As far as quality assurance you don't have to take my word for it, it's in the credits in the back of the book.

My point about bugs is the producer says, This content will go out on Tuesday, and the programmers have to make it go out on Tuesday regardless if the content has bugs or not. The producer dictates when something is to go live.

Something else people seem to be forgetting is that 70 Devs, INCLUDE LucasArts employees.

Of course we ALL know that creating a deadline = bad product.

well after reading only about half of this thread so far i think that LA does own the code and they are really the ones in charge...

if anyone has played their new demo for Empire at War (new RTS game) then you will clearly see that they took MANY elements from SWGs space fighting and put it into this game...

anyone who has played it will know what im talking about anyways just my opinions...

image Bah...  If LA is depending on surveys then you can bet on 1 thing for sure. Too many Jedi noobs running around ruining it for people with a bit more imagination.

• annxiiannxii Member Posts: 24

well if Lucas Arts takes charge of SWG I do believe they'll bring it back to at least pre-cu, perhaps even before remake of the jedi-system as that was the first screw up done to SWG! if they don't bring it back to at least pre-cu it's just clearly that Lucas Arts has no idea what the starwars-feeling is and should be stripped from their name::::12::

Thanks for providing the full E-mail with links. That survey is quite interesting, I didn’t get all the way through it so can anyone tell me if it ever asks about the NGE or if it’s all about ToOW/expansions? If it doesn’t, then I’m not exactly sure how this rumor fits with LA dropping SOE’s license (that is to say, I don't think LA is dropping SOE at all).

I have also been reading on the forums that not everyone has received this survey, and it is unclear who they are targeting (canceled or present players but certainly not all).

As far as rumors go, I have two I’ll give to add fuel for the fire: The first is about the next expansion: apparently, a French SW magazine mentions the next SWG expansion coming from LA.
http://www.sithclan.net/SC4/accueil/index.php?template=black_html&id=9072

A rough translation reads:
“The Lucasfilm Magazine numero 58 (in contrast to itself that indicates the code blocks on this picture) of March April, will propose between other the following items:
GENERAL GRIEVOUS: Discover the history of the creature that hides itself derriere the armor.
THE MANDALORIENS: Discover the culture of which is originating from Jango Fett
THE ENCOUNTER: Discussion with the celebre designer Philippe Druillet
"THE POSTERS OF THE episode VI" : Last party of our file on the posts Star Wars.
A NEW ORDER: what change celà to look at the six films in the good order?
STAR WARS GALAXIES: Discover the new extension of the game LucasArts.
The magazine will be available in current kiosk March. To subscribe you direction: Courleciel.com
While awaiting the numero 57 currently available east in the kiosks. “
So, apparently, the next expansion will be a GENERAL GREVIOUS one, lol. The original thread on this can be found at the official boards here (not sure if it will last though, so be quick): http://forums.station.sony.com/swg/board/message?board.id=swggpdiscussion&message.id=394326&view=by_date_ascending&page=1

The second rumor I caught on the SWG boards before it was deleted within 60 seconds of posting, so I don’t think anyone ever saw it but me. I never saw the rumor appear anywhere else so here it is: Rumor has it that NC SOFT might be taking over the SWG license.

The cause for this speculation is the sudden job employment listings on NC SOFT’s official website, which can be found here: http://www.plaync.com/jobs/jobs.html

Notice how they are trying to hire 16 people for a job in Austin, TX. That’s quite a team huh? Coincidence? Impossible to tell at this point.

Translates as:

Lucasfilm Magazin 58 (contrary to the issue number shown on the barcode in the image) for march/April, has among other articles:

General Grevious: discover the history of the creature who hides behind the armour.

The Mandalorians: Discover the culture that gave birth to Jango Fett.

The Encounter: Discussion with the famous designer Philippe Druillet

The Posters of EpIV: Last part of our file (collection?) on the Star Wars posters.

A New Order: What changes when you watch the films in the correct order.

Star Wars Galaxies: Discover the new extension for Lucas Arts' game.

The magazine will be in kiosks in March, etc.

So, it's not an expansion about Grevious, he's just another featured article in the magazine. Given the mag is in print and will be distributed in March, the articles could have been written last year (not THAT uncommon in print meeja) so they COULD be talking about the NGE or ToOW.

here is the only thing for me -

Will CH be reverted back to the days before it was CU'd (balanced), a year ahead of everyone else.

That is the only way I would come back.

I think the problems started in SWG before PUB 9

It started when they balanced pets.  It effected pets accross the board, on every planet.  After that - the game became too easy and lost it's challenge and a lot of it's exciting content (adventure planets).

Go back to November 2003 - oh well i guess we will see

Rumors these may be, but to all off us who are still reeling after we had our throats cut in Nov of 2005 I say they keep many of us going.

