And erillion, you know this will all include you to by the time everything is said and done. Your redirection and attempt at obfuscation is downright hilarious at this point.
YOU are so transparent its not even funny anymore.
Everyone knows your bias and most suspect (but havnt seen proof) your financial ties.
We're going to out you too- Time and place of our choosing.
Remember who controls the timeline now sweetie. You guys better get ready for the FUN thats coming ...Soon...
Have Fun!!!!!!!!!!!!
Dude, that is some creepy shit you posted there. I'd ask what your motivations are, but I actually don't think I want to know.
In this case my motivation is to let 'mr. have fun!!!!!' know (again) that many know hes not some mere 'fan' posting about a game he likes but rather is making some serious shillings doing what hes been doing.
So what about Mr jcrg99? will you expose him too? I have actually seen Erillion post like a regular human being in a couple threads that have zero to do with SC.
Posted this for clarification in other SC threads, but here it is again:
I am a backer of Star Citizen. I like that project and space sims in general.
Whenever possible i post verifyable information (dare i say the word ? ...facts...).
Or my personal opinion .. marked as such.
I
have one ship - a Constellation. Never had more than that one ship. I
do not (and never did) trade SC ships for money or other ships.
I
am a subscriber and have therefore access to the "Den" forum and "Jump
Point" magazine. Being a backer I have access to the official forums.
I
am not working in the gaming industry. I am not employed by CIG or any
of its contractors. And never was. I am not a computer gaming
journalist, vblogger or streamer. I am not being paid for anything i
write here at mmorpg.com ... not with money, nor with goods (like in
game ships). By anyone.
When someone posts claims and calls them "truth", I ask for proof and/or links to verify.
Any
"truth" without proof is just a rumour or an (usually unmarked)
personal opinion. And is being called a rumour by me or others.
ROFL, this is funny as hell, what you expect these people to write on CGI forums? Sure the hell not going to write anything bad about the company, they know they would be shown the door right away. Once a company starts pulling stuff like this you know they are in big time damage control. These responses tell us how bad the company is doing more than the article that was written by The Escapist.
I can't believe they would actually have someone write stuff like this. It shows CR has no clue what to do and is running scared by having these people write these. If he had nothing to hide he would just say, look the game will talk for us, and we will be having backers download it very soon to put this all to rest.
So Robert, when are you going to release a working alpha to your supporters to prove that you ARE actually using their funded monies, to support Star Citizen project. Which you continue to argue that you are in fact not laundering the millions of dollars to line your own pocket, but however continue to fail to produce anything that resembles a working model for the backers to play and test and give their direct support, so where is it?
So what about Mr jcrg99? will you expose him too? I have actually seen Erillion post like a regular human being in a couple threads that have zero to do with SC.
Jcrg99 on the other hand... Not so much
So have I. You can actually google the Erillion handle and see his ancient posts about SWG:
Other than his support for SC, all I can tell about him from his posts is that he's likely an old fart like me and that unlike Cindy Lauper, he wants us all to have fun... not just the girls

Yep, with a healthy dose of EVE Online over the last decade ... plus some SWTOR, Elite:Dangerous and Lord of the Rings etc.
And some general remarks whenever a random post in the acitivity list catches my eye.

Big Time Damage Control The CR Way!
I understand the need for damage control after the Escapist article. Chris Roberts tried not involving himself in the mess for months and that didn't work so now they've decided to instead actively present their side of things. There's nothing suspicious about that and it's not an indicator of guilt. If somebody punches you in the face and you decide to punch back does that mean you deserved to be punched in the first place? Think about it rationally. Defending one's self, telling your side of things, is a perfectly logical response to what's happened.
Sorry you are wrong, if the company has nothing to hide and is on the up and up he would do two things.
1. Not keep attacking DS, just no need to get in the dirt if he has nothing to hide.
2. Release an alpha build of the game to show exactly what they have made over the years.
What he has released is clearly not a game and as of now has nothing to show for the millions he has wasted.
After years in management I am certain some of the people I had to fire would swear I was a demon. Nothing they ever did was grounds for termination. It was always everyone else, me, the phase of the moon, etc.
The people who worked hard, understood what being part of a team meant, etc have little to no bad to say.
I expect this probably applies to most companies work forces.
You must have missed it but not all were fired, some used their feet and walked. Doesn't that give them any credibility?
You make some decent arguments. Only problem is that after seeing what you posted on Dsmart's profile page. It's obvious how bias you are and no one should take anything you say without a huge grain of salt.

