I agree with OP. WoW is best made MMORPG currently. Only EvE-online can compete with it.

I only played WoW one month when it was released, but after trying several other games I am starting to agree with orginal poster. Other games have too slow gameplay, out dated graphics, weird graphics, grind & grind, not enough content or just stupid company running game (SOE). I wish that someday someone crossbreeds EvE-Online and WoW. I think that I will resubscribe WoW after my subscription ends in CoH/V.

Honestly, all current MMORPGs are just average at best - most of them are just bad. There is lot's or room to improvements.

Lol... You're kidding yourself if you think WoW is the best MMO out there... You're unemployed and looking to pay for a job if you are saying EvE Online is second best.

MMORPGs are not designed to be experienced fully in 1 month. If your criteria is 1 month then jeah.. you have a point, WoW and EvE stop being fun after about a month or so. You can only judge a MMORPG fully if you spend at least 6 months playing it hardcore.

Currently there simply is NOT a single best MMORPG out there, one has a smooth and fun starting experience, others you'll find the mid-game the best, yet pthers have enormous depth where others are extremely shallow, and yet others again you'll find that the end-game totally rocks and vica versa there simply is not one MMORPG out there that is flat out best in all areas.

Best solo level up experience - WoW
Best group based level up experience - DAOC
    Most freedom - EvE Online
Best story - The Saga of Ryzom
    Best end game - DAOC
    Most depth - DAOC
    Most flexible - EvE Online
    Best longlivety - DAOC
    Best character creation - COH/COV
    Best crafting - EvE Online
    Best graphics - EQII
    etc. etc.

14 million customers over a 3 year period as opposed to WoW's 19 million customers over a 2 year period.

Wow has 6.5 million active subscribers, Lineage II peaked at 2 million I think.

Lineage II has a lot of players on private servers, but that not counted within i think...

Actually you can tell the best viedo game out there.. by the numbers really... its what you like to play, after all your the one playing the service fee month after month to play it... and no one can change your opinion about what would be a good game or not, its what you like, what you feel comfortable playing in...

not what the man tells you to play but what you the gamer wants to play..

Playing daoc and loving it totally..
    have Played
    Eq,Eq2,WoW,Coh,Cov,

then they probably mean the total amount of players they had OVER the 2 years. it sure as hell isn't the current people playing Lineage 2, the mmorpg market doesn't even have more then 12.5 million subscribers to begin with.

Why are so many WoW players so insecure about their choice of MMO that
they have to constantly spam forums talking about how WoW is the best
game ever?   What the "best" MMO is is totally subjective and depends
on what someone is looking for in an MMO, and you know this.  So, stop
    trolling and thumping your chest.

If you want to actually have a conversation instead of trolling and
stroking your e-peen, why don't you try "WoW is my favorite MMO that's
    out, and here's why...".

So the OP is correct. WoW is all about fun .... especialy if your crap at games and want to be a l33t d00d without actually having to put in any effort.

WoW is to MMORPG's what Mills and Boon is to literature. Bland, easy to follow mediocrity for the masses.

I would have to disagree.  It was great for the first 3 months and then your lvl 60 and "game over".  PvP is a joke.  Quest are ok, but they do get old just like all mmorpg's.  Almost all mmorpg's I have played, which is just about everyone released, I have gone back to most of them at least once to play again.  I have yet to enter WoW since I left 3 months after release.  Again in most mmorpg's I have played, I love playing several alts.. in WoW, playing another alt just seemed like a rerun of the game again.  I have several friends who still play WoW and if you like it.. by all means play it, but don't say it's the best out there.

As far as I'm concerned there is no best mmorpg out there.  There are several good mmorpg's out there.

WoW the best mmo?  No.  Best selling mmo?  Sure.

I think WoW has the most subscribers for 2 reasons.  1: It says Blizzard and Warcraft on it.  2: The game is very easy.  Some of my friends play and I thought I'd never see them play any type of RPG game.  I played WoW for a month, then canceled.  Got bored.  Figured I'd give it another shot, and stop playing almost after a month.  You get too bored with the game.  The pvp sucks and so is the grind.

WoW's graphics had their own unique feel to it.  They looked pretty nice.  As far as characters go, everyone looks the same!  Good luck finding a guild too, because only the good guilds want 60s with good gear to raid with.

DAoC would probably be the best MMO imo(yes, my OPINION so don't hate me :P) if you didn't have to have a 2nd account for a buff bot in order to compete.  I think DAoC could have done without ToA too with the powerful equipment.  DAoC has the best end-game imo hands down.  The PvP is just so great.  I've played DAoC for probably 2 years.  I'd probably still be playing, but again I got tired of playing $30 a month even though it's a good game.

But let's face it.  The MMO Scene is pretty "meh' right now.  I can't seem to find a game that grips me.  I've been thinking about trying EQII, and hell, even the original EQ.

I'm really hoping that WAR is a great game because it looks pretty nice so far.  People say WAR is copying WoW, but they're just fanboys and think that WoW invented MMORPGs or something.

    Best at what?

MMORPGs have subgenres with great differences in actual gameplay and as such the communities.

I recognise WoW as currently the best class based PvE itemgrinder, but it has only basic PvP, an uninspired crafting system and no meaningful economics. Player controlled land doesn't exist neither does player controlled buildings or persistant NPCs for them and your presence has a minimal effect on the gameworld for everyone else (as in; something got killed. Wait for it to spawn again. Or; you added x items to the global item grind).

If you want to take this as undermining of WoW, be my guest, but it'll still be true :P

I'm repeating myself here, but WoW is a themepark. It's a fun ride from 1-60. There's some interesting challenges at 60. And then you've seen all the rides and "you've beat the game". What keeps you going from there is your relation with the community.

WoW its the best. Now If you know my history you know that I am Sincrere . I defended SWG in their forums when the beta boys from WoW started to recruit the SWG players in thier forums . ( arrogant SOE did not care for awhile - that changed and now their top execs play the game.)  SOE kick folks right into WoW and WoW what a difference!

I would have to hinestly admit to playing wow for 6 months or so.. and having a 60... the game is really pretty but some things you just dont do in a game..wont go back and play..it was one of the worst experiences i have veer had in a mmorpg...

    i wil just say this

if you think you know your online gameing friends.. that you have known more then 5 years. think again..

Playing daoc and loving it totally..
    have Played
    Eq,Eq2,WoW,Coh,Cov,
    and other..

I think there are enough threads on this forum of ignorant people like you blindly praising WoW. We don't need anymore of these threads, so here's me showing you the door. WoW is only fun while you're leveling. Thats it. Get over it, WoW has terrible endgame, and your preaching won't change that. If you can somehow bear the incredible chore that is WoW-post 60, then don't let me be the one to ruin your fun. Just spare us actual gamers from your delusions of WoW greatness.

I played wow for a while and had fun mostly because I have been playing blizzard games for a long time.  I love the warcraft RTS games and was excited to play WOW because of that.  However I did get bored fairly quickly because it was so easy.

I have a RL friend, who never played a PC game until WOW, within 3 weeks he has a level 47....  That should say all that needs to be said about WOW.  Its a great intro to the world of MMO.  They need more CONTENT so people don't get bored.  Some people have been keeping there accounts open waiting for this content to come.  I was not willing to.  I'm suprised that blizzard has not added that much to the game.  Maybe that's because there other games have been player driven, such as starcraft, warcraft and diablo.
