So, yes, it did happen. Now everyone yawn and move on.

pre-game Patcher thingy, not log-in screen. Forum mod has no acces to that.

While we are at it; I never saw the message.

No. I saw it on the log-on screen exactly as the picture posted above.

Any way you shake it, this has been very good PR for these games. And both ESO and TSW still seem to want publicity... LOTRO and EVE don't care enough for the companys to get involved promoting votes.

I was talking about TSW, and it was a Community Manager btw. Details etc.

We have seen an influx of new players in TSW, but Steam/Origin/anyplace sales probably have to do with it as well.

    Ah, OK I misunderstood.

The ESO starter zones are also busier than they have been for a while lately but it'd be hard to say how much of that was just Christmas (most I would think) and how much from extra PR.

But in the ESO subforum for this site, I have noticed several people--some of whom admitted having hated ESO with a passion when it released--post new player questions about the game. This could also be due to the fact the game has fixed many of its launch problems and added a few enhancements...hard to say why they're picking it up now.

These comments are almost as good as the current fight ZOS has caused on its own forums by slapping the most dedicated players in the face.....only here doesnt seem as heavily mod'ed....fight! fight!

Obviously I voted for TSW and then for Lotro (I have lifetime accounts for both).  I love the huge world of lotro, I admit it is now just chaining new zones along to get to Morder buuuuut I have a soft spot for it.

Also for ESO I am a bit burnt from the start, I played it and didn't like it, it may have changed now bu tI am unwilling to pay for a months sub to see.  *Cough* Welcome back weekend please?

    Useless thought of the day:

If my civic duty is to vote in elections, is it my gamer duty to vote in this poll?

Agree with the all the new accounts with ESO.  I made this point may times.  I found very similar patterns and its sad people go to this extreme.  Excluding new accounts would have helped get a better picture. This reminds of Pirate 101 and Kingsisle's push for its game a few years back.   In the end though does it really matter?

I have come to MMORPG many hundreds of times over the years. I've never felt the desire to register until now. I just wanted to show support for my favorite MMO. Especially considering all the unfounded (imo) hate this game recieved at launch mainly due to an unrealistic expectation. It's not perfect. It has it's flaws. But it fits my taste. It's the first MMO i've played since leaving WoW 3 years ago that feels like home.

If MMORPG wanted only the opinion of currently registered voters, they could have locked registration. But we all know that wasn't the objective. Quite the opposite in fact.

People are just going to have to accept the fact that ESO has a larger and more active community than the haters want to admit.

Yeah, i never saw that. ESO haiters Photoshop?

If somebody, except screen author proves this, then i will believe.

I can confirm. I saw it too. It was during last voting. Didn't make a screenshot, but I don't see anything wrong about it. Voted for ESO and EVE. Over & out.

Although it's not really a fair one, since I never played LOTRO. (but I like ESO well enough to give it my vote)

And TSW is a no brainer for me.

If Blizzard did the same on their launcher though.....

But they don't care about these meaningless contests because they don't need the publicity.

Smaller devs like ZoS and Funcom do however - otherwise they wouldn't bother either.

It would be great to see this broken down in two ways:

A poll including all votes (which will be ESO and TSW wins - the two companies that let their players know about the contest)

And a poll excluding ALL votes from new accounts - I'd love to see that

Ohhh, someone sounds cranky that their favorites are out of the competition, or not winning. :P

Strange how nobody gave a damn about TSW for the last year.   Its an okish MMO, great writing, reasonable graphics but everything else is average to drab.  If it was amazing then everyone would be playing it - its free to play.

    I'm back!!!

I am here to ensure the games that I want to win, do in fact win.  I'm pretty sure my ESO guildies and me took down Secret World with our sheer amount of votes, especially looking at the closeness of the vote.  Time to make our presence felt again.  BTW you don't think all these new accounts on here on an accident or without purpose do you??????????????

  • magnusnetmagnusnet Member Posts: 1
ESO doesn't deserve to win. Totally biased voting. I can't believe that a game that has bled subs, that has less than 200k players, that sucked so hard that it's rebooting on january can beat LOTRO. People voting for ESO prolly haven't played the game :-/

It's B2P actually. So it still requires some investment. Not to mention tons of people don't even know the game exists, it's not like Funcom has a huge advertising budget. And on top of that it's pretty much a niche game theme-wise.

ah true, these days i think of free to play as no sub, since we can buy these games for pennies on Steam etc.  The game has been out long enough that most MMO fans are aware of it.

Yeah, I know what you mean. But it still stops plenty of people. Just look at all the "Should I buy TSW/GW2/etc.." threads that pop up frequently. Small as the investment is, it's still enough to keep a lot of people from just jumping in. (Especially when they are looking for a new MMO to play immediately and there's no sales going on at the time)

In case you haven't noticed... TSW has been the #1 rated game on this site for over 2 years. Also most player reviews from all kinds of sources are positive, which isn't something you can say about other MMOs.

And no, it is not free to play. It's BUY to play.

There isn't now. There was when that screenshot was taken last week...
