So many quality projects this year. Cant wait to see SW: ToR, GW2, FF14, WOW: Cataclysm, Global Agenda

  • SerulithSerulith Member Posts: 92

Couldnt agree more with FFXIV. Personally even if ToR were to come out next year, i would still put FFXIV above it. Square seems to be breaking the mold more with FFXIV then Bioware is doing with ToR.

Yeah i stand corrected every piece of crap MMo grindfest to come out of japan is the greatest. Square cant even make a decent single player game why would anyone think a square mmo would be any better but hey i play games for fun  and i have been playing mmo for some time and know alot of people who do so the fact i don't know anyone who has any desire to play this says alot to me.

MMORPG.com has never seemed to use logic or facts when it comes to making their choices for these awards - this year is no different. Look at their choices from previous years and see how they're doing now...

hahaha pick any game from previous years and see how there doing the last game to do anything was WoW.

Ok so just because you and a few friends don't like Final Fantasy and you can't type out a coherent sentence when trying to make a point, FFXIV is destined to failure and doesn't deserve this...heh

You do know that all those other crappy MMOs combined minus WoW can't even total the amount of subs that FFXI has carried for its lifespan.  Most can barely hold onto 100-200k subs after the initial miracle open beta patch and 30 days free!

Was going to mention this, as there are quite a few MMOs in Japan, but only 1 that I know of has ever been released outside of Asia and thats FFXI.  All these grindfests you talk ab out are coming out of Korea & China!

i stand corrected its the korean grindfests aion lineage. point is still the same how a game no one in my gaming world has any interest in playing won most anticipated is beyong me guess its same as how that pos aion won best of 2009. so many other interestiong mmos coming out in 2010 playing some pos from square is a  huge waste of time but hey you people enjoy you game i will enjoy mine i really don't care about this game just how it wins this award pretty much rules out any validity on this award. i have tried the ff games in the past and that is why its not interesting i prefer to play with adults not kids

Well I am glad you came back to fix your main mistake. As for your veiw on ffxiv, if your writing it off so fast and not even willing to give it a look to see what its about, I nor no one else can help you (or your friends) All I will say to you is that if you love PvE games you should really look into FFXIV. If your a big PvP fan the yes dont bother with it.

The reason why its so popular is because FFXI has a very strong and loyal fanbase. It one of the top 3 mmo's of all time. Dont result to downgrading a game because of assumptions either. There were very few kids who played ffxi, FFXI it took a mature mentalitly to play. If your basing you ideas off of the single player FF, the online game is  completly different.

btw I did some digging it seems R.H.O.N is a f2p game out of japan thats the only one besides ffxi that I found that we can play.

Edit: found one more: Pandoras saga, Tho it seems it doesnt have an official NA release theres still an english client that we can play.

to bad rhon and PS are PvP based :(

Final Fantasy XIV?  How do they even come up with that?  If the fantasy was final, there would not even be FF2, let alone FF14!  (as I write this, it occurs to me that this has likely been said a million times before...so make it a million and one)

Guess I am one of those that just dont get it.  Dont like the look, sick of freaking elves and magic, grind-tastic PvE.

I will be playing STO in 2010, but for those of you that do "get it", enjoy FFXIV and the kudos from MMORPG.

So you are really that naive? Why even mention or attempt to discredit games with 'grind' with 'mmo' when you know they both go hand in hand.

WTF are you talking about?  I dont like PvE grind-fests.  Not all MMO's are PvE grindfests.  If you disagree with that last statement, fine, you have the right to your opinion even if it is wrong.  ;)

Doth not know the history of formerly SquareSoft, now Square-Enix and the reason it was called Final Fantasy.  You should look that up and then you'd understand, and why its so significant no matter how many #s they place after it!

Here. I'll save ya time cause you really should know so you don't go around bashing something with no knowledge of its history!  It really makes ya look silly...rofl

PvP is a grindfest also, all you do is manically kill players over and over; same as in PvE killing mobs over and over to get enough points to advance your character!

When comparing FFXI to western MMOs, you grind mobs with an incredible storyline you're working towards unlocking as well as advancing your character.  However, in western MMOs all you do is grind quest after pointless quest with no interesting story as fast as you can to some so called end-game that results in grinding once again over and over through the same dungeons and battlefields.

    lol

I look silly because I have not read the lore of a strangely titled game I am not interested in playing? Whatever. And really, if you think that was bashing the game, I dont know what to say.  It struck me as odd, and I said as much.

Look, you are not going to convince me to like the game and I am not trying to convince anyone that the game is bad.  It is just not for ME.  As I said before, if you like this stuff and "get it", enjoy.  K?

This game isn't anywhere on my radar, let alone returning a semi-strong ping.

I'll try it for sure when it comes out. But I'm interested in more action-pvp oriented games:

here you go.. Aion's Vision 2010, their attempt at fixing many of the problems they've had prior to the U.S. release date. In all their interviews they mentioned working hard on developing an 'expansion' (which I believe to be free) before it released outside of Korea. www.youtube.com/watch

So, I'm going to return the favor.  I hope FFXIV has just enough casual content to piss you people off and ruin your gaming experience, lord knows you've done this to just about every casual game so far.  What's the phrase I'm looking for......oh yeah, "Turnabout is fair play"

    Wow.

Hmmm in reading that rant, it looks to me like someone hasn't found *their* perfect MMO that perfectly caters to *their* preferences and are pretty bitter about it. If that's the case, with how extremely casual friendly many new MMOs have become - to the point where even some casuals are saying "okay, now it's getting ridiculous" - then I guess I can understand the bitterness. I can't relate to it.. but I can empathize.

What, exactly, would make a MMO casual friendly enough for you, anyway?

As for FFXIV being chosen most anticipated... Meh. I'm ambivalent about that. I mean, it's nice to see a SE MMO being given such attention, after the relatively little XI received. But... having seen what happens in any MMO that's popular, particularly the type of people it attracts.. well...  I fully expect a certain crowd of players to show up who tend to annoy a lot of people anywhere they go... and I'll leave it at that.

I have to say I believe SW:TOR, Huxley, Allods, APB, WOW:Cataclysm, and just about every other mmo being more in demand and much more anticipated.
