My own sense is that people leave WoW because they are tired of it.  Its a great game, well designed, etc., but it simply got old.

Now, oddly enough I know a couple of people who left the game years ago (one before BC, two shortly after BC) potentially coming back to WoW when cataclysm releases to "relive" the game.

I quit WoW because of the horrible community, meaningless instanced PvP and tedious gear grind.

After playing the AIon beta it's a refreshing change thats for sure, Aion will be getting my money come launch,

    Absoluetly.

Yes, atleast for a few months to give Aion the the full run down it deserves.

The funniest part is that WoW players will be playing AIon, like it or not. Cataclysm is 90% stealing Aion ideas and features

Out of the 3 expansions, this gotta be the most blatant shameless copy of the competitors that Blizzard ever pulled.

Its pathetic and sad equally when the market leader has done nothing in their life but "wait and copy"

No wonder everytime a group of Bizzard devs leave the company to make their own MMO they crash and burn on the most epic levels...

they simply dont even know what to do, they have zero experience in doing something for themselves, and their creativity to come up with something new matches the one of a rock

Already quit WoW - bored so giving it a rest but unless something just a bit different and vaguely compelling comes out I'll probably go back to it at some point.

Aion just looks horrible. I don't mean graphically (its very pretty) but in terms of gameplay mechanics etc it looks thoroughly ordinary. The biggest pull seems to be the lore behind the game, with quests running on to several pages of text. And after reading that, of course, you still get to go kill 10 Fangbeasts of Repetition and bring back their spleens or something.

    Terrific.

Yeah, I believe Keen and Graev's blog mentioned Aion as something that doesn't introduce anything new to the genre, but does what it does very well, with lots of polish. Except those damned quests are all standard too.

It's for that reason that I'm still not playing any MMOs at the moment. I need a reason to get excited, and Aion hasn't given me that. I'll definitely wait to see how their PvP plays out.

I dont think Cataclysm is copying AIon.

While Im terribly bored and dissapointed of the 2009 WoW and Im planning to play Aion I dont think how Blizzard is copying it.

I see people complaining about Aion quests. I have two things to say to you people. First remember the original WoWs quests, pretty similar huh? Second and most important, Aion is not about questing. Quests are there to provide an alternative to the traditional asian grinding. You dont like grinding? Fine, do some quest!

Aion is mainly about PvP and it nicely blends PvP with PvE (what they call PvPvE).

Cataclysm PvP-wise was the same old <@#$%>;. More Arenas , more BGs ... aka instanced, controlled e-sport PvP.

Aion offers Open PvP with capturable fortresses etc.

PvE-wise Aion is not even close to WoW. Its at very basic stages yet and while there is a lot of content with many high-lvl /endgame dungeons the battles are not so complicated and only a few times are something more than tank and spank. On the other hand its extremely Polished and offers nice features like timed runs where the end boss is different depending on what rank you scored , or a typical PvE dungeon where both factions are trying to reach the end-boss and kill it while fighting eachother and more.

But its the combination of PvP and PvE that wow lacks and makes Aion a unique game and not the PvE alone.

No I will not. For some reason I have absolutley zero intrest in this game.

That Guild Wars 2 login screen knocked up my wife. Must be the second coming!

Well i ve got a couple more months in Warcraft to play so I will play Aion as well for a short time . The impression i m getting in wow at the moment is vast numbers of people are ready to jump ship for anything thats half decent . If Aions as good as it seams from my somewhat limited beta experiance and offers good solid gameplay . i will certainly leave . I dont think i ll be alone . its going to be an exodus if Aion is the first to be released since WOW that delivers the goods .

My guild and I have made the switch over to Aion. Some of us had been playing WoW since closed beta.  Most of us have sold our accounts for a tidy sum of money. So, there's no going back, not that any of us really want too.

We saw the direction that Blizzard was going with being more causal friendly. It is their game and they can do whatever they want to it. We, as unhappy customers, can only speak with our wallets. Luckly we happened to get into the Aion beta and that started the ball rolling.

Out of our 40 man guild...35 of us are moving over ti Aion.

I am definitely moving over. I cancelled my WoW account a few weeks ago and haven't looked back.

I quit, but not because of Aion... I'd reached a point where there was nothing more I wanted to do... I'll probably go back but not until after the next xpac.

I quit WoW about 3 months ago and will never go back. Tried AOC, Warhammer etc... not to my liking. Played 2 CB's of AION and I'm hooked.

well i played a bit of champions online beta recently as well which also looks cool . I think i ll proberbly quitting WoW for AION but  i would also love to play champions at some point too because its a lot of fun . I cant see myself staying in WOW  when theres other decent games being released this year and i honestly dont even know if i ll be lured back for the Cataclysm given Starwars will be out next year .

I ve a feeling Aion will end up being my main mmo for the next year or two at least . Look forward to seeing you all there .

Actually Aion runs suprisingly well on older machines, pretty similar to WoW. I can run both games on my netbook (at low settings) without much difficulty, which is amazing considering the graphics in Aion.

What is so hard about lvling for casual players in Wrath? WoW is one of the faster games out for lvling through content. Hardcore gets there in 1 day played vs 3 days played for casual? It's all about the end game loot in wow and casual or not...getting epics in WoW these days is easy if you play 7 days a week vs 2 days. You could play two days a week at lvl 80 and be fully epic in two weeks.

It will not as much obvious as it was in WotLK where most of the improvements was steal from biggest wow competitor: WAR. Even Blizzard announce that will be able to join BG's from everywhere in the next patch short after WAR make joining any Scenario from any zone.

I don't personally play WoW anymore. But if I were, I would not leave for Aion.

  • SuniojSunioj Member Posts: 261

I quit WoW last year for WaR and I was back in less then 2mths.  This time I'm going to keep my WoW account active while I play Aion.  Depending on how the leveling progression goes and surrounding in game support structure goes, I'll maintain both my Aion and WoW account.  WoW has deep hooks and it's hard to get away from :-)

    Momo sucks, I have proof.
