And it's one that clearly worked, considering the fact that the CE sold out everywhere in a matter of hours.
Of course it worked, most money grabs do.
I think the term money grab is a little silly. They did throw all that together for a higher price, sure, but lets face it, you could just as easily call the deluxe a money grab, or the standard edition a money grab with a 60 dollar price tag.
COULD they have made a collectors edition cheaper? Sure they could have, in fact, thats pretty much what the deluxe is. I see this particular CE being geared very closely towards those that have read all the books, kept up with the comics, most likely know more about the statue than most pepople just looking forward to the game, even for the star wars aspect.
Money grab? I don't see it being any more of a money grab then any other releases honestly.
So you are saying that the Vendor is something you would be willing to do without? They intentionally put that vendor in the CE in order to generate sells to help out Gentle Giant. Most people would not have bought that CE if it didn't have that store in it.
I read what that store involved and I said "meh, I only have one real choice then, if I want to be at the same advantage as everyone else that is playing."

dude they said in the Q&A last night that the items will not offer a power advantage. they are equal to power as items you can get elsewhere just with different looks

Please read what Whilan wrote. It has been made quite clear that you are not at any advantage or disadvantage due to the in game vendor. It will sell only fluff items and nothing more.

Weapons and armor huh? Sounds like a must have to me...
To you sure, but to everyone else? If I can earn it in game, I could care less.
Besides what would be the point in adding exclusive items, if they can't be used against what's in the game? If they were better your argument would make sense , but they're not.

weapons and armor with same power but different looks of stuff in the world. how is that must have?
Because, one person can simply buy them, while another person has to go earn them....Unless of course you can just buy them off the AH anyhow, then it really doesn't make much difference.

Because, one person can simply buy them, while another person has to go earn them....
And yet, the two weapons ARE IDENTICAL except in cosmetic terms.
If I can go and earn the same weapons that the CE vendor sells, what's the problem again?
I'm sure there is some kind of advantage to having this vendor... W/E the case is they need to make available more CE so people can have the opportunity to purchase them if they want....

The only advantage is that the CE weapons will have looks that are different from the ones that people can get through normal gameplay. That's it.

The differences are COSMETIC. That's it.
Do you think they are gonna make the CE available again for purchase or what?
Doesn't matter to me. I had no interest in the books, or the statue or the physical swag. I pre-ordered the digital deluxe version.
If it means that much to you, wait a few months and you'll find the ones that didn't sell on sale for cheap. I've bought CE's for other games dirt cheap just by waiting a while.
Meh, it was a tad high but they could obviously get away with doing it. The price made it a no brainer for me ... no way Im spending 300 bucks for just 2 games. I normally get CE's for the extra bonuses in game which aren't much to speak of .. but generally it isn't that much more so I would do it. In this case, I don't care about a statue and the in game extras werent enough to make me spend that kind of money. Nice for a big collector though I bet and I harbor no ill will toward Bioware for doing it ... the digital seemed to be fine enough for me.
I'm an older guy, over 40, and I make an average wage. For me, the price is a bit high but the value I get from the CE editions is worth it. I still have my cloth map of Brittania and the UO poster is still up in my basement. I have the SWG art book with a few others in my coffee table and my little bothan figure is still sitting on a shelf next to my PC. Everytime I look at those I remember back to playing those games and how much fun I had. To me, its worth it. I wish it was priced at $75 like others but I'll give them some slack considering what this game promises.

Looking at it as a long term investment thats going to be around for a long time the CE and the novelty items do have some appeal. I just hope that the uniqueness of them doesn't disappear so that the CE owners can always display their (extra) support.

For the record: "Primarily" is not the same as "only"
keep seeing people complaining about the $5 preorder and the short bus riders seem to think its extra.. but its not...
i preordered from origin and the $5 was part of the price total,it was 59.99 total, it says i owe 54.99 once it launched. its like when you preorder a game at a store they make you put $5 down and pay the rest when you get the game...
some one else asked about how much i would pay a month to play, $15 it will not cost anymore to run than any other MMO idc how much they spent to make it. if they try to get anymore than that i'll cancel my preorder, i know its only $5 more but if they start charging more others will and it won't stop.
$150 is a lot of money but, meh. I already pay a decent amout in subs for different games. I'd just cancel one of them if a game was good enough to hold my full attention.

That's why when they have expansions eventually... each one will have a CE version!!

Amazon just restocked with more CE's for those interested.
A buddy of mine was finally able to get his copy. Yay for more CE becoming availible.

im pretty sure its only gana be 15$ a month, by saying $20 or more it sounds like your just looking for a reason to complain about prices.

I bought 2 CEs. One for me, one for eBay.

=/ Why eBay? there isn't a shortage in stock to price gouge and *PRE-ORDER OFFER EXPIRES WHEN PRODUCT RELEASES. CODE EXPIRES DECEMBER 31, 2012
Whatever, they will be happy to take your money.
15$ a month is enough for any mmo if it gets higher than that i wont play at all.