Here's the link to a site that has a development team working on reverse engineering SWG Pre-CU code to run a private server...I am all over that like a fatboy on a cupcakeimage

Well let me add more to this.  Today when I was on the SWG Forums I read a message by someone who refused to name their source but said that the reason the survey came out was because they are indeed going to make a Pre-CU server.  He said it was confirmed to him by a CSR whom he refused to name.  I am not sure which one of these is true but I hope at least one of them is.  The guy did say that there would be criteria for character transfer to this server. You would have to have a character made Pre-CU but again I do not know how true this is or if it is even true at all.  I am just putting it out there hoping that it is and letting you all know it might have something to do with thins current rumor.

Hmm - I truly hope they succeed, but am not too confident of success.

LA and SOE will have a field day. They may not be able to touch the server, but teh intellectual rights and image rights to SW belong solely to LA. Using them without permission is pretty much an act of suicide for that project. I'm no lawyer, but I don't think LA will let them run a Pre-CU copy of SWG.

Its a great idea, and with the right type of funding and some changes to the game (losing all SW content i.e jedi, renaming planets and cities, removing iconic POI's like Jabbas Palace) I am sure it would draw many people in.

I'll be sure to keep an eye on this with great interest, thanks for the heads up OssirisWard.

Let's keep our eyes and ears open folks...and share what you find here....after it happens it will be interesting to go back to this thread and see how right(or wrong) we were.....

• OssirisWardOssirisWard Member Posts: 74

I agree, I am skeptical also...yet hopeful. But this is not the first time a game has been privately run, am I correct?(ie games like Lineage 2 etc..)

From what I understand SW things can be used as long as it is not for financial gain(which is why this will be a free server...donations accpeted of course)...we shall see....

Well I would have to say this is all pretty exciting, I loved how SWG used to be, but I wouldnt hold my breath. Though if we are lucky, all this rumor, and specilation could be true and who knows, maybe for once in our lives SWG wont be continually messed up in every horrible way..... Though doubt it. I'll be watching the thread closely. ::::23::

Apparently those claiming to put the truth in the survey has actually lied. At least I think it is really possible. The survey will not let you continue if you make certain choices. It stopped me after I put the MMO's I owned and would not let me continue, because of the games I owned.

I put DAoC, SWG and all the expansions except ToOW, COH, and WoW.

That's in no way surprising because many surveys end if certain responses are given to certain questions.  It's not a matter of lieing it's a matter of controlling the sample.

Until you cancel your subscription, you are only helping to continue the cycle of mediocrity.

• bareshdracobareshdraco Member Posts: 54

and because the first 2/3 of the survey is all about ToW. If you don't own it, it makes it difficult to continue with the survey. Although, I didn't come across any questions asking about my preferred incarnation of SWG, just my thoughts on the new combat system, and when I said I had left, the reasons why included because of the new combat system.

Got survey completed it, i am a female over 40 gamer

I tried to be honest about what i hated about nge

what i liked about cu ( grouping) bh missions bh loot still being albe to be a smuggler

what i loved about pre cu, slicing making spice , bh missions hunting the jedi .........pets

my main focus was appreciating the multi skill,   set which was lost in nge

and the fact i could be a crafter and a combat toon and if bored i could change  what i was doing at a drop of a hat

I strongly wrote the main thing i hated about nge was Lack of choices lack of diversity, and if bored with profession no choices, and greatly missing many of the old animations

so no i didn't fit demographics but i was albe to take survey and finish it , after thinking about what's out there currently if the game reverted back i most likely would play again i love ch smuggler doc tk bh and i miss those  things that went along with that greatly ............

SWG was the best mmo I ever played. It had everything a mmo should. Even though parts of the game were broken and needed to be fixed it still was the best thing out there by far. You couldnt go into one of the popular starports without getting hit with multiple spams about what people had for sale. Everywhere you went there were tons of people either grinding out professions or whatever they wanted to do. I was a pre-9 jedi who spent countless hours grinding 30 professions to unlock.
When the so-called "combat upgrade" came out I knew the game was headed for a downward spiral. You could see the game slowly dieing. When SOE/LA suprisingly hit us with the so-called NGE it was the final nail in the coufin of the best mmo ever designed.
This morning I was on Dantooine at the mining op and looked around and saw no one. I decided to do a search for anyone and there was no one else on the planet (or even close to the op, not sure how far the search goes). The game is dead. I look around and see no one with the exception of an occational person flying on or off a planet.
Im not sure what lies ahead for swg but one thing is for certain. The NGE and maybe even the CU will not last. They will have to do something quick to get the game out of it current state and back to making a possitive cash flow. I for one would like to see the pre cu game back into play with fixes and nerfs to those professions that need it.

Exactly.... This is the game I want back soo bad.... Most people do not even know because they came back to the game to late... The game is amazing.. I have to say it... It was the best time I have ever had with ANY video game bar none.. ME and my friends can all certainly verify that. If they could pull this off and get people to join back up and rewind it to BEFORE CU... Holy crap.... Thats a dream of mine.. And as for SWG if they make that ::::28:: Im buying it.
