Mistaked was a typo, jackass. I'm not old enough to get my GED and I don't like people acting like they know all when thier opinions differ from mine, cuz to me they don't know jack if they don't have my insight on things. A controller is way easier to use. Look at the poll, it clearly states that I'm right.
You mean the poll that 4 people voted on? LOL, good one. Console games blow. I just showed my neighbor the other day the games I have on my comp, along with my sound system, and hes getting rid of his PS2 and Xbox and all his games, and got a new computer. I have already stated my opinion many times on this thread.....but to say that loading times on PC's are faster than on consoles is only a version of the truth. It is true if you have a $2000 gaming PC, but for the majority of folks that do not have the top of the line gaming PC...this is just not true. Just try playing BF1942 on a decent PC. The loading time between battles is any where from 3-6 minutes. Or how about AO...at least 2 to 3 min. There is no such thing as a 2-6 minute loading time on a console....as I said earlier, consoles are less powerful than PC's and can not do as many things as a PC. They are however more cost effective and efficient gaming platforms....Xaldor
Oh and by the way you can listen music in the background on a console...see XBOX....Xaldor
I dont have any games that take 3-6 minutes to load or anywhere even close. And I only run a 2.0Ghz PC. I dont think anyones comp takes that long to load anything, unless its really old. Its not really hard to see that graphics on a PC are MUCH more fluid and dense, consoles graphics are really grainy.

ramadin, I don't care that your neighbor's an easily contorted fool. Take my advice, have a few drinks and drive to a friend's(If you have any.) house. It'll be a good thing for everybody. I typed a longer version of this, but it timed me out or whatever they say. PC games aren't as fun because it's harder to remember the controls and they're often too involved, with people swearing by them. What the hell is up with you? Do you live just to annoy people?
Let me get this straight. You get on the PC, go to MMORPG.com which is almost all PC games, and create an account just to complain about PC games? Wow.
First of all, ramadin is not my name. Second of all, if you cant remember the controls for a game thats your own fault. Especially since every single game basically uses the same setup, and if not you can customize it to the same setup. Its obvious you know nothing about computers, so dont get all uptight because its beyond your realm of understanding. Dont be bitter just 'cause daddy cant afford to buy you a real gaming machine. How did you post this message by the way, on your PS2? Oh no, thats right... you cant. Get off the PC before you taint it with your Playstationitis.

The flaming on this post has reached a new low with threats of physical harm to another member of our community....while I may be on the other side of the debate with ramadin, I certainly think that he is entitled to his opinion, as are we all...that's why it's called a FORUM....something should be done here....Xaldor
If people refer to you by it, it is your name. I know it's just some stupid login ID, but when on this site it is your name, that's my opinion at least. And I'd like to note that I threatened noone. He hit a nerve, and I don't deal well with other people acting better then me, which is how I percieved him acting.Ramen noodles...
Hmm, I dont think I need to say anything else. Kuzzle proved all my points for me by acting very unintelligent, whether he is or not. What someone is doing posting on a MMORPG site that doesnt even play MMORPG's is beyond me.

