Why are we even talking about Kickstarter in this thread?

Saga of Lucimia did NOT use Kickstarter, ever. From the beginning, they raised money using direct payments made through their website store.

This whole KS debate is completely off-topic and should be moved to the subforum of a game that that actually used it.

They did use Indegogo and raised something like $3800

But some folks want to make this about a greater Crusade.   All I know is that Tim left the game as of Sept...

Why are you providing cover for this guy? I'm starting to think you are some how tied to this project or you know Tim in real life here. It is really weird how much time you have wasted trying to deflect the criticism this project rightly deserves.

Scam or not, this project will never see the light of day. They have been working on this since 2015 with nothing more to show than a glorified tech demo. I don't get why so many people are giving cover to a person who clearly was a total jerk on these forums as well? Why do you care? What benefit are you getting here by trying play the role of forum cop? Who cares if people want to label this a scam, or make snide remarks about Tim's character? The guy deserves every single bit of it.

You're damn right people are on a crusade too! We are fugging tired of these snake oil salesman trying to sell us empty promises basically. Enough is enough already. This project deserves to be criticized into oblivion.
This is a perfect example of how NOT to go after a company.
No explanation needed for the 99% of rational folks.
For the other 1%... you keep doing you.  Its fun to watch.

When people start losing money, they get irrational. Keep making excuses though for this guy, it is fun to watch lol.
You are 100% correct on the first part but the second is just laughable.
Saying: "Show me proof that he potentially committed FRAUD by paying himself money that he said he would not.  If you have proof I will join in"
Is only "making excuses for this guy" in the eyes of an irrational person.

Like I said, keep doing you though.

Now you are making excuses for your excuses lol. If it walks like a duck....
Sure BigGuy...  how about you go to the thread in our forums where their Community Manager just posted and ask her some direct questions?

Or you can of course just keep shouting at the air...

I mean, I can handhold you guys on how to PROPERLY do this stuff if you need...

Who makes you the authority on how to properly criticize projects? I still think it is funny how much you keep shilling for these guys. Maybe you are a mole for this company possibly?
SO you literally won't click a few forums over and ask her?

    Very revealing.
I've been looking over your post history and you have some huge red flags when it comes to this game. I'm firmly convinced that you have some kind of involvement with this project that goes beyond just being an early backer. Even now, you're still shilling hard for these guys lol.

I'm reading the thread Mr. Obvious, I still don't care, it's just more corporate BS to try to smooth over customer fears. You act like companies always tell the truth to their customers as well.
The more you talk the more you reveal ignorance. Both in what you say and in what you are too afraid to ask the actual CM.
    Keep going :)
I'll go warm up the popcorn.

I've asked Tim tough questions for years and he completely deflected. I've asked this CM you keep shilling questions on her Twitch channel all the time and I always get the same answer. "We aren't ready to reveal that information as this time"

What would make you think that we would get honest answers as to what is really going on from a CM? Where you like born yesterday? You seem like the typical type of a gamer these scam artists pretty much prey on. Keep shilling though, it is fun to watch.
    Munch...
So you literally won't click 2 forums over and ask her your questions?  In all likelihood she dodges but by not even ASKING one must question your credibility
    Munch...
    Think I'm a shill
    Munch...
    As usual no examples...
    Munch...
    Just talking at the air..
    Munch...

Going to get a drink to wash down the popcorn.

Keep deflecting and shilling. I asked her a question, lets see what corporate BS response we will get this time. Your faith in these guys is misplaced padawan.

If it walks like a duck, then at least it walks at all, and hence isn't dead.  Which would be an upgrade for quite a few crowdfunded games.

Well, not sure what others take away was from this, for me, it simply reaffirms my belief that if I ever designed a game, or owned a game studio, that I should hire a PR rep to handle dealing with the masses, as I know I lack the restraint not to make a PR train wreck of myself if I slogged it in the trenches.

    That's not the case.

As per my Patreon post (linked in the original article here https://www.patreon.com/posts/end-of-era-but-45324189), they "..have all of the design documents I created in 2014 and refined for over six years as the Creative Director and founder/CEO of the company, plus they retain the rights to make an MMORPG based on my literary works..."

Gonna nip that rumor in the bud.

Stormhaven studios won't be able to use any of Saga of Lucemia IP - they will have to scrap all lore, names etc... and start from scratch as they can't use Renfails IP at all anymore.

