I look forward to being able to level different classes with with same character but hope there is a free form option or at least cross over abilities. If not by class, by other mechanisms.
It's amazing how far reaching the random collection of ideas Gary Gygax came up with while playing/developing a game in his living room over 40 years ago has been. It has permeated an entire genre.
Would be neat to have to scout for and disarm traps. I was always disappointed EQ didn't do more with this feature for rogues and the like. Also, please leave out the Frogloks. They are creepier than murlocks or mirefins.
Vault-Tec analysts have concluded that the odds of worldwide nuclear armaggeddon this decade are 17,143,762... to 1.
Well Smed has mention Druids so i'll take that as a chance that EQN will most lightly have a class system.
Beastlord.. This class was not your ranger/hunter class that late mmo comers would think. More of a Shammy with a pet, closet i can think of is Vanguards Tuurgen Shaman.
Beastlord is a monk/shaman combo with a much stronger pet than shaman pet. A couple of expansion ago, BST also now have FD, which angered the monk community greatly.
I don't know why. It's a level 85 AA that has a cool-down that is much longer than the monk's and more easily disbelieved by the mob(s).
EQ1 should be the inspiration from which the classes in Next are drawn.
I can't wait for 8/2. The rage will be awesome.
Yeah from you lol, Smed has already said that the classes are more akin to EQ than EQ2. We know their are classes because he mentions a druid having to worship certain gods in a forest glade for some skills.
The rage will come from thew people who took Smed use of the word "sandbox" as literal lol.
Smed never mentioned anything about classes.
He has mentioned Druids having to worship certain gods for spells, so i wouldn't hold your breath hoping EQN doesn't have classes.
He also mentioned permadeath so i would take anything says with a pinch of salt.
Except that the game's lead producer immediately put out a tweet denying perma death in the game. There has been no counter tweet about the druid comment.

Anything they can do that adds more of the freeform and immersive elements of a tabletop D&D game in video game form, I am all for incorporating.
I think it would be cool if you started out without a class, but just picked a race based on the stats that you would prefer. During this time you would also pick your religion which might also prevent you from using certain abilities or taking certain paths (unless you converted or something).
Then you could seek out your profession masters or perhaps learn from other players who have reached a high enough ability.
By doing this, they could make it where you would have to travel and explore before really mastering a profession.
Let's say you started out as a Froglok and really wanted to be a monk. You would have to have good alignment with the Human city of Qeynos of the Iksar city of Cabilis (much harder to do) so that you can go practice at the dojos there or something. The different cities could offer different techniques.
On the other hand, let's say you are a troll who always dreamed of being a Monk which would be super unlikely. Then you would have to build your reputation or something so that you could train. You might have to start off as a warrior or something because your people don't know the way of the Monk.

OMG!!!!! Nerf the beast lords!!!!! They got no right to FD!!!!
*phew* yeaaaaaaah! O M G!!!! The rush!!!! The EQN forum battles are distant, but sooooo close that I can almost hear them... lol
My Ogre like powdered rogues, he wants to know if they come with sprinkles on top?
Yep, and if they're halfling, I hear they're filled with pie.
Mmmmm, pie. Halfling Anything's are the tastiest.
Just bash them over the head once or twice to make them go down easier. I hear they bite, kick, and scratch if you don't. You definitely don't want to be bitten by one. Halflings carry a slew of diseases, much like rats, but worse.

The Beatlord AA is nice, but nothing to write home about. Necros and SKs get a spell based FD. Rangers get RDTM
Besides, Monks can get their FD down to 6-sec recast, Imitate death, and other ways to make it to where their FD is more reliable (Stonewall).

You don't have to have every single sandbox feature to be a sandbox game or as I would put it, a sandpark game.
Except that the game's lead producer immediately put out a tweet denying perma death in the game. There has been no counter tweet about the druid comment.
i dont need a top 5 classes. SOE better add and improve every single class from the previous games.
You heard that, SOE? ..... *shakes fists*

But my top five classes...
1. Monk
2. Shadow Knight
3. Bard
4. Magician
5. Beastlord
No classes. SWG advancement system.
minus the light sabers
minus the blasters
minus the overpowered Jedi
But definitely must have overpowdered rouges

I'd have to pick:
Bounty Hunter!
Killing dragons is my shit
Isn't this game going to be a sandbox? Classes scream theme-park P.O.S. to me.
That said. No classes. Just a robust skill system.
Yep, and if they're halfling, I hear they're filled with pie.
