'Hardcore' is a marketing buzzword that means nothing to me. Those of us who were around for UO and EverQuest never used that word to describe what we were playing. We might have used words like 'good' or 'bad', but those words don't have much weigh…

Why should they call it "World of Warcraft"? It plays nothing like Warcraft 1, 2 , or 3.
Actually, a lot of things from previous Warcraft games carried over to WoW. The art style was consistent with Warcraft 3. The…

I don't mind playing clerics in MMOs...but only for soloing or playing with my guild. What I dislike is getting tells from players (PUGS usually) begging me to join their group because they need a healer. The less ga…
As much as I like King's Field (the origin of action-based RPG combat in a 3D setting), Dark Souls and Dragon's Dogma, I don't think that style of combat would work well in an MMO. What works for small-scale dungeon crawling won't necessarily work f…

That would be fine if they hadn't evoked EverQuest 1 in their 'My EQ Story' ad campaign and slyly hinted that EQN was going to be a return to the hardcore roots of the series in their tweets before the unveiling and subsequent backtracking ("I would…
Was there a genuine backlash against the trinity or was it a marketing gimmick for games like GW2 that unsuccessfully tried to break away from tradition? I lost interest in WoW years ago but not because of the way it handled classes.

I used to put a cover on my sandbox when I was done playing with it so the cats wouldn't use it as a litterbox. Too bad I can't stop SOE from doing the same to EverQuest.
I've been playing MMOs off and on since the Ultima Online beta and I like the idea of mega-servers. That really is the way to go with an RvR-based MMO since it prevents one faction from totally dominating a server.

During the presentation the main devs did actually play the game live and there were cameras behind the stage showing as much.
It looked like they were pretending to play and spitting out lame scripted …
A good portion of the complaints about ESO can be applied to any Elder Scrolls game (choppy animation, one dimensional combat). I'm not a fan of the series, but I'm more likely to give ESO a try because it has RvR combat and it's not World of Minecr…
