I got bored.

bastionixbastionix Member Posts: 547

I'm level 33 in that 30/35 zone Scarwood Reach and I'm bored to tears.

The rifts are always the same, the dungeons are pretty boring and the questing is just like WoW. Kill X, Give item A to NPC B. I have done like 200 of those kill quests by now. Jesus.

I have to credit Rift that it was hella cool at around level 14. But at 25-35 it sucks because you've seen it 10000000 times in other MMO already. The zones also become less and less good.

I had this DVD of Disney next to my keyboard and popped it in for some background music, got so bored with Rift I started watching it instead.

Some of yall are going to say that I'm just bored with the genre. I don't think that's the case, I'm bored with the run-a-mill quest MMO that keep copying each other.

You're not the only one, the quest system is absolutely terrible.

Very polished game but I have to agreed, just nothing new.

I hear you.  It will be a good game for those that can stomach the grind of these types of quest.  The Rifts.   I thought we would at least see something different, but if you pay attention, they always spawn in the same places and on Q.   Nothing actually all that dynamic about them and they happen way to often and that makes you burn out on them.   When you first get in the game they are super cool.  They are really fun.   Then you realize just how scripted they really are.  They are not random.  The mobs always follow the same path when the attack and they always spawn the same number of mobs and yeah....cool at first...after your 30th invasion it gets old.   I wish those people that like this sort of game best of luck, its just more of the same to me.

My friend keeps telling me it's beta, but they can't overhaul the game in a few weeks. I think I need to assume that what I see is what I'll get at release. I cancelled my pre-order, just hope I'm not charged yet. I need to stop getting burned on MMO and get disappointed. Happens every time. Still though,  they should innovate, genre is going to die like this.

  • TealaTeala Member RarePosts: 7,627

I, too, just canceled my pre-order.   I guess I'll be playing lots of single player games for awhile.  Do love my Mount and Blade.

  • KazlinKazlin Member UncommonPosts: 124

I canceled my preorder as well well trying to from the trion site they dont advertise it thats for sure.

Some of you were quite positive before beta 6. How come you suddenly changed your mind? =)

Well, at least I got to agree that Rifts happen way too often. ^^

The so called best part of the game "Rifts" just become an absolute annoyance after awhile. If the pvp was good then it would be a cool thing to do instead of the same damn rifts over and over. Unfortunately the pvp is not so good either.

Dude I have no sympathy what so ever! You are playing an EQ clone with the same gameplay style as all the other EQ/WOW style games that has been released for the last 10 years !!! How could you not be bored to tears by this repetitive level based shite?

With quests like kill X of Y and take X to Y then kill X of Z. Level up. Then do more of the same mindless stupid grinding nonsense.

I tried WOW when it was first released and after a week I suddenly stopped and said to myself I think I have played this game before. I had - every other MMO was the same. Different graphics of which RIFT has lovely ones but the same old shitty gameplay and snore combat system.

Why not try out some of the more innivative MMOs out there:

    - Darkfall
    - PlanetSide (PlanetSide 2 coming out soon)
    - Xyson
    - World War 2 Online

These are games where you are have to actually be able to use the mouse and aim to fight and there are no boring quests, no levels as such and the action is all player made.

There is no excuse for anyone complaining that they are bored by RIFT. Surely you would have to be mentally ill to be able to play what is basically the same game as the rest of the 10 year + old EQ clones?

As much as i wanted to agree with you i lost you at EQ Clone if it was a EQ clone i would have not canceled my preorder  this game couldnt touch EQ with a ten foot pole nor can most games released that last 10+ years

I know what you mean.  I can't bring myself to actually play anymore...its frustrating...not because I actually want to like the game, but because each and every game I play reminds me of how much better the demo for GW2 was...yeah...I brought GW2 into this.

I used to TL;DR, but then I took a bullet point to the footnote.

I'd consider Rift if the animators at Trion didn't suck at their job. Seriously, fire those clowns and re-do the animations and spell effects, they look only slightly better than darkfall.  *shudders*

Man, saw this right when I was going to log onto beta 6 -.-

How much WoW could a WoWhater hate, if a WoWhater could hate WoW?
As much WoW as a WoWhater would, if a WoWhater could hate WoW.

