Yeah because that's not how all other MMO's have worked.

Well.. since you brought it up.. WoW requires you to add a subplan before being able to play, it may have changed when they added the f2p-lite trial.

Rift required you to add a sub plan prior to playing..

    Every SOE mmo did..

    Every Ncsoft mmo did..

    Every single Funcom mmo did..

    Both FF mmo's did.

    DAOC did..

Heh, so just about every single sub-based mmo required you to add a subplan prior to actually being able to play

The game is back up.  People were warned so the blame go squarely upon the shoulders of those who procrastinated.  It wouldn't have mattered if it had ended 24, 12 or 6 hours ago, people procrastinate and pay for it - then come bitch on the forums about it...another day, another MMO player.

    nope.

I tried paying for it a day or so ago and several times since, and always got messages "that credit card doesnt work"

Tried two credit cards, from two different banks.

Theres a thread about it on the customer service forums... I'd link it to you but trying to use the forums puts me into a "waiting room"

They knew hype was high, they had solid pre order numbers. There's no reason for the above mentioned error, there's no reason that their forums should be on a  server unable to handle this traffic. There's no reason their game servers should be so small (read a cap of 4500. Never bothered to confirm).

And the fact that's real bad, is they're aware of the credit card problem and are really taking a "eh you'll figure out a way to pay" stance on it. Rather than extend the grace time, or comp people unable to sub, they're not doing anything. "Go buy a game card"   "make a paypal account".

    Disgusting handling of the problem.

Yeah because that's not how all other MMO's have worked.

Most other MMOs don't have their subscription service crash after keeping a shit tonne of people bottled up for four hours.

For someone suggesting that he knows human behavior doesn't understand it very well.  All people would do is close the window and then we'd be here listening to people who procrastinated bitch and complain about the crappy website

The sub service didn't crash, it's overwhelmed.  Also, the PEOPLE bottlenecked the process, not BioWare.  People just want to blame others when they mess up...classic.

They also could have sent out a newsletter or like suggested many times before .. you know.. what just about all mmos in history have done.. require us to put up a sub-plan before being able to play.

Also think of the hours people could've been setting this stuff up while game server was down.. Even more reason to keep the two on a seperate que..

Human Behavior or not.. They should know to allow access for people to subscribe open as often as possible.. They seem to be on the track of taking it down whenever they can..

You mean like an email, which they sent out?  Or maybe a warning on the launcher so it's in your face - yet another time - like they did?

The people who were playing without a sub were early-access peeps and they had the above warnings.  The fault is nobodys' but their own.

on the other end it says 27 days left on your acount. So i cannot play until i give them my info...

This is really great.. The game has flaws and doing things like this will not make people enjoy your game....

    omg EA/Bioware are destroying themseleves

always been like that in mmo's, in order to use the free month, you have to subscripe to the game. but i thought we had a month free, not 27 days

    well it is the 22 so 20 21 22 thats 3 days.

Well what i think is stupid is that ive bought the game trough origin. Hi you guys have my stuff already...

lets see today is 12/22 and when I try to access game they *slap hand* and say bad boy you cant play but they are taking the free day away?   They should have made you set up a sub when you entered your box code, problem would be solved but no its 2 seperate things, I was waiting to see if I had to enter a CC# and once again the server over at EA lies on the floor twitching...

The patcher message was.. questionable at best, Btw.. Im playing right now before you come up wth more smart.. remarks.

They went wrong by trying to re-invent the wheel. they should have done it like every mmo in history has done, you know.. the time honored and functional system. Forcing us to pick a sub-plan when we add the registration code.

Having the button actually there and/or functional would have helped too prior to this.

Having to poach the site was a bad idea as well.

This was the message in the last email I received from them.

The game is about the launch

We hope you've been enjoying your time as one of the first to start playing Star Wars™: The Old Republic™. Servers will go live soon. If you have your Product Registration Code, redeem it now to ensure uninterrupted access to your game.  If you do not have your game yet, be sure to enter your Product Registration Code as soon as you receive it. The official game launches on December 20, 2011  at 12:01 AM EST.

Subscription page is currently overloaded with about a million pre ordered all trying to sub at once. Been in a waiting que for over 20 mins. THIS IS ABSURD.

  • cruelcyniccruelcynic Member Posts: 11

You can blame the customer all you want but when it comes down to it EA is just not ready to take peoples money when they want to give it to them. That is just bad business. Plain and simple.

The login page is in a queue at the moment =-P aswell as having to wait to subscribe im going to have to wait to get in the game >.<

I suppose they expected people to set up their subscription plans over the last week, not all at the same time today :/

The only fix for this is to allow people to set them up over the next few weeks

  • rawfoxrawfox Member UncommonPosts: 788

the real shit is, i entered my product code already at the 15th, but there was no subscribtion cycle available to choose from.

People were expecting to be able to play their free 30 days without having to put a CC on file.  I should have read this more carefully because it was stated clearly on the original signup page.  I blame myself for procrastinating.
