Intead of looking for !s you open your map and look for hearts or DEs. Nothing really changes, everything resets so little johnny can come and experience it also from the start.
The pve in gw2 is just the same ol stuff we've been doing since EQ but in a different wrapper. It has no longetivity(especially without a non cosmetic carrot). Pvp is where this game will have legs, since the WvWvW concept , while not new, is something that has been wanted. Even though its not persistent and for all intents and purposes is a larger and longer AV, it has much more re-playability and can be done from level 1(though you will miss skill points from pve areas).
TERA is out and it works. It works just like it's supposed to work and then some. It's a solid themepark PVE MMORPG with some new innovations especially with the combat. You either find that fun or you don't.
Like most people on here, I'm pretty burned out about with the questing system in PVE games.
contradiction starts with CON for a reason.
How can you be burned out on PvE questing and still think Tera is solid when it has the most bland quests? Oh wait, you called its combat innovative. The only thing special about Teras combat is its dodge ability which not new...or innovative.
There is nothing solid about an MMORPG with a really really bad story, bland less than average crafting, no depth to item/gear...it doesnt even have PvP rewards! In fact, there is no point to PvP other than having PvP.
Calling Tera solid is like stating Funcom has a solid release record of MMORPG games...just has no basis in reality.
Guess it all comes down to how low your bar is set to.
"Dodging" isn't the innovation. It's the aim based non-tab-targetting system that's the innovation. Dodging just adds to the complexity of the combat. So does active blocking.
The innovation is it plays like an action game but it's an MMO. I'm not sure where you go the idea that the only difference is that some classes can dodge.
The reason it's not a contradiction is because of the combat. It's way more fun doing the same-old-same-old when it's action-oriented.
I have a strong feeling that the poster above me is correct and TSW and GW2 will all boil down to the same thing, as usual. I've been through the hype-cycle more than once and basically all themeparks end up with the same kind of deal. If that's the case, then TERA's combat wins out. As for WvW, well, I will wait and see how that works. It could be great or it could be like RVR in Warhammer.
It's going to breed a whole new generation where all the newbies think it invented all these MMO concepts/features, when in reality they have all been done before.
It got annoying in WoW, but it took years... I just wonder, why do you care? If those people don't want to do the research, does it matter what they think as long as you're enjoying yourself?

sounds a lot like what im telling people who keep saying TSW is chaning questing by removing the map marker and making you read something to find the location...as if it hasnt been done before...

I just think it's funny for all the supriority and hatred GW2 fans feel over TERA, they can't seem to stay out of this forum. It's become a game for them since their game of choice isn't out yet. They've all just reduced themselves to forum trolls.
Also there's a misconception gong around with GW2 fanboys that I would like to clear up - No class has more than 1 skill that 'locks on'. Just because this skill is one of the first that sorc and archer gets doesn't mean that they continue to get them down the line. Even then, you still have to aim over the target to lock on first, and the homing missile is entirely dodgable and blockable.

Nice troll post.
Place everyone into a nice small group so it can be easily discounted outright. Thank God Tera was released in other parts of the world a year ago and there is no long standing proof that the game is average and cant retain players and there sure isnt a lack of information about the game while be live or anything...oh...wait...

Can you even read? What are you even talking about? I commented on a misconception with lock-on skills in TERA. How is that even remotely a troll post?
Jesus, GW2 fanboys are among the worst I've ever seen. There's no logic behind most of them, just spouting out the same regurgitated BS they read in some other fanboy thread.
You hate TERA, it sucks so bad, yet you can't seem to stop checking the TERA forums and discussing the game. Back to your GW2 cave, troll.
^^^ This coming from someone who can't let go of the fact that people are anticipating a game, therefore all of their posts in the Tera forums are obviously in defense of that game and have nothing to do with the content they actually wrote. Stop telling people to leave.

