lol that is just funny
i wonder how many accounts eve has
and how many wow has
i think the reason eve won is cause all the eve players are here and wow players are actually playing
"the big story is EVE Online who take all four awards they were nominated for..."
Just proves how weak a year it was for MMORPGs. Oh well, there's better on the way, I hope.
Dang! I got one category wrong Anyways, GRATS CCP! You deserve every bit of this success
Until you've played it, stop slagging Eve off and go back into your grubby little wizardy holes

EVE Rules... nuff said
Aren't you meant to be leveling up now?
Go play Warcraft and let the people who can actually play MMORPGs play Eve
Man...at least make some attempt to show a bit of grace when acknowledging you're favorite MMO wins.
It does surprise me that EVE won the Best Graphics category. I thought one of the newer MMOs would have won it. Maybe I'll go download vids of the other MMOs for comparison.
Kudos to Nevrax for winning the best story category.
The most anticipated category made me sad. I beta test Dungeons and Dragons Online on the closed server, and it's a weak, thin, horrible game that bears no resemblance to anything like a pen and paper experience. It's basically just a bunch of diablo-esque mission runs and this close to retail, that's all you can expect it to be. You might have fun with it until level 4.
It's very funny to look at the contrast between the DDO non-beta public boards which are full of the hope of many a basement dweller, mountain dew in hand, versus the closed beta boards which are full page top to page bottom of threads detailing how DDO is a massive let-down.
The fact DDO won most anticipated just shows how little people know about some of the games coming up. I would have gone with age of conan myself...
Don't get your hopes up for DDO.
Fortunately the votes for Eve were cast prior to the most recent content patch
Game has completely crapped out
Wow...I'm amazed by EVE. I've never really heard of the game...all you ever hear is World of Warcraft. You know what? Congrats to the producers at EVE. I'm glad they took the rewards over WoW. Right now I'm downloading EVE trial to try the game out...i wonder if it'll live up to it's name. Again...COngrats EVE online.
Total time played: 9125 Days, 21 Hours, 29 Minutes, 27 Seconds
Time played this level: 39 Days, 1 Hour, 24 Minutes, 5 Seconds
I think Eve's graphics speak for themselves.
Anyone interested would do well to look at the most recent video

It's the top one you want - EVE Never Fades XL.
The relatively slow pace set in space isn't to the majoritys taste, but it also provides incredible depth and longevity.
The thing Everyone must remember about eve is that it is an adults game. The average age is around 28, as compared to WoW where it is 17.
The nature of the game allows the community to be self-regulating. Horrible "l33t d3wds" quickly realise they dont have the intelligence, teamwork or planning skills to make it in the game and quit. Macro farmers are CONSTANTLY attacked by player groups (and because of the harsh death penalties, struggle). Exploiters are unknown; your ingame reputation is SO important that no long term player can risk it.
One thing I must mention; Since Eve's population has simply skyrocketed in the last year, CCP's already record breaking servers are under a lot of strain.
Within the next 5 weeks, CCP will have tripled server capacity with all new 64bit machines. Until that time please bear with the lag you sometimes get in the core systems at peak hours.
Once again, this is not a game for kids and those with a short attention span. There is a LOT of addrenaline pumping action (more than any other game, particularly because of the death penalties), a LOT of awesome PvP, but at the same time you need to ALSO deal with funding yourself and establishing infrastrucure.
Note to new players; the best piece of advice I can give you is to JOIN A BIG CORP EARLY ON.
In fact, once the new servers are up CCP will have achieved another first;
The Eve-Cluster will be the first game server to make it into the TOP 500 MOST POWERFUL SUPERCOMPUTERS in the world. How awesome is that.
Go EvE and CCP
And go Saga of Ryzom too!
If you can watch that video without feeling the urge to get involved, then you have no soul.
Amazing that you can call to task the attitude of the players that are happy that EVE won and are more than willing to defend it yet you totally fail to do the same to the first posters that try to rip on EVE because they couldn't get their game to win.
EVE won on it's merits: strong game mechanics; fluid, painful and SERIOUS PvP (not the "no loss" type found in most other MMORPGs); outstanding graphics (that btw, CCP are constantly upgrading ... FOR FREE!); top notch customer service; a truly player driven economy and environment; and an immersive game play that is second to none.
It's sad to see that people can't just be happy for the game (and company) that won. To try and write it off as "a weak year" is just bitterness. With WoW, EQ2, SWG out all at the same time just puts the lie to any such poorly masked attempts at spin control.
Kudos to Saga for winning its category!
See you all later this year in the next contest ... when EVE will win again!
Peace.
EVE: 100,000 accounts
WoW: 5,000,000 accounts
As for EVE players being here and WoW players not, nope. EVE's got 10,611 posts here while WoW has 53,316 posts. 50x more accounts and 5x more posts.
Way to go CCP, well deserved all around!
Well done to EVE not bad for a game so old.
As for the comments on this forum i have to say that this game is pretty good. The biggest problem the WOW fanboys will ahve with this game will no doubt be to do with its sometimes slow pace well its true this game is not for the 11 year old's who play WOW and the DOODZZZ you get infesting some other online games, But at least the people in eve are mature
If anyone wanted to try out eve i advise you remember 3 things
1. There is no instancing.
2. Join a Corp early on.
3. Its a game that does take time to get good at.
As for me i have been playing since it went retail and ive never got tired of the PvP, i did try everquest 2 and WoW but found those games pretty boring and repetative, not to say the games didant look good [with the exeption of wow] Its just that i prefer eve's PvP to consential combat.
hmm....
i tried the Eve Trial and got bored after 2 days.
so i dont get how it owned 4 awardes.
the best company and maybe the PVP awdes was right but the others i dunno how its got them.
now i must try rysom, i never know what so special about it, so its at least worth a try.
Wolfang, the lvl 50 Guardian of Splitpaw - EQ2.
SuRfer of Werner - Planetside
We should reallly thank all the Eve-Online players with their multiple accounts. For ruining yet another thing on MMORPG.com. Game Ratings, then hopping in threads to post advertisments for Eve-Online. Another fun event ruined by a bunch of people that treat their game like a religious cult.
Just disappointing to say the least. After always hearing them preach about how mature their community is. Anyone that thinks those results are accurate. All I will say is 'tsk tsk'.
In War - Victory.
In Peace - Vigilance.
In Death - Sacrifice.
Word!
DDO Sucks so bad it makes me wanna cringe when the actually release that POS. Swing and a miss!
Bitter much? Offer up some proof, or quit whining.
Heh, even with multiple accounts Eve Online does not have near the actually subscription numbers of WoW or SOE. So for that community to come out here and vote when they were hugely out-numbered speaks volumes to me. I would venture to say you could ask MMORPG how many unique logins were created for the sole purpose of voting.
Probably a lot of them were for Eve, that just means that like the get out an vote grass roots movement on our forums worked. Every community has its vocal portion and Eve is not lacking there. We are fiercely loyal to CCP for their ability to at least be visible to the community and speak to them daily.
I have been playing the game since it launched and will continue to play and dabble in the other games on the market. To me, Eve won on its own merit.
Congrats to CCP!

It's called simple math. Heard of it?
