Pointless as ESO has more players and a developer who is not shy about letting all players know about this contest via a splash message on the login screen.
If Blizzard did the same on their launcher though.....
But they don't care about these meaningless contests because they don't need the publicity.
Smaller devs like ZoS and Funcom do however - otherwise they wouldn't bother either.
It would be great to see this broken down in two ways:
A poll including all votes (which will be ESO and TSW wins - the two companies that let their players know about the contest)
And a poll excluding ALL votes from new accounts - I'd love to see that
Gratz, you've created a poll that will help you feel better. Honestly this bullshit about "My vote for Lord of the rings is a vote against eso, hurr durr, I'm saltly because my MMO lost a 'pointless' contest, a 'pointless' contest that I care deeply enough to voice my concern about and vote against it." Derp...
Maybe this contest isn't so pointless.
I've always been a fan of The Elder Scrolls and I've always wanted an ESO mmo. I love the combat, questing, crafting system and even the PvP is awesome. That feeling you get when you turn into a werewolf and dominate the field for a few seconds.
That Epic feeling completing a questline with characters you've come to care about. Seeing Windhelm for the first time and all the people inside. To see haters like TalulaRose, Krighton attempt to ruin that is worse than 10$ horse armor. But it's a contest, so you can vote as you like, and there is a comment selection and I get tell you that ESO is a great game.
Also, I came here to vote from Reddit, not the login screen.
The Zenimax devs have put much effort, many time into their game. As a last point, shouldn't that tell you how much they care about their game if they're willing to let their playerbase know about a poll? (Nevermind the updates, and talk about updates in the future, they also listen to their playerbase. Guess what? They are going to continue working on their game. And that's why, ESO deserves the vote.)
You have to forgive Kano. He was the guy who posted during the first round that this poll was pointless because everyone knew WOW would win it... and when WOW went down, he said the same about EVE. Just humor him and let him enjoy his sour grapes

I know MMORPG likes the new accounts the ESO fans are creating to stuff the vote. More advert $$ for them.

This is correct.
"Well, we've added 2000 members in the last month and our web counter is up 10%. This year every advertiser has to renegotiate their contract, paying 10% more."
This place is a business, not the end-all, be-all of the very heart of mmo gaming.
I have played a lot of Lord of the Rings Online but I feel that the game has gone to places that disinterest me. I'm currently playing ESO, love a lot of things better than Lord of the Rings but I haven't nearly played the years (obviously) that I've played Lord of the Rings.
In any case, voted lord of the rings because of the time I spent there.
Voted The secret world over EVE even though EVE is a great game. The secret world speaks to me more.
Like Skyrim? Need more content? Try my Skyrim mod "Godfred's Tomb."
What happened to the (mostly) respectful TSW community I remember from the semi-finals? I actually cast my vote for TSW(among many other ESO fans) based on the community that showed up for the last round of voting, the community I'm seeing today is making me regret that decision.
Even if ESO doesn't win the finals it's been a great rebound from the bad press the game got at launch, now it's getting the positive exposure it so well deserves. Good luck to all of the remaining competitors

Hi guildee, that's not TSW that's talking, it's left over gamers from previous rounds.
Lol - you were the only one to realize the subliminal message in my wow win post - it was a total bait. I haven't played wow since 2004, why would I want it to win??
I just want you to know I have bragging rights because I predicted TSW in round one - I came closer than you

Do you have a screen shot of that accusation? I log in to ESO every day and I never saw anything like that. The only thing I've seen from the staff is a forum moderator on one thread pop in to say great job.
Yeah, i never saw that. ESO haiters Photoshop?
If somebody, except screen author proves this, then i will believe.
It's true, that happened on the last day of the ESO vs TSW faceoff, where it was close to 50-50. Both games did that, first ESO then TSW.

Why would Zenimax do this? Their faithful elder scrolls series following will only learn here there are better games like Scarlet Blade and Maplestory.

I didn't take the screenshot, it was from the semi-final round thread. Proof enough for you?
I'm an ESO fan... I play ESO and I personally also saw that screen last Friday afternoon during the last hours of voting. Then TSW, who had a forum mod participating in their thread about voting since round one, added a similar message to their log-on screen.
So, yes, it did happen. Now everyone yawn and move on.

What do these accounts have in common? All created recently and all voting for ESO........ESO fans seem desperate.

And they all only have posts in this thread.
All you need are multiple e-mail addresses which are very easy to get these days. It's possible they could all be the same person. Must really love the game if that's the case.

No. I saw it on the log-on screen exactly as the picture posted above.
Any way you shake it, this has been very good PR for these games. And both ESO and TSW still seem to want publicity... LOTRO and EVE don't care enough for the companies to get involved promoting votes.

All the best of luck to everyone in the final-"FINAL" 4!

We have seen an influx of new players in TSW, but Steam/Origin/anyplace sales probably have to do with it as well.
When you leave the polls open to the public, it's a popularity contest.
I personally think ESO should win because it's a lot more polished now than it was at launch. Many of the problems it had at launch are gone. It's an amazing MMO right now imo.
But ESO will win anyways because most people who play LOTRO are very casual or RPers who don't care at all about these things.
Comments
ESO is doing pretty well these days. I'm glad to see them rebounding a bit. I appreciate Lotro as well, I was just never able to get into it.
I would love to see a new Lotro title. Heck, same with Star Trek! Rip that crappy game down and build me a new one! ENGAGE.

omg, must to choose by two main favorites games
EVE is best mmo on market & there is not game in next decade what can replace EVE
TSW has some magic ... and I vote for ... ... TSW !
good luck to LOTR ,for sure it is better mmo than ESO
ESO>LOTRO soooooo hard.
I voted for TSW aswell.

I would agree that EVE is a superior game but I still voted for The Secret World.
It's more to my taste even though it doesn't truly encapsulate what I would want from an mmo.
