If a game requires blocking and dodging, nothing will ever touch the comfort and feel of a gamepad.  PC gaming is on it's way out anyways, deal with it.

Also if this news are true, i wouldn't expect it to come on ps3/xbox before late 2013.

Its not about lazy its about fair. How can you give one set of gamers more options on their UI that gives advantages in combat, crafting so on and so on and not another that pays the same amount. Now its PC gamers win more because they have a mouse. If you have played any console MMOs that run on PCs as well you would get it. Go download DCU-Online and see if you like the UI. Within 10 levels you will want to quit. This is a sad day if its true. Even if Anet says that they will have 2 UIs in the end they will need to nerf the PC UI for balance sake when people freak out and they will.

I'm with Nan on this one. I also played DCUO for a time...and the UI was horrible. The chat system was also incredibly borked (as to make it compatible with consoles). And probably worst of all, game breaking exploits/bugs went months with no fix because SOE had to split its time and resources to patch both the PC and console versions. I, for one, am kind of hoping for a PC only release...DCUO kind of killed the whole 'cross platform thing' for me.

Anyway, from GW2Guru, the below quote from Arena Net in a thread similar to this one:

I think "stay calm, don't panic" will become my new mantra.

We stated multiple times in public that we have a small team working on a console version, but that we are fully dedicated to make the most kickass game for PC (I think the official statement did not use the word kickass, in case someone wants to semantically disect my post  ).

So yeah,  we're all probably blowing this a bit out of proportion...

but if you listen to the sound bits, the korean lady translator mentions gw2 going to console at least twice.

    I've got the straight edge.

What was the last MMO to ever be successful and be on multiple platforms? (PC, Playstation, Xbox etc)  Has there been one yet, or does GW2 aim to be the first?  (I would not call DCUO successful having gone FTP in less than a year of release)   Or was it Final Fantasy IXIIIXXwhatever on the Playstation 2 and PC?

Thats how a gw2 fan thinks, if something is bad or sux in other MMO, it will be awesome or great in GW2.  And about GW2 for consoles, anyone  remember DCO?.

Hm, so I've had a good think about this and I'd say jump would go on button "A" and weapon skill 4 would be moved to RB whilst weapon skill 5 would be moved to RSB = Right stick button since it takes a long time to recharge it will rarely be used but it's still quite accesible to the thumb. Or we could just put the jump button in the RSB and just hope your right stick doesn't lose its lustre.

    This is not a game.

You know, I would actually go with a "modifier" setup instead where say:

    RB, X, Y, B, RT do skills 1-5

    and

LT + (RB or X or Y or B or RT) do skills 6-10

I think it would be much easier to memorize and use, and it would leave A open for jumping, and the rest of the controller open for other things like dealing with quick menus, weapon swapping and stuff like that.

Oh and there's also the F1-F5 toolkit or whatever skills that some classes have...those would have to be somehow incorporated as well.

    This thread is hillarious.

GW2 by design is going to be one of the most casual MMOs ever made.

It is also going to have one of the most "serious" eSport PvP game play options of any MMO ever released.

And with the combat style how it is, this game is perfect for consoles.

So, how many players can be in one location in GW3?

Yeah, doubt the 360 can handle it.

So...now we're all lumped into the same category? I played DCUO...scroll up to a post I made earlier. You aren't bringing anything new or refreshing to the conversation.

Maybe LB could be the modifier to access the F1-F5 skills?  So like LB + (RB or X or Y or B or RT) could do the F1-F5.

I think it would be cool if the interface would "highlight" skills 1-5 when you aren't pressing LT or LB, highlight skills 6-10 when you are pressing LT, and highlight F1-F5 when you are pressing LB.  It would make it clear what you will be using.  What do you think?

That was simply in response to a quote by Arena Net on GW2Guru. It was in the body of the post you snipped.

Actually I was thinking, the Right button on the directional pad could be used as a way to access pocket items instead of using it for the emotes menu with X,Y,A,B and RB to select which one you want to use and "BACK" could be used as the weapon swapper but it doesn't seem quite as accessible as the button currently used for weapon swapping in the pc version though.... in general though, it seems to work.

    This is not a game.

I agree with him too, and he's actually not a rabid SWTOR fan...you haven't seen his more recent posts ;).

But anyway, why is this a bad thing?  I love the fact that I can use a controller for my PC version of Skyrim.  Yeah, the interface is a little clunky but it's not a big deal.

I personally am glad that GW2 is going to be on consoles.  It's really a market that has never been deeply penetrated by MMORPGs.  I think FFXI and PSO are the only popular MMOs that have ever been on a console...oh and the EQ spin off one.

My fears have materialised,GW2 will be super casual. Why would they aim for the console FPS crowd if it wasn't so?
