Played to level 9. I was a Vanboi, then SOE was involved....I actually 'liked' the idea of SOE being involved, but then we have open beta...what garbage....
He said he is reinstalling it meaning he deleted the beta cause it was garbage now hes going to patch up in 45 minutes so he can tell us its garbage again ya ok
Excuse me ignoramous? Right. First off, the game has improved to the point I'm keeping my station access, next I'd like to say the game has improved vastly. Enormously, even. Maybe God smiled on McQuaid after all... Love the new Character Select too, very nice. Voices? Check. Lag? Gone. Loading? Gone. Graphics run smoother, animations, etc.? Check. Music lag? Only when I was booted out of the game to desktop and maximized it again.
Holla.
Edit : I have yet to re-level but we'll see I hope?
Despite all the headaches this game has been giving me, I already chose to buy it weeks ago. But i'm seriously close to tossing my PC out the window if they don't get the CTD issue fixed ASAP. They need to fix that first. I'm sick as hell going into a new area and having my PC freeze like it's some POS
Not to brag, but
E6600 @ 3.2GHZ
8800GTX @ 620/2000
2 gigs of G.skill 800Mhz
So I know it's not my system. It ALWAYS happens when it loads a city/huge area. My PC freezes like hell, than will crash because of it.
Thinking maybe a memory leak or something. And I updated all my hardware :P
It's what many of us here already knew! Not everything that is going to be in the full game is in the Beta and the game went through a large transformation last night. I flew around on my Griffon for the better part of 3 hours with my Jaw trailing somewhere behind me. The sheer size of this seemless world is awe inspiring. The more I play, the more addicted I become!
Sh1t! I've never seen such incredibly fast paced patching heh, you got to give them credit for that. SoE must be hunting the dev team with a blowtorch now. I don't think they want more bad publicity.
Yes, the patch yesterday was great - Sigil has done great work so far. Atm there is almost every day a patch - and this one included new graphics, spell animations, new sound - I definitely buy it.
I refuse to call my self a "hater" more a realist but luckily I still had the zip file, I was not about to redownload it.
I will give it a shot if iot finishes patching some time today. It was a old beta 3 zip file so I figure patching will take a while. If it truly is better I will gladly eat a crow sandwich. My main complaints were the graphic lag, lousy textures and poor animations. I figure they would get around to adding some content and making it more solo friendly after release like they did with EQII.
edit - amazingly enough the patch is only going to take a bit more than 30 minutes. Kudos to the patch team ona efficient patch. I was figuring on several hours of patching.
The last patch was truly a well needed one. All I can say is IMHO the game is much more polished. I'm not saying it's "done" or "perfect" as there is more work to be done. I'll even go as far as saying it's still going to need its tweaks here and there at release. Everyone, however, must agree that Sigil is certainly working hard to get this game right. They're listening to the tester's remarks/feedback and making appropriate adjustments to gameplay. I recall reading so many flamer threads on VG about this and that when the game was in the early stages of beta. I hope Sigil as well as V: SoH is earning a little more respect from the gaming community.
Well they haven't added tracking for Rangers. And stealth doesn't work in PVP. The quest that would give me the xbow i need is bugged. Half the time i teleport to new Tanipor I am stuck. So i stuck out, and wind up in an area that isn't finished yet. So all the areas around me are locked. So the only way to get out is to recall. So i just stand there for a half hour, waiting for my recall to refresh.
So stop saying how polished this game is now. Its not.
Hey guys just a quick one, Im not playing beta Im saving myself for the release, just like a good virgin. But I was wondering the patch notes on the beta update site looks great, but people have commented on large areas of unpopulated areas, its not clear on the beta site if new content is being opened up etc .... can a beta player tell me what the deal is here?
Thanks
P.S. I will be buying Vanguard, can't wait and bring it on!!
The game is running smoother, the animations are getting better, but still have much room for improvement. Same with combat -- I still have monsters that just freeze animations while attacking me (not always, but occassionally), I draw my sword, swing and hit creatures that are 10-20 feet away from me, and I often I don't have to directly face the mobs to hit them -- they can be standing to my side several feet away.
Overall though, I am pleasantly surprised by the rate that they seem to be fixing the game. I can hardly wait to hear how the game is on the first day of release. Maybe they'll pull this off yet.
I am just going to make a couple of comments on the graphics since that was always one of my big gripes. Server load was light.
here are a couple of screenshots of benchmarks of my machine that I took these on. Although to be fair I am only running at 3.0 ratehr than the 3.4 when these shots were taken. I have not noticed much of a effect in my other games and figure why stress my chip unless benching.
performance is worse. My FPS dropped, I was getting 30 FPS average with the same settings. On the good side jaggies were not as bad, textures seemed to have improved somewhat, and the trees stopped glittering. I got a lot of stuttering ingame, another term would be glitchs. I would be running and every now and then I would get a hitch for about a half a second. Very annoying.
graphics problems are more numerous these 2 shots were taken in the first 5 minutes in game
people were sinking into the ground at times. The animations are still horrid. When this guy was swinging at the bug his sword was passing the bug at shoulder height.
All in all I still recommend either not buying at all unless you have a upper mid end machine, or if you do have a fairly recent box waiting a few months till the inevitable free trial. Don't waste your 50 bucks.
Well jack considering your computer beats mine by 3800 in 3Dmark 06 am i ever glad i went with AMD and ATI cause am running better fps than you and at highest quality maybe your drivers are not compatible seems strange your machine is way better than mine makes no sense

I get 50 FPS solid in EQII at the highest settings not my machine seems as if it is just crap code in this game. But I guess what you are saying is that anyone with Intel or Nvidia should pass on purchaing the game? Only amD and ATI users need apply?
Comments
And its still influenced by $OE.
And its not non-raider friendly.
And lots of other stuff.

I patched in under 30 min.
I miss the good ol' days when nerds were actually intelligent.

Please fix, for the love of god.
And yeah, great patch. See y'all in retail.

What is amazing is the actually did more than just change the color of the font over peoples head. I guess you can get a lot done in open beta.

They Did a awsome job.
