I remember Shadowbane. Total pvp, found my character in a town in the desert, my gear completely destroyed from being killed repeatedly. I was reduced to playing as a naked beggar.
Well i thought EQ2 was also really good,it falls into that CLONE brackek
EQ2 isn't a clone mmo it was the first true themepark mmo, quest markers, on rails leveling and so forth.
EQ2 came out before WOW, no matter what some would have you believe, the fact remains it was released before WOW.
By what, 2 weeks? They rushed it out the door to beat Blizzard, and it clearly showed.
What launched was considerably different than today and over time EQ2 rapidly changed to be more like WOW, and not the other way around.
It was not rushed out. Prove it. They developed the game over a long period of time. No one knew if WOW would be a hit or not. With the EQ IP still doing well they had no reason to fear WOW at the time. It was not until later that WOW exploded and over took the market. They had no reason to 'rush' to beat Blizzard to the release. Blizzard had never made an MMO before what was there to fear in their minds? Blizzard themselves said they were more than surprised by the response to their game. Not even they thought it would do that well. What a silly post.
Yes i agree it was a desperate post and a pathetic try, he/she had no answer lol. I even wonder if some of these people were even about at the time.
Underrated to me is something that not many played but was a great game
agreed the problem though is all the people who havent played said game will just say its not a good game and given that the number of people is large thus just marginalizing that under rated game and makes the entire exercise futile.
Please do not respond to me, even if I ask you a question, its rhetorical.
As an example Ryzom had many elements that were and are unique to the genre yet really never got much love. Chronicles of Spellborn would be another. They did a good job of trying to do action combat in an MMO long before TERA or many others. They are nearly forgotten. Istaria could be said is another. Great crafting and playable dragons yet many never played it.
That is the point, they apparently didn't do a good job otherwise they would be still around/or got larger player base.
If I'm looking at games that are still open and playable I would have to say Age of Conan. It started off on a bad note but has really developed into a pretty decent game over the years. Also, unlike many games. It's graphics are still pretty decent. Not the most important thing by any means but it does help with immersion. Although they are starting to show there age.

If it was a great game, many people would play it...
World of Warcraft has millions of player. However, according to a lot of people on this site it's a horrible game. Some even claim that it was the start of the downfall of the mmo genre as a whole. I don't feel that WoW is a bad game but peoples opinions very.

Population doesn't equal quality.
you might need some help understanding what 'under rated means'
a qualifier for 'under rated' is a low population regardless of how much that population complains.

Just because stuff is different then a sandbox doesn't mean they didn't try to implement something similar. If you're looking all of the above in a themepark type game I don't know what to tell you. Maybe you should go back to playing Ultima Online. It has every feature that your looking for. You could play it in all it's stunning 2.5D on your Occuls Rift!

1. something similar? you have got to be joking 2. I am not implying that a good game has to have what is on my list HOWEVER, if one say 'has it all' they need to be confronted with reality despite their ridiculous bias toward AAA games and what they are used to

marketing plays a much larger role in 'decision economics' then any high school economics classes tries to suggest.
Yes, really.
Maybe you could actually attend those economics lessons first, then you would understand how wrong you are....
I did and no I am right on this. and its painfully clear.
so the 'lessons' they teach in high school is that all that is in the market is as people want it. That all the options without exception is what people want. If you dont know about it you dont know you might like it.
Then came along Led Zepplin and blew that theory completely out of the water...as one example assuming you know the history of AM radio duing that time

Are
you responding to me or Gdemami? I was responding to Gdemami. Which has nothing
to do with the op. Also, that is not the definition of underrated. I thought
people from Texas spoke English. Maybe you're an ESL Spanish speaker?
Merriam- Webster defines underrated as:
to rate or value (someone or something) too low
Does it anywhere in that definition
say anything about population or anything that deals with an MMO? No it doesn’t.
Your opinion on what a word or term means really doesn’t mean shit. Thanks for
you input though.
Any game can be underrated whether is has a high population or not.

Ah, so you know the theory, you just cannot draw correct conclusions

yes I know the theory and the theory is OBVIOUSLY wrong and I can cite TONS of examples.
If the theory was right most companies would not have marketing departments. Think about it

Is the Earth flat because those people claim it to be?
