For the graphics problem try going into options, or re-install the game... for the vendor just press enter then type /merchant then press enter again or go into commands/trade then double click on merchant i think... good luck

I also had trouble chatting at first, an easy way to 'private message' someone is to click on them so they are highlighted in green, then, click the 'private' tag under the 'talk' box.
