Lootboxes should be restricted to adults (and it's on the company to insure the person buying it is an adult just like Alcohol). That also means not MARKETING to kids. They should also have the odds clearly posted somewhere.

Do those 2 things and I may not like lootboxes... but think under those circumstances they should be allowed to continue.
Lootboxes should not be banned becuase of subject morales. What next, ban  chocolate?
Which part of my 4 sentence post did you somehow misread to see me say they should be banned?   I said they should be restricted to adults same as alcohol, or gambling.
Why are you conflating the issue with alcohol?
Its an example of something civilized society has determined should be regulated and restricted to adults.
Well "civilized society" has failed.  I'm curious how you plan to do better in a digital venue though.

"Civilized society has failed because I say it has."

    What a load of wank.
I'm not surprised the sarcasm went over your head.
It doesn't matter if it was sarcasm.

    1) It wasn't humorous.

    2) It wasn't presented as being humorous.

    3) It made you look like an idiot either way.

    And

    4) It was the equivalent of throwing your arms into the air and shouting "the way things are is broken." As if that is somehow an actual rhetorical tactic.

And judging by the fact that everyone reacted to that in the same exact way, either you are hopelessly bad at sarcasm, or you are claiming that it was sarcasm to get yourself out of a hole you dug.

it is so refreshing to read your posts but you are fighting a battle you can't win...
Refreshing like a glass of cold cum, I'm sure. Because that's what it is. Also, it is awfully hard to win an argument when you're clearly and obviously wrong.

"EVERYONE"  You mean the 4 or 5 tough, cool mmorpg super users?  Yeah in case you missed it I really dont care what you guys think of me.  I will take it as a badge of honor you guys are out to get me.
    Apparently, you do.

And what's with the need to try and insult everyone?  Just chill and respond to posts and don't take crap personally if people disagree with you. (though his last part was really not needed, lumping everyone disagreeing with you as "4 or 5 tough, cool mmorpg super users" is similarly not needed and undercuts any argument you might want to make.)

I haven't insulted "everyone".  You guys just take my opinion as insults because they dont conform to the group think here.  It's ok dont take it personal.
So it wasn't mean as an insult when you said "4 or 5 tough, cool mmorpg super users"? OK. I doubt that but let's move back to the topic which you never responded to:

20% of the kids may get alcohol AT TIMES... like a party... but trying to argue that laws about alcohol have no impact or role in keeping the number low is just silly.

So YOU missed the point.   Without laws and regulations around alcohol would the percentage of minors using it be higher or lower?

I'll answer it for you... obviously it would be higher, thus the laws and regulations have a positive effect in limiting alcohol consumption and abuse in minors.

So you can argue that regulating lootboxes is imperfect and I would agree but it's certainly much better than no regulations at all.
No I agree the laws on alcohol are needed.  I dont think their needs to be laws on purchases inside a video game.
OK.  That's progress.   Your prior posts made it seem as though because the laws about alcohol were not perfect (you said 20% get access) that it was pointless.

So you agree that some laws to restrict the access to minors to certain things is needed and that they are beneficial.  This is good progress.

Now it is just a matter of opinion whether or not lootboxes should be included in similar regulations.   I believe they should.  You have a different opinion.  That's fine.  That's why we vote for representatives that align with our beliefs.

See... nobody out to get you.
Psst Aeander is going through all my post...that might be classified as "out to get me".  No worries if that's what he wants to do with his time fine by me.
Got anything to back that up? I haven't read a single post of yours in this thread from before my part of this conversation with you started.

I would hope I could scroll one page up at the time of posting.

Also, when you call someone a liar, they have every right to use reasonable means to vindicate themselves, liar.

...obviously you have something to back such claim up, right?
30 seconds of Google search later:

"After accounting for differences among the 50 states in various background factors, changes in economic and demographic factors within states over time, and the effects of other related laws, results indicated substantial reductions in alcohol-positive involvement in fatal crashes were associated with the two youth-specific laws.

The policy of limiting youth access to alcohol through MLDA laws and reinforcing this action by making it illegal for underage drivers to have any alcohol in their system appears to have been effective in reducing the proportion of fatal crashes involving drinking drivers."

    https://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/abs/pii/S0001457502000386

    And second result:

"After all states adopted an age 21 MLDA, drinking during the previous month among persons aged 18 to 20 years declined from 59% in 1985 to 40% in 1991.7"

    https://www.cdc.gov/alcohol/fact-sheets/minimum-legal-drinking-age.htm

Might wanna start practicing what you preach here and make sure all the data backs your shit up before you get on your high horse.

Alcohol, Cars and death are physical how are you able to compare them to digital loot boxes?  If they are not the same how can they be regulated the same?

Btw I came across Duel Universe for the first time yesterday.   Is that a hot topic for you guys? Just asking cause you mentioned it earlier.

As I said, that was a short conversation string going back one page (less than a page at the time, if memory serves), which was relevant to the claim being made. That is hardly going back through your posting history. Don't be a bellend.

I dont plan on taking advice or listening to an explanation of a comment from some who thinks loot boxes are far more dangerous than an activity that has cause people to lose everything even bring them to a point of killing themselves.  I hope you can understand my stance here.

..neither the post has anything to do with car accidents.

Once again, you just made completely irrelevant reply to a point being made.

btw: your link to FiFa player was hilarious too
Lol way to ghost the second source completely.

I offered two separate studies that show instances of underage drinking AND underage drunk driving we're reduced by regulating alcohol by age.  You completely missed the point, intentionally or otherwise.

    Try again.

Sad reality of the FTC is they NEVER get off their ass and do something on their own,we the people have to swarm them with massive evidence because they want to just sit in their lazy ass chair like the rest of the government employees.

Even if you provide them massive proof they still just MIGHT take a look if they feel like it.
Know why they went after pewdiepie and Disney, because they saw an easy pay cheque in it for them.
Pewdiepie has been a criminal for a very long time, even after many accounts of lying and ignoring the law,he is still doing it even to the point there has been a note of him fabricating sponsorship for various reasons.

Some larger entity needs to go after the FTC and force them to do THEIR job,get off their ass and do some research and pay attention to what is going on in the world.

    Awesome great news.

Hopefully RNG Boxes are required to at least have chance to get each item listed on it, and even in-Game enchanting takes a look into it showing % chance to success on items.

There's at least one that gets triggered by the mention of psychology and therapy... Tom Cruise style. I have no definitive proof but I'm betting he's into auditing :)

"They can enhance the experience for those who choose to use them, but have no impact on those who do not."
This is debatable. I don't know many people who think loot boxes enhance their gaming experience anymore. Also many games make sure that not purchasing loot boxes impact the player negatively in order to force them to buy the loot.

"Contrary to assertions, loot boxes are not gambling. They have no real-world value, players always receive something that enhances their experience, and they are entirely optional to purchase. "
So it's not gambling because you can never win anything of value? Haha. I see.
What real-world value does a losing lottery ticket have?
Oh, and many is the time that I get nothing in a loot box that enhances my experience.
They are optional to purchase but they often give some out for free and interlace it with the game's mechanisms, therefor making them unavoidable while playing.
Lastly someone should point out that, with the exception of car insurance, all gambling is optional.

There's no good legal definition of gambling so really just random things end up counting. I mean pinball machines and bowling were considered gambling for a while. I kid you not. Declaring it gambling won't matter much. The majority of gamers are now over the legal age for gambling anyway. Oh wait. Is gambling still illegal? This world is changing very fast.