A toast to Erillion
Lay off the Cindi Lauper, I hear too much of her is bad for your health.
Because there is no just cause for him to share his personal business with anyone. There is no requirement, and there should not be, that a private business or person have to justify or make their private dealings transparent. Why should they? Someone should have to prove a need for that first.
Eh, I would submit that playing with millions of dollars of people's money, given to you in good faith, is warrant enough for transparency.
But this is where we are with crowdfunding, such a double-edged sword. And if CR is really worried about the damage such claims could do to the project and company.. Isn't that need enough for him to provide just enough transparency to prove the claims false?
So where do we draw the line? How much money is too much? Who gets to decide what projects are investigated and what they have to make public to their competition? Who gets to sit in judgement? Who is paying for that oversight?
Why are large money crowd funded projects more subject to arbitrary scrutiny than established businesses? We have game companies like Blizzard raking in billions gouging customers for hundreds of dollars in annual rental fees and returning very little. Is that any less predatory? Why aren't they subject to scrutiny and regulation for fair business practices?
Why are non-crowd funded private business that have big money private investors given the edge over crowd funded projects that are expected to make their entire business strategy public. Doesn't it seem reasonable that competitors, Derek Smart among them, wouldn't like to know how and what that competition is doing?
Saying they should be transparent because a lot of money is involved sounds very reasonable and fair at first, but there are a lot of questions because it's complicated. No one wants to deal with the complex so we go for the simple answers - they should be transparent.
I think that's where personal ethics comes in. I own a business and I have a company gas card, I buy gas for personal use. I fill up my Harley and go on road trips, I use it to fill up my ATV's and SxS's By the books I'm cheating the taxman. I have no problem with it, it's my private company, I made the money myself, it's a little tax free benefit.
Now if my company was funded by crowdfunding I definitely would have a problem doing the same thing. I'd be spending other people's money for personal use.
There is a difference and there are new lines that have to be drawn when it comes to crowdfunding.
I get what you are saying and I agree. BTW, do you have any opennings in your company?

Yeah God forbid to feel sorry for a guy getting short end of the stick and CR who looks like he has been burning cash and is hailed as some savior. See people like you just don't get it and would never be happy till DS is put down like some rapid dog. It really is sad how you people are and refuse to see the facts. ONLY CR HAS THE FACTS, ROFL yeah right!

I have no axe to grind either way in this furore, but I was struck by the tone in Roberts' response.
So I implore you to think twice about going for something that while it may be fun to see Rome burn…isn’t in the best interests of the game, the employees of CIG or the 987,217 members of our community. You may say that if it isn’t true what is the harm but we both know in today’s world that’s not how it works, the truth will be lost behind the click bait headlines and the damage will be done.
To me that sounds a last desperate attempt to regain the higher ground by appealing to everyone's best instincts. I might be wrong, but I sense from this that the financial situation may not be very rosy. You can discard all the working practice allegations as disgruntled employee grumbling, but until some clear statement of the project's financial situation is put out there, the allegations are not going away. I notice that even the employee on Reddit did little to address those (probably because he doesn't have any more idea than we do).
People have suggested that the project could be bought out to save it, but whoever did so would probably have to invest as much money again as has already been spent, and if that is over $80 million, who would want to take that risk?
ROFL, this is funny as hell, what you expect these people to write on CGI forums? Sure the hell not going to write anything bad about the company, they know they would be shown the door right away. Yes, I know it was a bit on the emotional side and not, in my opinion, the best way to respond, but I understand where he's coming from. He's probably sick of dealing with this shit, got pissed off, and let his anger get the better of him. And yeah it's easy for people to say "well, why not release the financial records and put this to rest?" like it would all just go away if he did that. It wouldn't. He'd be dealing with a new set of problems. I feel for the guy. He's surrounded on all sides by a wall of shit and doesn't really have any way out of it until the game is finished, assuming that eventually happens.
I don't mean to be-little the stress level. But a CEO is responsible in how they respond to it. What do you think would have happened if he had had a board and he had sent that 1st letter. Till then the article was just white noise. He DROVE people there in droves. Most of E's comments on articles is in the 10's that one is in the 1000's, god alone knows the views. Not to mention just walked right into several of the allegations it was intended(I assume) to discount, And then with the GC topping it off with the over the top C&D. Professionalism isn't just something thats applicable only when things are going well.
The Escapist article is a joke, Roberts is in no way afraid of it. The Escapist did shoddy fact-checking and released a malicious article. If Roberts lawyers are worth their salt, they will tie Derek Smart to the article as a "reliable source", and he will be in deep shit too.
The only positive to come from this is that all the haters will finally shut the fuck up, because Roberts will finally release all the info they (the haters) have been begging for since the beginning. He will need to in order to prove that the Escapists allegations were entirely unfounded.
It's too bad that someone as damaged as Derek Smart can have this sort of negative impact on a decent attempt to produce a real game, as opposed to the crap that Smart has managed to produce over his laughable career.
Problem is Roberts you are a flat out two faced liar who has lied to us 3 times now. Those of us that supported the first kickstarter will NEVER see the game you told us we were funding. You stole our money and decided to use it for your own agenda without so much as a by your fucking leave...
People like you make me laugh, he stole from you?? No sir you gave him money.. Example.. When I give money to someone, should I ask for it back?? The key word give, donate... People who give to Kick Starter make me laugh, you act like they owe you there life or something... Stop giving to KS.... sick of you whiners who expect the world from developers when you give money.. You even act this way when a game is free... I said this before I will say it again, when devs say piss off we aren't making anymore MMO's you will be stuck with nothing, we are already seeing this, I said this 3 years ago...
So its people like you that ruin the industry... Not Chris/.
PS: I work in this industry as a game developer . gamer who turned developer, I see there side now, been in large and small companies, alot of devs can be baby's when you say there work is not complete and if they need to work more hours, they whine like little girls, alot of them do not want to work..
I know what its like, not saying all these companies do not have there own issues, but I can tell you from experience what I have seen from some game developers..
You know why there is a shortage of programmers?? They are even bigger whiners , not all but a fair amount..
ROFL, this is funny as hell, what you expect these people to write on CGI forums? Sure the hell not going to write anything bad about the company, they know they would be shown the door right away. You may think that this is Roberts under stress, behaving aberrantly. I think it's Roberts under stress showing his true character.
One person who worked closely with him told me Roberts was an narcissistic egomaniac. Probably why he and Derek Smart (also one, I'd bet) don't get along. Not enough space in any room for both their heads.....
If you are holding out for the perfect game, the only game you play will be the waiting one.
The Escapist article is a joke, Roberts is in no way afraid of it. The Escapist did shoddy fact-checking and released a malicious article. If Roberts lawyers are worth their salt, they will tie Derek Smart to the article as a "reliable source", and he will be in deep shit too.

