try to save to get enough for full lvl 30 gold gear, or should i get green/blue first? Or Should i save all the way to 40 and get into the abyss with mobs drops. Or I could get a few lvl 30 gold gear and get green/blue lvl 40? Im planning on rolling a Cleric. I know there isnt a +heal stat so i guess my healing will be the same, and i just have to focus on survality, i think. This is probably something that only a person that knows end game knows, since I would probably waste my AP in the first item i could buy.
Thanks in advance, and again thank you very much for all this.
Kilkil2 Thank you very much for all the effort and all the information you have provided, its quite frankly unvaluable.
From what I read in other forums this new 1.5 patch has gradually emptied the Abyss, and most players moved to the new instances for APs and for hero equipment. Therefore, it seems like Aion will after all not be a very pvp oriented game, since doing PVE you can gain APs easily and without any danger (unlike PVP where you might die). This is indeed a sad turn of the game and an unexpected one.
I would like to show my concern about these changes, so my question is, where can someone that wants to complain about these coming changes do so? Do you know of any forum, email, twitter, etc that is in english?
Thanks in advance, and again thanks for all your effort.
Excellent video, good music. 8.5 !! RvR? for sure, I'll be loving it. I sure hope they are better at balancing things like that then other games balance pvp. I got so sick of our server sucking at wintergrasp I insisted on calling it winterhorde.

One thing to keep in mind. Like all new things that come out, people want to try them out. All this content for 1.5v is new so everyone will want to try them. I'm sure things will settle down and the focus will once again turn to pvp and the abyss.
Velika: City of Wheels: Among the mortal races, the humans were the only one that never built cities or great empires; a curse laid upon them by their creator, Gidd, forced them to wander as nomads for twenty centuries...
One of the lvl 50 players on the korean test server stated that the incentive for pvping in the abyss was lost with the current changes as hero equipment is the best gear available and with the new dungeon rewarding players with lots of abyss points, where's the point in pvping in abyss when you can get the best gear via PvE and without any risk of losing abyss points.

New patch notes showed they increased the lockout timers on these dungeons. These dungeons are also located in the bottom of fortresses in the Abyss that are only accessible if your faction owns the fortress, which requires that your faction participate and succeed in large scale siege pvp.
I would expect (hope) more tweaking in regards to the new patch because we don't want to have the game lose it's best feature (pvp).
Reduce the ap cost of abyss gear, give less ap's for instance dungeons.

This has to be the most informative post I have come across and want to give you a big thanks for taking so much time out of you life to answer things you have experienced. Its refreshing to see a post where a poster speaks from thier experience and people listen and ask questions rather then flame or whine. I have enjoyed all 13 pages so far on this post. Hoepfully when you have time you can answer a few questions for me that I have yet seen asked.
When Aion comes to NA I plan on playing the Gladiator. I"am hard core gamer that likes to do his research and know what to shoot for in a game. Also I have a big weakness for choosing a characters based on big weapons and plate armor
Extendable Weapons I have watched videos and have read posts that show or briefly go over these but none go into depth about them. I am curious if their is a list of them and how do you know that the weapon is a extendable since I can't see anything on the items that mark them as such? Can they be crafted or a chance upon crafting. What weapon types are extendables? Also are these a must have to be proficient in PvP as a Gladiator? Any information on this would be greatly appreciated.
Stigmas While their are posts that cover the 2 basic must have stigmas, snare and armor, but which others are the Koreans currently favoring and why? Also with patch 1.5 granting 3 more Stigma slots, which stigmas to use in those? Also is their a more up to date list on what Stigmas are currently available to Gladiators?
Godstones Out of curiosity which Godstones do the Koreans favor atm for level 50? What Godstones for 2h Sword / Polearm, Duel Wield PVE, and Bow? Would love to hear more on this and the reasoning behind the choices and if their if there is a low end version to hold you over till you can get the optimal one.
Attack Speed Items The only items I'am seeing in the Database are Gloves at 8%, Scroll at 9% and some weapons at 10-23%. Other then the chanter DP ability is there any other items or abilities that have attack speed?
Manastones for PvP Most of the Gladiator Community on Aionsource is under the impression that Crit Manastones till you crit cap then go with +attack Manastones for the rest is the ideal set up. After reading all your posts about how important resists are, how does / did the Gladiator on your team set up his? I'am under the impression that the Crit + Attack manastone may only be good for grinding but again what kinda balance should we be shooting for in PvP, as Crit is needed for Knockdowns but where do we draw the line and how much should we invest into resist and hp manastones on top of this?

Templar : 13% Glad: 15% Assassin: 22% Ranger: 9% Cleric: 13% Chanter: 10% Sorc:12% Spiritm:7%
(this is that servers current population, about 2 weeks after launched)
Not exact numbers but it was like this way.
(I EXACTLY remember at some moment Templar+Assassin marked 65% population LOL)
Templar&Cleric&Chanter is good classes for bot/RMT so many bot users playing it.
with regard that reason its still unbalanced quite much.
And usually those population gets much better after time passed.
Because of popular class going to be doomed for grouping, item is fucking expensive,
lack of their taste's mob(each class having their taste on mob) etcs.
This is a nice thread--I can't wait to try this baby out.

I just want to thank you Kilkil2 for the most informative thread about Aion I have read anywhere.
I used to play Daoc for a few years on european servers and will always miss the good roaming Group vs Group action.
This threas made me decide to give Aion a try.

Jesus Christ! the UI looked like it was from a Generic F2p grinder!
I don't know guys, I highly doubt this will effect WoW at all.
You need a quality game to pull that playerbase and that wasn't quality.
Aion could go the way of WAR and AoC if the WoW player base rejects it.

Thanks in advance
/cheers
