Ok quick, really dumb stupid question....what is a NDA, I'm assuming Non-disclosure Agreement..? And is that with the game company or with the website? I would think it would be with the game developers so wondering why a moderator is enforcing it for the forum?
Game looks pretty solid, this just came on my radar in the last month or so, so haven't looked at it to much. Haven't played any of the other TES games, mainly because to my knowledge they just regular RPG's and I get tired of solo games, I'm a multiplayer gamer through and through.
To me I think I will pick it up and give it a shot, looks like a lot of fun, although I agree the video seems to show rift 2.0. Seems way to similiar IMHO, although I am a bit biased cause I played rift for the first 2-3 months and absolutely hated it.
The only way I won't pick this up is if Archage comes out first and really grabs me, although they seem like 2 very different games so we will see. Would love to see more grouping videos but as I said, haven't done much research at all so I don't know whats out there. Grouping is what gets me investing years in games, so really looking for that myself.
Ok, I read the rules of conduct and found the answer to my dumb question.

Elder Scrolls Online comes out in April and there is no word on Archeage release so "there you go".
Yea they say in less then 6 months but who knows, this game is definitely my first gaming purchase of the new year if that all holds true. As long as I find the system requirements and make sure my PC can handle it of course, heh. Lots more research to go but as I said this definitely looks like one to pick up for me, even though I'm not a huge fan of the series.

I m a huge ES fan, but damn I hated TESO, the combat sucked, IMO.Are you sure you're a huge TES fan then? Because Morrowind's combat was utter crap, Oblivion's is pretty bad as well. Skyrim has very empty strikes as well. Only reason that Skyrim's combat felt alright was because of the sound assets. Something that was missing during their show of the game in Cologne.
I'm getting a bit tired of all the people claiming to be "Huge Elder Scrolls fans" and then proceeds to complain about some feature that's really weak in all Elder Scrolls games. Like the fellow complaining about fast travel.
pretty much this ^
reminds me of the people that claimed to be KOTOR fans complaining that SWTOR was too linear lol
Originally posted by Rockniss Dare I let myself actually become excited for this? I thisatisfieust do that, they have been open enough and at this point my expectations I think are realistic. They are not the same expectations I had when I first heard "ESO" but those expectations were impossible toaachieve. Time to dig in a little deeper to ESO.
That highlighted part right there is one of the main reasons we cannot have good things. People get brainwashed into accepting low quallity stuff.
People can offer free beer to forum users here and still people would be pissed. And we can't have "good things" because of free to play. Ever looked into why your never satisfied? It's because your expectations are out of this world.
That and people are habitual complainers.
Or more specifically, they are only happy when they're not. Like my ex-GF.

i am fine with the fast travel, but i hope at least they also include mounts ( horses etc ) for those who prefer to just explore, just like in any other TES games
other than that, i think the game looks solid, maybe not the best graphics around, but i think the game will keep me busy for a very long time at least!
Of course they have horses :-). It has been said they can level and be customized.
Originally posted by Pyatra So.... noticed some interesting things in the video.
They were 7 levels above the boss, so its probably harder than it looks (I'm fine with that)
To Resurrect a lvl 30 ally it requires a Common Soul Gem (I assume full)
Ebonheart secured an Elder Scoll at a keep..... whaaaaat!? We get to fight for keeps and Elder Scrolls in PVP!?
Atronauches are immune to bleed
there are butterflies (don't know if lootable like Skyrim)
Flying creatures cannot be snared
How do you know their levels?
They blanked out the dark anchor section, but forget to blank out a mouse over of his ally when they were fighting the first boss. :P
Hehe, indeed but this guy is level 30 or i am blind ;-) At 2:00 you can see some other guy who is probably party member and he's level 40. All anchor monsters are also level 40.
EDIT: So they only outleveled the first fight.
True... unless they got really tricky and super pumped the skill levels only.... oh devs, you rascals you.
It would have been more impressive if they had actually fought through it at anywhere near the appropriate level. As it is, people are going to look at that video and think that killing mobs will be just like in WoW where you simply need to roll your face across the keyboard to make things blow up.
Not for nothing, I mean I'm still gonna play it, but should I be concerned that the guys in the video already allude to the idea that the battle mage is the current FLOTM?
And should we just decide now to shun all bard-like behavior like this? Or should we embrace it?
All those complaining about fasttravel. It doesnt port u to a player. It ports you to the nearest discovered wayshrine, or instanced waypoint closest to that player.

But hey, people shouldn't let a little thing like logic get in the way of hating a game.

Game looks good though.
I can't go into specifics (NDA), but I will say that hybrids will most likely be VERY viable in this game. I'd say making a bard-like character is not out of the questiion ;p
Fast travel ( especially teleporting to players) = no buy
+1.
Besides that the game looks pretty decent. Too bad the world aspect is not there.
Yup, because no elder scroll game ever had fast travel... /sarcasmoff. I would not presume that there are teleporters everywhere. I would not presume that the costs associated with travel are trivial. I would not presume that there is no purpose behind mounts in the game. I would not presume that travel in the PVE aspect of the game is the same in Cyrodiil. There has been little to no publically released information that can provide the complete details about travel yet. That does not mean it is or is not how you are assuming it is. Take that for what you want.
Cheers!

If you don't like fast travel don't use it - pretty simple really. But I bet the next time you go to start a dungeon and your group members are everywhere, you'll be sure happy that feature exists.
Game looks great! Did you see the Elder Scroll capture message from activity elsewhere in the world? That indicates that this wasn't some special 4-person server just for the video, the server had others online playing, likely during a beta session of some type, and it was still very smooth and fast.

Then again ya gotta start some where right?

Just noticed the quick travel option and it is a massive mistake imho.
People are going to breeze through this game in 8 weeks and unsub, big mistake
You know you have to discover the wayshrine first before you can teleport to it with a fee. And the fees start getting pretty expensive.
Duh.... He fast travelled to a wayshrine he had been to before and that was likely a group mate who happened to be there waiting...
Haters gonna hate just for the shitz

Looks great! Though I have to wonder those being a 'fan' to the series had rose tinted glasses on when playing the previous games.
(I always played ranged so was not bothered my melee combat).

I will never understand people who wont play a game based on some minor feature such as fast travel. I mean, if you dont like it, then dont use it?!
Anyway, people can do as they like.
