The Crowfall site has a trio of goodies for fans today. The first comes in the form of the first revealed spell caster called the Confessor. The Confessor's page has a small, but interesting, back story as well as both male and female screenshots.
The second treat is a rather large lore article that gives the first information about the origins of the known Universe, and a look at Valkyn's children. Called "War of the Gods Part 1, it can be read here.
Lastly, potential players get the first information about the pricing model that Crowfall will utilize in a new FAQ. Crowfall will be a "buy once, play forever" game. According to estimations, the price will hover around the $50 mark but optional VIP membership will be offered for $15 a month. Benefits of VIP include:
“Behind the scenes” access to the development of the game
VIP members can use passive training for all 3 character slots (not just 1)
Priority access to all game servers
VIP frame / badge on the forums
Discount pricing on any purchases
Other cool (non-balance affecting) benefits as we think of them!
Additionally, players can trade goods and services to other players and attain VIP status. At this time, the pricing model is for North America only until such time as international publication rights are purchased.
Read the entire FAQ on the Crowfall site.

It looks like it's basically the exact same as ESO's
Hopefully we'll see more MMOs adopt the B2P with optional sub model!
Because B2P is just F2P with an upfront cost, this is in improvement exactly how?
F2P games frequently have a subscription option so that isn't the benefit?
The only difference between this and the traditional sub only game is the sub is optional. Almost all titles have a cash shop. so is there really much of a difference in the payment model?
Edit: NM, I keep forgetting, some folks enjoy "dropping" in to play MMO's for the short term, I never consider that possibility as I would automatically sub for any game I chose to return to. I just don't think like most of you.

Personally the only modern MMORPG trend that annoys me is the idea that MMOs need to be designed in a way to attract people who don't actually like MMOs. Which to me makes about as much sense as someone trying to figure out a way to get vegetarians to eat at their steakhouse.- FARGIN_WAR

B2P makes sense for this title. A light cash shop will be enough to maintaining a game mostly focused on PvP, and it keeps the content around as well.

PvP-centric games often allow for only one character per account. Three characters is more than enough. Goodbye, and good riddance.
2. Can I spend real world currency buy in items or currency?
No. The only things that you can buy from ArtCraft:
- VIP membership tickets
- Cosmetic items that do not affect gameplay
- Account level services (such as increasing your number of character slots, or the size and population caps of your personal kingdom).
That was taken from the faq,
Seems to me like this will be a welcome business model in my eyes.
So being less ripped off is good? Pvp-centric game has nothing to do with it. It's still an mmo. You buy a game, you get access to all its content. Three character slots doesn't allow that. But yeah, good riddance. I hope you enjoy the game. Not being sarcastic. It's just not for me.

Can they deliver, I'm asking myself the same question. We will see. So far everything is good, but at the same time we don't know much at all.
