If I understood it correctly, you don't scale upwards by venturing alone into high level areas or with people your level. The sidekick system is made so that when your friends starts off at level one, and say you're level twenty, you can choose him …

There's way more than just one race buddy, you saw that yellow alien chick (Can't recall the race, but her race was my main in jedi academy) the one with the tentacles as hair.. Ish. All in all, couldn't agree with you more.
