I don't understand what you're trying to convey, here. If you think meaningful conversation isn't the real intention, you're probably right when considering the amount of players who have had problems with MO. There are many players who aren't interested, like I am, in the whole picture, or the reasons why some people find this a worthy investment and others do not. Please don't confuse anything I write with an attempt at being an ass, or otherwise unkind. That's not my intent.

no sry I wasnt trying to make you look like you were attempting to be an ass I was and am sick of people using WoW as an insult or a flame there was no reason the poster that you were responding to needed to use that at the end of his post, it is just getting old im sry its in almost every game i play now people make  some criticism about a game they are playing(mechanics or what not) and even tho WoW is never mentioned or even knowing if the person had anything to do with WoW the 1st thing that comes up is "well go back to WoW then"

This CEO should pay more attention to his game and stfu. Better fix his shit before his supporters start leaving. And probably some already quit for sure. Darkfall released and it's not the end of sandboxes. Unless the game release is pushed back to 2012 then i may believe lol

asking players to support a game that isn't ready for launch is absurd. if they want support from gamers then small things should have been added before launch like; tutorial for new gamers, a map and/or compass etc... the lack of these things doesn't make a game "hardcore" rather then less likely to attract new gamers. After all its the minor things that can make the difference between longevity and failure.

AV needs to step up to the plate and get their act together. gamers don't expect perfection right out the gate but SV needs to realize that with all the bad publicity they have gotten lately that they will need to prove to a big majority of the public that spending more then what an average MMO costs is well worth it. I personally participated in OB and thought the game had potential once all the latency issues are fixed. I probably won't even bother buying the game until i know for sure that i'll get my monies worth.

p.s. any idiot that feels a failure on SV part to release a sandbox MMO will spell doom for future games is just silly. Some company will get ballsy and try to make a sandbox game but unlike MO they will have something decent, playable, and not give lame excuses as to why players should support them.

Game doesnt really NEED an ingame map and compass.....it is NOT hard to navigate

Others will come regardless if Mortal Online closes.  Xsyon and Earthrise are 2 I can name off the top of my head.

funny cuz AV is not american get over it

No one knows where they are from! They hop countries every other week to escape the bill collectors! :)

Seriously though.. MO went from a " maybe " purchase down the line to " This company needs to die " after seeing this... Turbine , SV , AV and Funcom are on that list too.

I would say, dont hate on starvault, after all they've came out and TRIED this, i think it will end badly personally but i hope im wrong, they may lack funding now, i think thats what it boils down too, after reading numerous threads its clear they got a solid base, lack of know how/money is sadly probebly going to kill this game.... like so many before it.

Ex. myth of soma, legend of mir, mu online and eudemons online player.

Current game : Runescape (until pc build is complete)

They do not really have a solid base.  If I was to guess, I would say 60% of the people that preordered will not pay for the 2nd month.  The numbers do not add up.

I want a server,no we want a server, heck we all want our servers. Not even the behemoth WOW had servers everywhere and people are asking SV to deliver servers world wide?please be sensible.
It also shows an absolute reason to NOT listen to people, make your game and stick with it.All i saw is we want more carebear, then others say screw the carebears ,keep it hardcore.I have an idea why doesn't SV just change the game every week to keep everyone happy?geesh again show some common sense.
I can see people asking about promised content, but don't start asking for new stuff before they even get what they promised going first.
Henrik also makes sense,he is basically telling everyone, they DON'T have the money, they are a small developer trying their best to make a game.DF had 7 years to mosey around and the game is still pretty much empty of content, the world is as barren as FE's world.
IMO there is such an easy path to follow here,if the game gathers your interest, stick it out and support them,if it doesn't DO NOT complain and ask for the game to cater to YOU,developers cannot make a game that caters to everyone,it is 100% impossible.SO far this game is still in the stage of basically being in Beta, they need more time,it is your choice to give it to them or not,but let them finish the CORE game before asking anything else.

im sry but FE's world has way more content than DF and MO's world put together

FE is a different type of mmo. Its mission based and actually has an endgame. Its more of a Hybrid than a true sandbox game.

Obviously a mission based skill capped game is going to need more dev created content than your FFA pvp focused sandbox.

    Update:

MikeB just unlocked it. I told him we would discuss this in an orderly fashion. Please stay on topic and do not get this thread derailed again.

    Thanks.

Oh, and here I thought it was for baiting others to respond in a negative manner.  Unless you can point to where Henrick referred to anyone as a "troll" or  "carebear", it appears that you are trying to put words into his mouth to make his statements seem offensive. Henrick used the term "carebear" once and was saying "Ya, we won't go carebear" in response to "Henrick, be hardcore".   Where you aren't putting words into his mouth, the excerpts seem to be totally irrelevant to any point you are making.  How is it a bad thing that he thinks it will take 7 years to implement all the things he envisions for UO.  Henrik feels that he will never be competitive in EVE against people who have been playing for years,  What does that have to do with anything, especially MO?

