Plot's in MMO are a joke.

You kill this very important fella or whatever....jubiii, but then you realize that everyone else have done the same on your server. This makes the plot a joke.

I know plenty of people who play MMOs for the storylines. The same people usually are the first to drop once endgame is reached and they are just repeating the same raid continuously.

Games which released based upon good story:

    • World of Warcraft (Based upon 3 games, 2 expansions and several books it originated with a devoted fanbase interested in the story, and that story is still going-although very warped)

    • Eve Online (GMs would often introduce new story arcs and interesting news)

    • Guild Wars (it is highly linear in story progression and to say it was not story focussed is to deny the game)

    • Lord of the Rings (You think people play this because they think hobbit women are hot? Not likely, story again)

Now I believe most of the games listed above are some of the most common referred to MMOs with gamers... so how does story not matter?

'I've been a bit bewildered by the topic of "I love tor because its going to be the first story based game EVAR!" not that I don't see this in a generally positive light, but this is considered an innovation? Well A GW2 has been boasting about this for sometime, but I haven't even seen credit given where credit is due. It's just confusing to hear people constantly saying that TOR was the first mmo with the idea of a 100% fully voiced game when even this isn't original in their realm.

Regardless, I used to have high expectations for this game, especially when Bioware boasted about having dynamic combat when we end up getting a WoW replica, this truly disappointed me, not to mention space combat is a joke, I can't imagine wanting to go through one of those missions more than once, hoping it would end sooner a quarter of the way through. I truly thought this might be able to live up to the ideal Star Wars universe potrayed as an MMO. It's truly disappointing, especially the fanbase really seeing that much innovation come out of things such as "omg my static player house is a ship so kewl" and "Companions crafting is innovation and a reason to play this game." I mean if thats the most evolutionary aspects of this game its truly sad, and the cover system seems useless at this point in time seeing I haven't seen it used by more than one class. Its truly sad to see the direction this market is headed. Honestly their are only very few games to look forward to, and this definitely has been crossed off the list.

Bioware had the chance to make a great game here, but they blew it, they turned a Star Wars Universe into a kiddy, generic, theme-park, its horrible.

Although frankly this discussion opens up issues that are yet to be experienced (!!!) in order to be judged..i cannot but say this is due to this forum, which, needing to pump out new 'articles', makes every tiny in-game issue into a whoooole new book, open to discussions and interpretations,as if this is nuclear science..so logical that the forum users fall into the same trap, overanalysing a game's single element,or a couple of it,prior to even having seen it..themselves..its why we got hype for morons, and patience for everyone else..

New and unique? nothing..BUT..it will probably, and emphasis on probably,be the first time since WoW that something works fine,is simple to grasp, flows well, while at the same time -also- hinting at a depth (both in content and possibilities) inherrent within it. Much i as i flame Blizz,i have yet to subscribe into ANY mmo where i just..find..things..working..and simply too,so i dont need to read sites on mechanics and what not..yes, Rift accomplished that too. Indeed, and as then,so i say again, congratulations to them..but they failed ultimately on the depth department..just like Blizz did ever since TBC..which is why i am saying that for moi, this is what TOR brings..a working just fine, smooth game, with simplicity in the mechanics, ala WoW, but with a certain depth, in time if not content, that will as they claim, i have not been in it, allow both solo and group long-run subscriptions..thats new enough for me..just have another look at your other choices, and think on how many offer this pair,in the themepark genre. You want new and unique, you should know by now where to look, which is most certainly not in a game open to just everyone. simple.