So the big announcement that is coming is about a completely new game that won't be SoL as Saga of Lucemia is dead.

    Video about it here:

So there you go @Renfail - SoL will never be made, as we told you here repeatedly that it just won't happen.

Turns out we were right all along, you lived up to your name and failed.

Been wondering about this. Tim wrote all the story and lore himself. He is a talented writer imo. I've read Echoes of the Past and really enjoyed it.

Yeah, don't believe everything you read on the Interwebz :)

They literally OWN the rights to the MMORPG called the Saga of Lucimia. As the creator of the IP, I own all the other rights, but they own, free and clear, the rights to make the MMORPG version.

Perhaps they view it as having unnecessary baggage associated with it?

Both sides could just make public statements on what exactly went down and put the speculation to rest.

I'm not a fan boi, I don't really enjoy SoL, but it takes very little effort to determine that the development of the game is alive and well. They have testing sessions almost weekly, and have for a couple of years. Do some research and update your article instead of insinuating that the game is dead. Poor form.

Nope, all it takes is to become a backer, then you can access the game and share your impressions, whoops, wait, no you can't, store has been shut down then there is the NDA and all that.

Game is dead until they publically reveal more info, instead though they have gone the other way by removing all previous video evidence, provide no public updates and let this comical reveal continue regard Tim's exit.

At this point, scam until proven otherwise.

I am of the belief that Tim walked out the door, and left the lights on to give the illusion that someone was there, when there wasn't.

And I'll hold that till proven otherwise.

They literally OWN the rights to the MMORPG called the Saga of Lucimia. As the creator of the IP, I own all the other rights, but they own, free and clear, the rights to make the MMORPG version.

So you're saying they are still making a Saga of Lucimia MMO? Or are you saying they are choosing not to make an MMO based on the Saga of Lucimia IP?

Apparently, from what that video said, they are CHOOSING not to make an MMO based on the Saga of Lucimia IP.

As per my Patreon post from January 3rd, as far as I was aware they were still making an MMORPG based on the Saga of Lucimia IP until this video showed up, which was published today it appears.

Having the conversation be about the 'conflict' sure does leave a clean exit through the back door with the money... but I'm sure that isn't what's going on here or anything...

Let me know when they tell us where backer funds went.

@Kyleran ... really? you gonna go back and change all the comments + agrees mocking the ones who were right this entire time or are you just going to tippy toe behind us and pretend you were there all along?

Are you joking around? If not it's despicable behavior that you'd take what we've been writing for over a week now, reword it like it's something new being said then completely forget somehow that you've been lockstep with Slap taking the OPPOSITE stance and mocking us in this entire thread + the others.

LOL, you really don't understand how the game is played here, do you?

For the record.  My stance hasn't changed 1 iota.  Everything I said before remains true today.

I do not believe that anyone (Tim or remaining members) stole the backer money or lied and paid themselves.  This is what was alleged.  I am open to changing my view if I see anything that actually indicates that.  I do not believe that is an irrational stance

I do not believe that these people hid their experience and pretended this was their first MMO in order to raise money.  This was also an allegation.  I simply do not believe that and honest l think it's an off the wall allegation to even make.

I never, from day 1, have thought they would succeed in their tilting at windmills dream project. I have not seen the actual gameplay in years.  Is it developing nicely? Is it stagnant and missing 98% of promised features like Remsleep says?  I dunno.  The beauty is that, at the end the truth always come out. And their backers have actually had access to regular testing so they know the actual state of the game right now.  Other than Rem I have not heard anyone else who claims to be a backer complain about the state of the game.

But there is a vast difference between saying "This project is extraordinarily unlikely to make it to a successful launch" and "The developers lied about their experience in order to swindle people and they lied about paying themselves and the backer money is MIA".  Maybe all those turn out to be true, but simply asking for some proof of very specific allegations of wrongdoing (some of which may have legal implications) is not "shilling". Not even close.

If you honestly do not see the difference there then the issue is on your side.

I wouldn't blame them for that choice one bit.

I think its clear that anyone at Stormhaven doesn't want to work on anything touched by you - if we are to believe the rumors.

My point still stands - with or without tim - whatever ends up happening with Stormhaven is gonna be a hot mess, I have zero hopes for Stormhaven the most likelihood is they just implode over time and fail
As a backer I am quite curious about those rumors, as in that I have heard none. I am also not on their Discord so if I missed something, please share.
