Lol ,a Mass Effect fanboy. Clearly you don't know shit about what i have played and what i haven't,your assumption is beyond ridiculous. Sure ,BioWare get's a lot of hype but much of it is undeserved. And yeah, like you num nuts, i am a European, and yes i have played every single rpg that Bioware have made, that includes Mass Effect 2. ME2 was not even up to par on ME1,yes playing recent BioWare games is like watching a freaking movie on repeat, the same shit ,nothing new just a different box cover. You can spout off how they are the blah blah pawnz, lol, but they are the same dry crap that BioWare have been churning out over the last 6 years, freaking boring. See what i did their? Lol.
Yep, I saw. You blattered nonsense
But to give credit where it's due, the footage on The Witcher 2 looks great, and when it comes out I'm going to play it, just as I will be playing the new Bioware games when they're released. If you hate Bioware games so much? Simple solution. Don't f**king play ME3, DAO2 and the DLC's when they come out.
About Bioware not having any experience as a company with MMO's, mmm, doesn't have to be a disadvantage. I mean, Blizzard had no experience with MMO's before WoW, and the companies behind Everquest and Ultima Online had no experience with MMO's as well before that. Still, they made it work and their pioneering was successful and paid off.
Someone mentioned TSW. While I won't compare it with GW2 or TOR, I think The Secret World and CCP's World of Darkness will be interesting to keep an eye out for. What's been revealed of TSW shows great atmosphere and promises intriguing gameplay, while CCP has built a large stock of credit and kudos with their EVE Online. Their characters physics shows promise as well, as shown in this little video: see here
The ease with which predictions are made on these forums: Fratman: "I'm saying Spring 2012 at the earliest [for TOR release]. Anyone still clinging to 2011 is deluding themself at this point."
SWTOR hands down. This is like choosing between Money(swtor) and a piece of plastic(gw2). Which one would you want?
Your analogy is weird and very biased to say the least, if you were to equalize their value like say; Chocolate or vanilla, strawberry or banana then it would be a lot more balanced and fair.
Tough call, probably GW2 for the dynamic world they're promising. ToR has a lot of promise but the screens I've seen don't look too good and I doubt it's going to feel much like a open world instead of a really big multiplayer game.
So far, judging by information I was about to find out about TOR, it seems to be WoW with voice overs and great quests.
That would be... disappointing. :-(
I really want good gameplay for an MMO. Story is just a plus, as it alone cannot keep me occupied for more than one month or so. I don't want to invest 50 € for SWToR just to realise it's WoW with Star Wars graphics and better quests. :-(
That was pretty much the response from the previewers(after they'd finished wetting themselves because they were previewing swtor). I suggest you cross your fingers and hope for the best, but you are likely looking at very heavy instancing as well(essentially an mo rather than an mmo)
Bioware made a few good rpg like mass effect 2, dragon age, sw:kotor but they were all single player games, so i dont believe that this will be something good, expect if u like to play a game that is heavily based upon story and RP. i dont expect anything stunning at pvp. And theres always the EA who is dangerous
Also graphics look a little cartoony but thats not really a big problem
Guild wars 2 graphics also seem to be very good, i dont really like that new style in many new games that have cartoony or very very colorful and bright graphics. I believe guild wars will be a very good game
SWTOR will likely be more successful due to the tons of hype it's getting, but I like GW2 a lot more than SWToR. I think SWToR is cool, but GW2 is just so awesome. I just saw a video of Arenanet showing off some art for GW2, and it reminded me why I love the world of Guild Wars so much.
Wow those results are a lot closer than I expected, I was expecting SW: TOR to have a very high lead.
I picked GW2, I don't really follow either of these games but I remember from the last GW there wasn't a monthly fee. I just have a big pet peeve about paying more than one monthly fee for games. When both of these games are out I'm going to be playing a different MMO (FFXIV) so GW would probably be the game I would buy out of these two as my 'rainy day' MMO.
Also, I'm more into fantasy style over sci-fi in MMOs so that is another factor.
I'm excited about both, but I think TOR has more potential. It has plenty of worlds to explore, space combat and ground combat that can be added and expanded on, and the previous games have just setup the stage for the possibility of something truly worthwhile. I like the way guildwars was originally, I like the combat style, and the skill hunting, and the graphics were nice.... but I'd rather use a jetpack and have wrist rockets and blasters then spending time with my bow and arrow fighting off an awoken dragon or whatever the story is for GW.
I'll buy both, but I think TOR will probably hold my attention longer.
Guild Wars 2 for me. Star Wars just does not look good. I have not seen one video that looks impressive. The combat looks very dull and the art style and character models does not do it for me. I cant wait to see more stuff on Guild Wars 2. The little that they have showed looks great. This time its going to not be instanced and Free To Play afther purchase? Its a no brainer really.
If I had to choose between the two, GW2 hands down. I prefer fantasy titles, and GW2 looks like it'll be one of a kind, especially with the (potential) introduction of steam punk. I enjoyed GW, but GW2 is going to stomp its predecessor.