The way this thread is headed, I expect another lock. 8 pages in less than 24 hours. Mind blowing.

I see a lot of interesting threads here, though. A shame they are marred by an all out war against Zealots and non-believers.

The more I watch this train wreck since I left the OB, the more it's starting to look eerily similar to Realms of Torment/Mourning saga.

-Lead Dev blasting the MMORPG forums because we won't give his game any slack.

-Lead Dev in serious denial of the state of his game

-Unfinished closed beta version of a client.

-Unwarranted bannings in the official forums coupled with community managers acting unprofessionally and baiting players on the forums

-Game boxes not being delivered when promised(but hey at least this last go around the box looked somewhat professional and wasn't just a client burned on a DVD looking like someone made it in their basement).

    ...and on and on.

I made the comparison before, but after this last outburst by Henrik, it is a play right out of the RoT/Mourning playbook.

Good luck MO, you're gonna need it.

I rarely go out on a limb and make statements like this, but I have a feeling this game is going to fall hard on it's face release day if they stick to the "this month" release schedule.  They have roughly 2 weeks to turn this game around and given their track record to this point, I know what I expect.

Trawling through everything someone posts to find comments that make them look bad does not seem a useful ways of discussing their product. Especially when you editorialize about their comments it's easy to make them look bad and amounts to an ad hominem attack more than a discussion of the merits of the game.

As an example----- ANON thinks he knows more about Unreal Engine than the company that made it !!!

Not true, they are licensing an engine from epic that was designed for FPS games on small maps (unreal tournament)

How and why is it epic's fault? Starvault wanted to make a game using an engine that was not designed for a huge MMO. Blame it on Starvault, it is not epic's engine's fault

    or

Epic sells licenses for an engine that was created for small "instanced" games, it was not created to make a huge MMO.

    VS.

Epic's press release: Epic Games China, Ltd. today announced the release of its Atlas Technology massively multiplayer online game (MMOG) development suite. Consisting of persistent world server technology and MMOG content creation and management tools that work directly with Epic Games’ Unreal Engine 3, Atlas Technology provides developers with a solid foundation on which to build MMOGs, casual and session based games, and community and e-commerce applications.

Atlas Technology extends Unreal Engine 3’s functionality to support persistent online games. In addition to be being used for Epic Games China’s unannounced projects, Atlas Technology has undergone a private evaluation process for the past year, and has been licensed by game developers in North America, Asia and Europe.

As another example----- ANON2 thinks he knows everything about the Unreal engine from one little google search !!!

Lobby-Session Game Type Support – Atlas provides full support for persistent lobby session based games.

What does that mean? It means that Atlas technology was designed to support (and you can figure this out if you read the EpicGames.com forums) INSTANCED GAMES.

Now ask yourself? Is it Epic's fault if SV decided to take their technology and use it in a manner that it was not meant for? Look at the games using it -- ALL INSTANCED. APB, Global Agenda, Blade and Soul... And now SV is trying the same "pin the blame" technique that has happened in countless other failed MMOs (Mourning, Dark and Light) on Epic Games. Unfortunately for SV, all the information that negates their blatant and utter lies about the problem being with Epic and not with them, is easily discoverable through a simple google search and reading a few articles.

An Example Game is provided demonstrating all Atlas game and technology features, and providing a basic MMO style game framework for reference. Implementations of many standard MMO game features are provided, including (but not limited to):

Because the best interest for an mmo comes from a small company that dusnt even have the fund to create half a game and with devs with a childish attitude that will never likely to find investors because of that is good for the future mmo industry right?

Is that SV guy deluded? If Mortal Online is the only MMO that is going save the sandbox MMO genre, then Sandbox MMO's are as good as done already, lots of players who don't like MO after trying it know what the dev team is trying to do and their execution of it is very poor.

It's a good thing SV and its MMO is far from the saviour of sandbox MMO's. Aventerine is not out of the race yet, it will be very foolish for SV to consider Aventurine out of the race without even know what big shake up the huge Darkfall 2010 project will bring to the game. There more players now playing DF than SV will have at launch, I'm willing to bet on it!

AV already have an advantage having an engine they built from the ground up for MMO's that handles large number of players in a real time battles better than the unreal engine MO is using, since AV built their own engine they don't have to relying on a very detached group who you licensed the engine from to fix things to do with the engine that lacking already for use as a tool to build a MMO.