Should be fun to watch though.
T
Really have to laugh at this, DS may have had games released that weren't that good, but it has been over 12 years that CR has released or made a game. The way this is all coming down CR is going down in history as getting the most ever on crowdfunding and the only one that blew over 90m and not releasing a game. I think that will trump DS for his down falls.
Tis my personal belief that anyone who publishes information about the ironically named "Derek Smart" is not a serious journalist, and were aliens to abduct him an accidentally return him to earth inside the pool of a sewage plant, you might even convince a hardened militant atheist like me to consider the possibility of the divine, a man who's made exactly no games anyone wants to play and gets headlines for trolling hard daily, bouyed up by more trolls and believed in by people who reached the limit of their incompetence in kindergarten, hardly a figure to be taken seriously outside of comedic relief.
The fact I occasionally hear his name from MMORPG news articles is hardly raising the faith of the majority in the journalistic integrity of your site, in the same vein that the sunday times newspaper is unlikely to turn over the front page to a skat enthusiasts special report with pictures on their activities as it would prove seriously damaging to their reputation, any news organisation that seriously reports on this individual is seriously damaging their reputation, frankly the skat enthusiasts article may well prove the less damaging option then reporting on Derek, as least the subject matter is underlying solid, as appose to derek who merely resembles the aforementioned solid at a glance.
Maybe if there was some work done on the game that at least reflects the $250 I spent on it as well as others, for a ship that cant even fly, then people would not point fingers at him.
Frankly, the game consists of a couple of hangers and a small space flight sim for small ships.
Whoopie Freakin Doo!
Exactly ,this is what i have been saying from day 1.They have put all that money and resources into making more ships to further profit from a game that is not even ready to sell.
That hanger can be made by 1 person in a few days, maybe a week if he is slow and lazy. The rest is outsourced ships, they are making profits selling ships made with other people's money that was entrusted to make a game.
I couldn't care lees about Ms.Harper or Chris or Derek,i go by what i see and what i see is a SCAMAZ !! Now on the note of not caring,i do care about those employees if they are being mistreated under the law and i would not doubt it for a minute because i have been around a very long time and seen things.
I call it a Pyramid scheme.
Never forget 3 mile Island and never trust a government official or company spokesman.
Something Politicians try to do when they have been exposed in something "awkward" is to try and get out "in front of it" by meeting the issue head-on with the truth and a bit of explaining. At that point, they usually can move on a little and go back to make the things right, that were wrong. I'm very surprised CR hasn't done this. Now some might say that maybe there was nothing wrong and so he had nothing to get in front of. If that is the case he should already have begun law-suits period. Any other course of actions makes CR look guilty as hell, wether he is or isn't. Train keeps- a-rollin- all-night-long-...........
Personally, i think this is all new domain regarding what should be released to the public, and what shouldn't be.
Crowd funding is essentially allowing "backers" to throw funds, and invest into project with no reasonable expectation/guarantee of deliverable, or over-site. Which is paramount to near charity.
Investors have a right to know why deliverables have yet to be released in accordance with expectations, especially if the recipient of said funds is living a life style benefited from said funds without delivering on promised product lines. That however is on the backers for not demanding a time-line w/ consequences for acceptance of crowd-funding.
I am a huge-hype-whore for Star Citizen, but i have refused to back a single dollar until a tangible product is formed for this very reason. I've been following this game for 4-5 years, and with all the hype aside i still see nearlly nothing really accomplished in that time - other than crowd-funding records being broke. It's starting to look like Televangelismto me.
Obscure promises that simply require a seed of funding with always future promises, with grains of deliverable while the head of the institution is living a life of luxury.

Not to mention just walked right into several of the allegations it was intended(I assume) to discount, And then with the GC topping it off with the over the top C&D. Professionalism isn't just something thats applicable only when things are going well.
Should be fun to watch though.

One person who worked closely with him told me Roberts was an narcissistic egomaniac. Probably why he and Derek Smart (also one, I'd bet) don't get along. Not enough space in any room for both their heads.....
If you are holding out for the perfect game, the only game you play will be the waiting one.
