Seeing as the tone was already lowered may I add, "For $150 I would expect at the very least a full sized Yoda sex doll" because you know the hardcore fans would so want to, they would feel ashamed in the morning, but they so would do it.
I have ordered the CE, hoping for the Jabba doll as this would still be a marked improvement on real life achievements of late, no really, true story.
It seems the pricing for the game is giving people a bad taste here. I dunno, noone is forcing anyone to buy the extra stuff. On the other hand, as always it is all about the money for puiblishers so not a shocker here.

Honestly after looking at the price of other statues that company makes, I find it shocking the CE isn't more.

The same place other people are getting the $300 million budget for TOR.
The whole point of a limited edition CE is that it's limited. Selling 500k copies of it? Not limited. There's no way there are that many of them out there.

Good luck with that! I wonder what the monthly fee will be.
Definitely looks fishy. Looks like they're trying to do what Cryptic did and their "LIfetime Subscriptions" for Star Trek Online (trying to get as much money from people as they can before the players realize it's a terrible game and stop subscribing).
{mod edit} I hope the game rocks, but I honestly don't see a future for it. Hope I'm wrong, though.

This was only the first salvo at grabbing revenue, don't worry, I expect life time subs to be offered at some point, for the cheap price of like, 300.00.

It's one thing to not like the game, it's another thing to make wild claims such as "ToR" doesn't have a future.
ToR will do well, no doubt about it, Star Wars fans will make sure of that, this is just what people are going to have to accept and get used to no matter how much the reality hurts. Will ToR be the best mmorpg of all time? That is still debatable but it will be one of the most successful mmos of our generation regardless.
There is no way (in my opinion) this game is worth more than $70.00 with the inbox content offered for the CE. I don't really feel that the promised virtual content will be worth more than $10.00 tops. Then again, I am not a member target group for this game anyway. I don't really care about this game either way.
What I want in a Star Wars game is the ability to fly between stars carring cargo, selling this and that buyint other things and exploring/mapping, then selling those maps to the players. I don't really see that coming to any Star Wars games anytime soon. I don't care about Jedis or the Sith. LIkeable movies, yes but there is not enough to this game to matter enough to me to even monitor it.

Good point. SWG somehow managed to last for 8 years despite the numerous problems it has had thoughout its lifespan. If a star wars game that is that screwed up can last for 8 years then I'm sure TOR can do much better.
They also offer the regular pre-order for what, $60 bucks or so. Star Wars has a HUGE fan base. If people will pay the $150 price tag then why wouldn't they offer it. Its not like they are only offering the CE. Buy the cheaper one if it bothers you, or don't buy it at all.

And , lets be honest , there isnt anything else out there is there ? ...
Whys everyone so jaded all of a sudden thinking its all about a money grab? Bioware knows they have a great product and isnt afraid to charge for it. If you dont like it, dont buy it, but its not like they are all of a sudden becoming extremly greedy and surging the price of CEs cause they arnt.

Is it a money grab? Of course it is because they want to make money. It isnt because they could possibly think that a little statue and some ingame items are worth 150. The margin of profit I would guess is pretty hefty on this one. It sold out so people will pay it of course. And this is EA we are talking about so of course its about greed.

Oh I would be willing to bet that it's going to be a good game. I only think that people are still going to be disappointed because everyone thinks it's going to be "ground breaking".
In a sense it will be in that Bioware will work thier typical storyline magic (or drivel depending on taste). As for the MMO part, I think they've pretty much done what Blizzard did, not that this is a WOW clone, but rather that they've just taken standard systems from other games, woven in the story, add a bit of show polish and viola!
Voice acting and cinematics are not what I'd call "game systems".
Anyway, back on point. There's always going to be two groups of people. The money wielding fanbois and the people that shake thier heads at such foolishness. How do I know? Because I am one. Just not for Star Wars.
But this is definitely shaping up to be one of thise times!
The sort of amusing side to it is the ethics of such a thing. Bioware knows what they are doing. The fanbois know what they are doing. And each side knows that the other side knows. You know?
People need to quit bitching about the price... I ordered the CE, and its money well spent IMO... Hell I blow that much on one night at the bar, seems to me this is a better deal lol.

Sounds to me like they know their game can't deliver and thus must get as much money out of the fans as possible before going F2P soon after.

All the SWTOR pre-order prices are laughable, anyone would think this game is going to be
half decent, call me a sceptic, but i wont be surprised if it gets past the 30 day free sub,
like most the mmo's of the past 7-8 years... meadiocre.
I may be wrong but im not prepared to take these expensive gambles anymore, im getting sick
of paying out huge sums for collector editions & deluxe editions that just go dusty in my cabinet.
