Here are a couple of screenshots of the serverloads I took tonight just so anyone with ANY doubt would have them put to rest. Screenshots were taken at 6:40 pm pacific/9:40 pm eastern time, very much in the prime time. Every server on Medium load and a 5 of them on Heavy . I had to go in and create character to get to the server screen and then logged out and saved the screenshot on paint one at a time.
So whoever doubted that it was true, put these in your pipe and smoke 'em.

I'll be online later tonight, anyone who plays on Antonia Bayle send Ericsson a tell around 9pm! I'm finally level 14 now so can have lots of fun in Blackburrow (love the music there). And dang is Blackburrow challenging now! Those heroic mobs with the ^^^ used to be easy, now they will hand you your butt!
Those have to be altered somehow i mean seriously...... jk :P
Nice screenies
Hax!
I wish they'd just post the numbers like Mythic does and like EQ1 used to back when it first came out. I'd like to see WoW do the same.

And the point of this thread is? I bet you a nickle SOE has lowered the bar when it comes to server population. "heavy" is now what "medium" was at release. Considering even at a "heavy" load there are only around 1200 players on the server, which isnt much at all.

Please, show me your proof of 1200 people on a heavy server... Please... You have no proof, and no one does because /who all <lvl> does not work, it selectively limits your results, and some anon people don't show... and there is no way you can know how many people are a lvl that have more than 100 ppl on at a time...
Only a nickel? Wow, you must be convinced. I bet your proof is phenominal.
actually, your wrong pirrg
the numbers are not 1200 for heavy load. Nowhere near it. Its much higher. And I think you know that.

"actually, your wrong pirrg"
ill take that comment into my sig if you dont mind En1gma you just made my day

Playing the devils advocate here Adamska (we can't let Pirrg do that, his just bordering on paranoia )
What proof do we have that the /who all dont show some people. Are there instances in the world that dont show people? Is it people in zoning that dont show? How can we prove that? If we can prove that 1 person aint showing on /who whatever, the method of getting server population is proven wrong, and can only be used to get "At least xxx playing right now".
Second, if /who all (use the lfg window or better know as search for player instead) caps at 100 (it does), there is ways to work around that. Lets say /who all 50 caps. Add a check in the Alignment field. Then use your prefered method of doing math for adding the evil and good side. Now, if one side caps too, remove the aligment chech and do a search for mage/fighter/priest/scout. Sum. Sure it takes more time, but its possible.
I know there was a webpage tracking all tradeskillers on najena, and I believe it expanded to most servers early this year, does it still exist? Is there a similar age for adventurers? It would be possible to find most active players trough Eq2players. All above 50 can be marked "active". All that level within a month can be marked active. It takes time, and its impossible to track active accounts, just active players. And it wont track tradeskillers or the more then few that just socialize.
Its as I said in my topic. EQ2 is on its way up!

Im basing those numbers on what anarchyart posted himself during what he claimed was "heavy" load.

THis is a SOE tactic we've seen in SWG. What used to be Light is now Medium etc. etc.
Yeah it's a conspiracy to make it look like there are more players on, just like they did in SWG!!!
ROFL!!
Besides the fact that you guys have absolutely no proof for any of it, it's hilarious that your mommy lets you post here, and all you can do is bash a game you don't even play.

Baring any conspiracy theorys, the high population spikes are due to the recent launch of DoF.
The true test will be if these players stay with the game. Afterall, pre-DoF numbers rarely peaked above light unless you were on AB.

Wow... I think Pirrg is a politician...
Actually what Anarchyart posted for server numbers was at mid-day US time. Well *outside* peak time and not during *heavy* load. Matter of fact I believe he said they were numbers for a server that was showing light at the time.
Facts are your friend.
3 months ago MMORPGCHART.COM had EQ2 listed at about 250,000-300,000 subs.
4 weeks ago the New York Times quoted a number of 450,000-500,000 subs.
So in the past 2-3 months the population in EQ2 has been rising rapidly. Could be people moving on from WoW... could be old players coming back. Could be new players because of the DOF expansion out in stores... or, more likely, it's a combination of the 3.
The servers feel more crowded every day. Frankly I hope they lock new accounts on AB soon because it's getting sickeningly crowded during peak time LOL you can't walk 3 feet without running into another player at peak. Even in 'low level' zones.

from a player's point of view I find the servers very full.
Im not defending the game nor against it (its just a game)..but it is what it is. Screenshots of Server loads, being there myself, numbers from multiple fact-based sources. The facts are just there.
It would be another story if all these numbers are just made up. But I logged on today myself (Wednesday 2:30 PM CST) and all the servers but 4 says medium. And at night many of them are heavy
Even before the expansion these servers were almost the same. Before the expansion all the servers were medium but about 6.
Its the facts guys. And you know what? If you hate the game and the servers are full....who cares? EQ2 didnt sleep with your girlfriend
For everyone (fans and trolls): stop being so melodramatic. It feels like Im reading a damn soap opera script.

Wait until they discover you have a good twin brother En1gma! That's right, we know you locked him in the attack at a very young age....well he got out, and he's coming for you!

Again you're totally off. Read my post again, in fact here, I'll quote it for you. The numbers I posted were from midnight pacific that's 3 am eastern and the server load was light.
NOWHERE did I say the server was heavy load that late at night, and in fact it was on Light load. So over 1k players on light load and you think Heavy load is 1200?
Pwned again.
This thread is a waste of time, who really cares?
I am an Everquest2 fan. I love the game in fact. But these numbers mean nothing because a new expantion has just been released, people are bound too come back and take a look. Yes, there are alot more people playing now. yes, the game is much better now. But the real test will be if these people actually stick around.
Im not so sure, Majority of people are stupid with short attention spans and the desire to play easy game's which require no thought is the order of the day. Ok Im making broad generalisations but look at the popularity of WOW, a game I cant stand. it caters to that train of thought perfectly
Which is the point of the post. Even though EQ2 is MUCH more challenging than it ever was (it's downright tough now) the subscription rates still are at an all time high, which shows what I always though: people want to have fun AND be challenged too!
Some people think that WoW's popularity alone signifies that people want a game where they can waltz to the high end of a game in a few months, with quests that are very easy and basically hang around at level 60 in some hub shooting the breeze while they look for an instance group. People, evidently, like you. I think WoW got so many subs because it was the most fun, not because of its lack of depth.
With the combat revamp, and the TONS of content added since launch plus the new expansion, I believe that people will flock to EQ2 and stay there much longer because of it's higher level of difficulty and depth.
Honest question, in what way does EQ2 have anymore depth then WoW? You kill goblins all day in both games to level up to be able to kill the bigger goblins. Rinse, repeat, end self.

how bout this for an idea. before ANYONE answer's pirrg's question, how bout we REMOVE the whole idea of WoW from this thread. i truly wonder why it is that WoW ALWAYS ends up in posts about EQ2, basically no exceptions.