I agree. I liked Guildwars a lot, and those videos Arenanet showed of Guildwars 2 look awesome, and also typically their style - I think the GW/GW2 franchise has one of the most artistical design teams around.
To see what I mean, look here for the videos, a must-see:
Still I think SW TOR will be great too. Before WoW Blizzard also had only experience with RTS and action adventure RPG's, and they still managed to pull it off, even made the MMO with the most subs around. Bioware in its own way is as ambitious and perfectionist as Blizzard is.
The ease with which predictions are made on these forums: Fratman: "I'm saying Spring 2012 at the earliest [for TOR release]. Anyone still clinging to 2011 is deluding themself at this point."
Well considering that I absolutely can't stand star wars or Star trek or any Star crap (I just hate space based shows / movies in general, don't know why they don't click for me). I go for GW2. Besides GW2 will be a Free 2 play mmorpg full blown mmorpg without a (REAL) item mall. I'm sure it will have microtransactions like GW 1 did. I'm sure it will have costumes, hairstyles, and cosmetics sold in cash shop, hell maybe even small content updates like GW1, and skill packs for skills you can get in game. All of that stuff does not bother me though. As long as they don't sell stuff that gives any kind of REAL stat bonus in PvP or PvE game play ill be happy.
Voted TOR, but it's close. Mostly I think TOR is more likely to provide a fun gaming experience, but this is partially unfair since I've read less about GW2 than TOR.
GW2 it wouldn't surprise me if it was by far the more innovative and creative game of the two, given how GW1 turned out. I still feel GW1 had the best-designed abilities of any MMORPG out there, by a good lead too! GW1's big shortcoming was PVE, and I'm curious to see how GW2's PVE turns out, and whether we end up with a little more mid-battle decisionmaking. As much as I loved choosing my skills between missions, the missions themselves got boring because of only having 8 skills (which was a fantastic constraint for PVP, but just didn't pan out for PVE.)

Lets see SW:TOR will be fun the first time threw, EA is throwing big time money at the game, something like 2x more than has been spent on WoW.. Unfortunately linear storyline based gameplay has no staying power and becomes annoying quickly. So while i look for large initial numbers this game will lack retention. EA is hoping for 1 million subs for the first year at minimum and I just dont see that happening without some meaningful endgame.
Guild Wars on the other hand knows what their doing. They made some mistakes with the first engine but GW2 should be on another level completely. I just hope they keep the grind down to realistic western levels. Some of the title grinding in GW1 had goten out of hand last time i played. (Granted most of it seems pretty pointless)
Since I love GW, really looking forward to GW2 -- like the look of it, the lore, what I've read about it. This is for the PvE part -- not PvP, don't PvP -- but since I believe the PvP part of GW pays for the PvE -- keep PvP in and make it good.
TOR -- it's Bioware! I like Stars Wars but not a big huge fan, nowadays. Still -- great setting for an MMO, and the characters, the story, and, saying this again -- it's Bioware!
To tell you the truth Swtor wins for me, Bioware is just too awesome to make anything bad. Although i am kind worried since WAR guys are also working on the game, no offense.
Rest assured they are puppets in the overall picture. I can guarantee Bioware is calling all the shots along with lucasarts on this endevour. EA is for once sitting back pumping money out and holding thier tongues and not rushing some of the best game developers, thsu leaving them alone to do what they need to, to deliever us a quality experience.
"The King and the Pawn return to the same box at the end of the game"
I'm really hoping it bests WoW for me. There has not been a MMO that has held my attention other than WoW, and even that has lost A LOT of it's fun factor.
Definitely getting Guild Wars 2, but SW:TOR has me giddy with excitement. Sith Inquisitor BIATCHEZ!

Guild wars 2. i ama fum of good competitive pvp

This statement is false.

Not to hyped for either to be honest.
XIV is the only game that's on my radar.

WOW.. the poll is exactly 50%/50% at this time.
Hard choice -- both look spectactular.

My only interest in either is the hope that TOR will be successful enough to motivate CCP into perking up the very basic PvE in EVE.
Give me liberty or give me lasers
GW2 will be more successful (as in % of people saying "money well spend")
TOR will bring in more cash. (as in ALOT of cash)
oh for the other question you asked, i'm alot more hyped for gw2.
gw2 i'll definetly buy,preorder, collector etc, the whole deal;
TOR, we'll see.
I need more vespene gas.

They both seem like equally good games and I only look forward to GW2 slightly more because it lacks a monthly fee.
Guild Wars 2 is my religion
Guild Wars 2 definately, SW:TOR will be popular in the first month but die off very quickly.
SW:TOR
I'm really hoping it bests WoW for me. There has not been a MMO that has held my attention other than WoW, and even that has lost A LOT of it's fun factor.
