Very good question. I know WoW is the first game I played that had it. But I had only played a couple online games before that and none of them used it. So unsure who used that feature before I saw it's use in WoW.

Well your machine is a little better then my laptop and I have no problems playing at medium setting. I average about 20-30 fps. You may not be able to play in raids or large pvp events, but normal questing and small dungean runs should be ok.

Yes the updater uses a private version of bit torrent. So most likely that is what you school is seeing. Because it does use the same ports as any other torrent program.

I would guess he will need to buy the game to get a retail key. Most buddy passes I have seen in other games let you pick up where you left off at. He will just need to make sure he updates his account with the new key not create a new account.