It is still a much better game than the current EQ or the heap that is EQ2.  EQ pre Scars of Velious was better but that was many years ago. It will do for a few months at least in theory.

It has nothing better then EQ current  or Past good luck with the game it will not last for me i would throw it away in a month after i max out a toon and beat  the 2 raids  in no time its another casual mans game.

  • karat76karat76 Member UncommonPosts: 1,000

Have to agree to disagree as I find EQ to be a bloated corpse of its former self. As for casual fest good. With outside priorities how many adults can spend 6 or more hours a night playing a game. I'm sure eventually some developer will make something that will cater to people who live in their mmo and I hope they have fun but I can't be that guy anymore.

I felt that same way after beta 2, people were saying it got better after lvl 10. I was so bored that i was forcing myself to play this game, it took me 4 betas just to get to lvl 19 because the game was just that boring and blend. Beta 5 I  didnt even bother to log in and here with beta 6 i havent even bothered to acept the invite. And i agree whole heartly that the core feature of the game, the Rifts and the invasions become more of an annoyance than fun.

People will say its burnout of the genre, but i disagree. I started playing the CO f2p and im having a blast in a game that i wouldn't even give the time of day, and to top it i even subbed to CO so i know it's not burnout. Hopefully GW2 and ToR can make some magic happen, until than i'll be playing CO. I'm wishing Rift all the success in the world, but it's just not the game for me.

I'am still not sure if I really do like Rift, or if I really just WANT to like Rift.. It's been so long since i've played a MMORPG outside of EvE and I LOVE being there on gameday releases (especially MMORPGs), so i just don't know if i wanna buy Rift because of that or if i wanna buy it because i like it.. Honestly i was excited about Beta 6, i just made a new char (Guardian) and got to silverwood.. But after that, i alt+tabbed and now i'am playing EvE lol..

Oh well, i'am gonna buy it.. I certainly won't be calling it my MMORPG "home" as i will still be subbing to EvE.. but i'll gvie it a shot and if it keeps me occupied until SWTOR then it'll be worth the cash.

I don't know about bored but I do know that after playing Rift for the past few tests, I went back to LOTRO. The quests are similar but I enjoy the LOTR setting much more than RIft's.

Here is a suggestion, don't get caught up in this hype wave of joining a beta. Sure, you canceled your pre-order and ended up spending nothing, but this fun could have lasted longer if you waited until they offered free trials or something similar for you to try the game in a post-release state. I'm not talking about money since it might not be a major thing when compared to the experience you could have had.

I think these quicker rift spawn rates could ruin the immersion and make the game boring like it did for you, especially the variety was not developed for that rate of occurrences. Fun can be a pretty delicate thing, since the rifts were not so appealing you ended up paying more attention to how the quests are just the same as previous games, and there you go, no more fun.

The extent of your knowledge on MMOs shows greatly with this statement " questing is just like WoW. Kill X, Give item A to NPC B. I have done like 200 of those kill quests by now. Jesus."

Also 200 times.  So got any ideas? What is your grand plan for leveling? The MMO world is just all ears for your ground breaking concepts. Please enlighten us.  Come on sherlock?

Just terrible zone. Look at these horrible graphics man.

The game has many reedeming qualityes , but  combat and questing are not the ones

They are both boring and more old fashioned than most.

Zone design is also too packed.

Mob is everywhere cluttered. It really doesnt feel like a world.

How would you make combat better? It's exactly like all other games, it feels as smooth as others ( I think )

I just think you guys are way too much. Try to have fun. Don't "overdo". If you're not sure its great, wait for a trial.

I have so far played to Lv. 9 only, because I don't want to see everything and I don't want to ruin my release experience.

Have to agree with the OP.

Another problem I find with the quests is that they're pretty weak from a lorewise perspective, the quest texts are pretty short and don't tell you much other than where to find the mobs.

    I agree!

Had the combat + everything relating to the characters been more interesting, I would be in there RIGHT NOW. Instead of playing a game that's in a foreign language.

What is it I do the majority of the time when I'm in an MMO? Combat. It needs to be *thumbs up* since it's 2011 or I gtfo.
