Well the price may be high but just went to pre-order it and all the vendors listed for the U.S.A are sold out. So guess I will buy the deluxe version instead.

Gamestop sold me one less than an hour ago. Try checking there.
Edit: I also got a free Pizza Hut P'zonne with my gamestop order adding even more value!
Yea, the company that makes the statue charges roughly 60-75 bucks per Star Wars Bust so you're understating that by a bit. The math would be:
Statue: $50-60
Game: $60
Soundtrack: $10
Authenticator: $7
A book: $7

Now include stuff like 6 days free, a couple of in-game items, and the like and it's looking pretty good. Now, if you don't care for the statue you have to value the in-game items MORE or else it's not as worth it or you're simply willing to pay for it.
Small investment in something that could be worth many times that amount if kept in collectable condition.
Its Starwars, its like Coke-Cola, anything with its name on it will draw collectors.
I hear you can "invest" in hangers, cookware and cars too! Seriously though, I would be cautious with the word invest with these kind of things. It looks cool, some people will love it I am sure.
There is a collectors market. Starwars is a collectable name. No long term investment is without risk.
You went to school, banking on the fact you would live long enough to use that knowledge. You could of just dropped out, got high with your friends, and lived for the day.

No one is twisting your arm. People complaining about it didn't stop both the EA store AND Amazon-freaking-dot-com from selling out in the FIRST day.
I come on here to talk with people and get new info and I see lists of all you people crying over the price and yet OBVIOUSLY people are buying it. If people are willing to spend $75 bucks on a monocle in Eve do you REALLY think people wouldn't spend $150 on a HUGE franchise like SW?
Go out, get a job, save some money, buy an awesome game. If you want the CE, save up and buy it. If not, go cheap but don't expect to get all the perks of those who buy early/expensive. EA/Bioware already commented that the perks aren't anything other players can't earn in some form. Earn'm.
Wait a minute...
So you are saying that if someone doesn't think it's worth it or thinks it's a "rip-off" then they don't have to buy it?
And that if others think there is some value then they can buy it?
And (and follow me here) if one wants to buy things that are a bit pricey then getting a decent paying job might help them to do that?
The devil you say!!!!!
Like Skyrim? Need more content? Try my Skyrim mod "Godfred's Tomb."

I missed out, they all sold out by the time I got home from work, I had to go Digital Deluxe instead. With DD we get all the virtual crap except the store, pretty pissed with that actually. If your gonna sell a Digital Deluxe version at least include all of the virtual crap.
I bought the CE today so damn hard, my credit card company called and asked if everything was ok.
What I dont understand is why people come on here complaining about how much it costs to get the collectors edition. If you cant afford it, then dont get it. Get the regular copy and be about your business. They arent going to give this game away so every tom, dick and harry can get the CE. Yea, I could have used that money to buy something else but this is the kind of stuff I like to spend MY money on. Why does anyone care on this forum about what other people do with their money? Newsflash, it isnt your money. Hell, if I want to wipe my ass with $150 and flush it down the toilet thats my business.

Either way you slice it it doesn't seem too pricey to me. Then again I am sitting next to a bust of Duke Nukem, the Halo Reach statue, the Aion statue, Dante from Dante's Inferno, a Master Chief bobble head and have some other goodies tucked away.

I like collector's items...so I buy them...
You, sir, are like me, only not me. I've got my Fallout Bobblehead, Little Big Planet 2 bookends, halo reach statue, and a buncha other trinkets myself on my desk. I cycle them with my mood.

I'm willing to bet the reason the CE is $70 more then the DDE is mainly because the store is full of kick butt fluff with new inventory available every anniversary and probably holidoys too. =P
Grrrrr!! don't say that! I can feel a Nerd Rage taking over me.
Wanted to comment on the Authenticator key included in the Collector's Edition box, and was redirected to this thread when that other thread was locked.
Soo, here it is.
Personally I would appreciate devs including some kind of Authentication Key with all versions of the physical game. Its kind of like a Hug when a dev is looking out for your well being.
Like including a little hug in every box.

That would be cool but I prefer my authenticator on my phone.
This has been said a ton on the SWTOR forums here. If you cant afford it dont buy it .There ARE other options and you are not forced into buying the CE.....imo the people crying simply cant afford it and are jealous.I collect figures and i actually think its bad ass that its included as an option! All because the CE might not be for you doesnt mean other people wont be interested.I come to this website daily for news on mmos but i really am getting sick of the haters that will say anything to badmouth a game they have never even played it really makes me skip past so many posters and leaves me feeling like the majority of the information i get here is just worthless.
For starters, the used prices are closer to the actual value of the package (which is ~48$+ tax US). Posting one copy, calling it new, and asking if anyone will pay 2700$ for it doesn't make it worth such. It's basically an attempt to sucker someone in to buying it.
** The collector's edition for WoW (pre-launch) ran for about 80$ US, and has arguably more content in it than is being promised with the SWTOR collector's edition. That's ~half the price for the same amount of content, if not more.
In this case EA control's the supply, and is basically gauging the demand via overpricing it's product. Hell, the STANDARD edition is almost as much as other games were charging for their premium editions @ launch. They'll probably still get away with this because it's starwars, but it is what it is.
Do you have one? I do. And it's not about it being a lot, it's about it being too much for what they offer, and giving lots of in game items and goodies to people who paid extra. It's p2win mentality and it's quite justifiable for people with common sense to get upset about it.
Wait P2W? What are you referring to?
This is the norm for CE's, being upset about it? Disappointed sure, but I see no point in getting angry over this. I mean really? People will find anything to rage over these days.
I feel it's worthless junk I'd just throw in a box so I don't buy CE's, however come on, there's nothing to get angry over, in the end it's just merchandise, and pixelated trinkets.
"that guy got the super secret superman tee I wanted, and it was the last one!!!!!!!!!!" <--disapointing? maybe, reason to rage? Hardly.

You know what is tiring, people who get on these forums and awesome objections to prices automatically means someone can't pay for it. It's silly and baseless. I don't care if someone wants to blow their money on this pretty box and statue that may or may not have additional value down the road, just don't call it an investment. I heard the same thing when beanie babies were the craze, and 1000 dollar pots, and cars... most these things are not investment tools.

If i manage to play the beta and the game really kicks ass, then ill buy the collectors the keyboard the mouse and the mousepad.
If the game is just moderate or good but not a lot of fun then i may buy only the simple version.
It's hard to blind buy after all these fails of mmos that coming out one after another.
bought mine for the key fob, I dont ever want to get hacked, lets hope it pretty much prevents this from happening 100% of the time.