I've been playing MMOs long enough to have dealt with this fanboy hype craze more than a handful of times. My question is, why do they feel the need to come into the TERA forums to 'defend' GW2? If it's such a solid game changer, does it really need the same 6 dorks bouncing from thread to thread 'defending' it?
But thanks for proving my point - You're not here to discuss, you're here to 'defend'. Fanboys...
I'm telling people to leave because the trolling has gotten old. Especially since you guys just use the same regurgitated BS every single thread. It's old. You can't even have a decent discussion without it turning into GW2 wars anymore. It's the same handful of guys (like you) that are hitting up every single thread in this forum. You're just looking for trolling attempts and it's highly unbecoming.
You also told me to leave a thread where I didn't even mention GW2. Because I'm not a fan of Tera, I'm not allowed to respond to a ridiculous statement like people who don't enjoy Tera are "immature"?
You let your anti-GW2-fan blinders lead you around, yet you criticize others for being fanboys. I'm not going to argue about it, but look at your own posts if you're going to be fair.
You actually BROUGHT GW2 into a non-GW2 discussion in that other thread. Stop being defensive. Whereas I was attempting to find out the reason behind the immaturity comment, all you said was "Get out GW2 troll". Not very constructive, really.

lol so you fancy yourself constructive now? lol, just lol.
I don't have a problem with GW2, I have a problem with these zealot fanboys that feel like they have to defend and spread the gospel of GW2. It reminds of the crusades. This whole idea where you have convinced yourself that you need to go around defending GW2 is laughable.
I was really looking forward to GW2 - I played GW1 from release and loved every bit of it. However, unlike others, I'm waiting till the game is released to make a judgement. Having said that, playing TERA definitely made me rethink whether I was going to get GW2.
In telling you to leave, I don't actually expect you to leave. You'll also notice the 'shoo' portion - It's meant to be more of a joke. Again, you are entirely too sensitive and defensive over this game. I think it's time to take a step back and take a bike ride outside or something.
What exactly do you think you will be doing in D3/GW2/Secret World? Yeah I thought so.
D3 has almost nothing to do with mmo's its an hack and slash but you will kill 1000x instead 10x lol even more boring and limited.
GW2 you have dynamic events huge open worlds to explore and many many screts to discover alot pvp options also and playing with huge groups naturally no need for pary/raid just join with amazing friendly community where many will help and when you die they revive you also no dumb chat eather. Oh and beautifull graphics also. So no TERA at all.
TSW Boring waxmuseum with same kind of boring quests.

No, I don't. The only discussion in the GW2 forums I really got into was when someone suggested a PvP server for GW2. That discussion was more about FFA PvP servers vs PvE servers. Very little of it had to do with GW2 since I understand why GW2 doesn't have open world PvP.
Oh and I might have recommended waiting for the game to release a couple of times.
If that's trolling then there must be some new ultra-trolling word that I'm unaware of to describe what GW2 fanboys do here.
All the outnumbering says is that TERA players are, oh I don't know, playing their game? While GW2 fans have nothing better to do than troll. I wouldn't be entirely smug about that.
So this is "not responding to me anymore"? I just wanted to know why you complain about GW2 fans yet you brought up GW2 in a thread where it wasn't being mentioned just to tell me to leave? Seems if anyone's sensitive, it's you. No one can have a mind of their own, they're just defending GW2 in stealth, right? I'm putting you on block, I have no time for another hypocrite.

Does anyone know which world is bigger - TERA's or GW2's? A lot of PvP options? It looked like just the Alterav Valley-esque WvWvW. Please correct me if I'm wrong - But I digress.
I'm really curious about the red part. Don't let the beta community fool you about what the community may be like on release. Keep in mind that while the lack of sub is fantastic, it also allows lots of rotten kids to play the game.
I don't know if you played GW1, but I did. The community there was one of the worst I've seen. F2P and B2P communities tend to be quite rotten.
It seems like some people like the idea of grouping with no-chatting. I personally don't, but to each their own.
I think that's quite funny though considering what an uproar there was over WoW's dungeon matching system and how people would group together and never speak a word. When WoW does that they are ruining the community and dumbing down the game. When GW2 does, it's revolutionary
You TERA fans sure do like to talk about GW2 a lot.
It's time to sit back, relax and realize the TERA quest system is truly one of the most boring, sub-par systems in questing history. WoW's quests in Cataclysm are more interesting.
Talk to this guy, now come back to me, now kill 400 trees, now talk to this girl, talk to this guy, come back and talk to me, go the the camp and talk to this girl.
And after all that walking back and forth, congratulations, the story sucks too!
Questing is the weak part of TERA. The strong part is how nice the combat feels and works. Maybe instead of acting like a fanboy and questioning every person who criticizes the questing system in TERA, it is time to just admit how lame it is.

The problem is, alot of people have come to realize, Tera only offers a different combat, and thats it nothing else, zip, zero, nadda. Now alot of people, as I said would are starting to see the combat gets, meh after awhile. So they re now seeing the many shortcomings of Tera, and questing is one big blaring shortcoming. Not to worry, people soon will find something else like the vanarch system, will be a joke, and when BGs come, OWPvP is dead posts all over.

If you think WvW is like Alterac Valley then I don't think there is any help for you. I obtained max reputation in AV pre-BC. They are nothing alike. Absolutely nothing.
Anyway why people are bothering about GW2 vs Tera is beyond me. Its pointless argument.
The guild wars 2 dynamic events were boring as hell in my opinion so to each his own. I agree wthe the poster below you I think TSW is actually on to something their quests are hard, fun and actually make sense for what your doing.
Example: Town is overrun by zombies, everyone is taking shelter in a police station. Cop asks you to get supplies, wood for baracade, food to eat, ammo etc. So how do you do this? It has to find phone books which you use to look up addresses of stores, figure out where on the map that is then you go out there and fight your way to the stores to get the stuff.
Pretty simple and nothing to ground breaking its a gather X amount of stuff quest, but it makes sense and so you actually don't mind doing it because its how you would probably do it in real life.
That is only removing quest markers and making you find the quest location. Thats the only difference. Its the same quests as in other games...collect X at location Y.
In GW2 the only difference in the quests is that the location is either pointed out on the map or it doesnt even start unless you are at the location already...either way, the collection quests make sense and fit in with the area. Heck as stupid as the quest was, going through piles of poop for berries so you can breathe underwater made sense in WoW.
The berries are the type that COULD be eaten and passed undigested by the animals in the area...well heck, if only they removed the quest marker...oh wait, at the time that epac was released there were no quest markers in WoW, you had to read the quest text to know WTF to do. Guess WoWs quests were on par with TSW then. Oh wait...no phone book to go find to read...doh!
I don't really want to give a long explanation about another game in a Tera thread. So suffice it to say. You are not anywhere close to correct.
Ladies and Gentlemen. The ultimate problem with TERA's everything-else-but-combat being average, is that it is charging you 15$ per month.
I repeat : 15$, per month.
Would you imagine paying 15$ per month on top of 60$ for being able to play Bayonetta ?
Is Bayonetta a mmo? does it get constant content update?

I can stay that for every game, if you decide the thing that makes it different and say its boring everything becomes boring. I can make example with almost every single mmorpg out there. But sinice this is the Tera forum and we pretty much went off track with other game too much i'll reframe. Sorry you can't read the future so until it happens shut it.

Maybe instead of acting like a fanboy and questioning every person who criticizes the questing system in TERA, it is time to just admit how lame it is.
hmmm we have, for the past fucking 3 month people admit questing isn't Tera' strong suit, its you people who feel the need to bring it up ever single week for the past 3 month.
Ladies and Gentlemen. The ultimate problem with TERA's everything-else-but-combat being average, is that it is charging you 15$ per month.
I repeat : 15$, per month.
Would you imagine paying 15$ per month on top of 60$ for being able to play Bayonetta ?
***** Before hitting that reply button, please READ the WHOLE thread you're about to post in *****
If you think WvW is like Alterac Valley then I don't think there is any help for you. I obtained max reputation in AV pre-BC. They are nothing alike. Absolutely nothing.
Anyway why people are bothering about GW2 vs Tera is beyond me. Its pointless argument.
I don't really want to give a long explanation about another game in a Tera thread. So suffice it to say. You are not anywhere close to correct.