There are alot of people who really can't afford a computer, don't moch me for not having vast amounts of money, you petty SOB. At least I have a computer, a relativly new one at that. Ramen noodles.
Originally posted by n2sooners First, even if I buy a console, I will still need a good PC to run the programs I run and to do the other things I do with a PC from paying bills, to printing, to working with graphics, to posting on message boards. So the PC expense is still there, it would just be slightly less.
You could miss a few upgrades. Missing just one upgrade would buy a console.
Second, I don't know about anyone else, but my family doesn't enjoy sitting around and watching me play games (and it goes both ways). So I would need another TV set to play. And since I can't play in my bedroom when my wife wants to sleep any more than I can play on the living room TV when she wants to watch a movie, I would need to find a place to put it (build onto the house? well, maybe not that far).
And you can all use the PC at the same time? Explain this to me, I want a 5 user simlutaneous PC too. Wow, I work in this industry and did not know such a thing exists...
And let's not forget that monitors look much better than TVs unless you are going to sink some real cash into an HD TV.
Can you sit 8 feet away from your monitor on the couch and play your PC game?? Hmmm...
Third, if I get a game console, my kids will want to play. In the end, they would want their own console(s). Fortunately, my son has a TV in his room (and my daughter will soon as well), so new TVs for them isn't a problem. Unfortunately, they will want different games than what I play. Right now, when I build a new computer (pretty much every year), the old ones go down the line, so everyone gets an upgrade.
And your kids don't want their own PC or their own PC games? Tell me how this proves anythign other than PCs having some of the EXACt SAME drawbacks as consoles... The goog thing about a console is that when daddy needs to balance his checkbook with Quicken, Junior can still play games. A console would take quite a bit of usage battle off of the PC.
In the end this is a pointless argument. The line between the two will only continue to blur. Check out what Microsoft is doing with XMA. http://www.microsoft.com/xna/
Yes, XNA was invented so that every company that makes a PC game can convert it to XBox easily. It is a tool to fight against the PS-2, and that is its only purpose. Doesn't botther me one bit.
How can something so obvious be overlooked? I said if I lived near him I would threaten him. That is not a threat. Well, maybe a threat to threaten or some kind of far off thing like that...
Originally posted by ramadin Anyway, graphics on PC have always been better than console games. Using a keyboard and mouse, for me, is easier than using a controller, and you have alot more buttons if you need them.
Graphics on a PC are not better if you put them on a TV. Getting used to a controller just takes a little time. There are two analog sticks and 14 buttons on my XBox controller. That is enough buttons for 98% of the games out there...
You cant get the graphics that you can get on a monitor because the dot pitch on a TV is REALLY high.
But you can sit 8 times farther away which evens this out... This is not an advantage of the PC... It is a disadvantage for the PC.
PC games load faster than a console, I hate waiting too.
Not any faster, sorry, not true. And, I don't have to sit through a 20 minute INSTALL on my console.
And, you can download a demo for almost any game you want to try out, FREE. Not to mention alot of games are free anyway. Then if you dont like it, dont buy it.
I can rent the FULL version of a brand new game for .99 cents if I have the monthly Hollywood video coupon, or $3.99 if rent them at the family video staore. And it take me less time to drive 1 mille, rent a game and play it, than it does for you to download it and install it.
Aside from all that, a console cant burn CD's, cant play music in the background while youre playing a game, cant surf the internet for hints, cheats, walkthroughs, tips etc.
No... But a $300 PC can do that stuff while I play games on my $150 console. While you have to have a $600+ PC to play the latest PC game and do that stuff. The console + cheap PC route is cheaper.
and they dont have any MMORPG's ( no Final Fantasy doesnt count, its crap even for the PC).
True, but that is changing. EQOA, and the new MMORPG for the XBox that MS is publishing will start the ball rolling for console MMORPGs.
Like Rocky's wife said in Rocky IV... "You can't win!"
Right, I'm sorry for acting like an ass, I dind't threaten anybody though.
I'm going to have to agree with TaskyZZ even if he did make a comment on how all my posts should be deleted on another forum. So far every point he's made has been valid.

HAHA. That commant was because of the HUGE bold font you were using. You quit using it and all is better... People will respect your opinion more for it...
Just remember. Do not let people goad you into getting angry. It is just a friendly text message board. Nobody is going to spread rumors about you at school (or work, depending on your age). I know this is a hard concept for younger people, but shortly after leaving school and getting a job, you will see that popularity that mattered in school relly didn't.
People like to post stuff like "Get over it", and "Don't get your panties in a bunch", etc... This way, they can try to upset you without out actually flaming, so they look like the good guy when the flaming does start. You have to ignore it... Heck I even post that stuff sometimes, and I try hard not to. In fact, I think I put one of those phrases in this thread... I am apologizing now! Sorry!
You could miss a few upgrades. Missing just one upgrade would buy a console.

How many upgrades would I need to miss to buy the console, a new TV, and all the add ons for the console such as a keyboard, hard drive, and extra controllers? I think you missed the point on the family having to watch me play. If I am on the computer, they can watch TV or DVDs at the same time. If I have a console and I am playing games, they can't. And my kids do have their own computer. As I build new ones, I pass the old ones down, and when I upgrade, I pass the old components down. So while they don't have a top of the line computer, it serves it's purpose. To top it off, even if I got consoles for everyone, I wouldn't just have to keep my computer, and my wife and kids would still want their own for everything from chatting, to e-mail, to playing free games online (another plus for computers).
One other downside to consoles is communication. While it is comfy to sit in the Lazy Boy with a controller in your hand playing some games, it isn't comfortable to set that controllers down, pick up the keyboard that is lying on the floor, then set it in your lap and try to type out a message to your friends or group. MMO games played on consoles will never develop the community and friendships that a PC game will, and therefore will never have the life of those PC games. The console gamer just won't have the ties to keep them in the game long past the time they would normally quit like a PC does.

The XBox has a hard drive, you don't need a keyboard as with XBox Live you can actually TALK to the people you are playing with. As far as the number of upgrade you need to miss, that depends. Miss buying a Radeon 9800 Pro and save $400. That will get you a console, all the accessories you need, and a couple games to boot.
I think you missed the point on the family having to watch me play. If I am on the computer, they can watch TV or DVDs at the same time. If I have a console and I am playing games, they can't.
Nope, haven't missed the point. Sure they can play together. 4 people can play an XBox game, only one can play a PC game. Sounds lie you said they have tehir own TV's. If you ar eplaying the console, they can watch in their room.
And my kids do have their own computer. As I build new ones, I pass the old ones down, and when I upgrade, I pass the old components down. So while they don't have a top of the line computer, it serves it's purpose.
I agree. Nice of you to keep the useful PCs running. But it sounds like only one PC is top of the line for the latest games. Sounds like we have another one at a time scenario here...
To top it off, even if I got consoles for everyone, I wouldn't just have to keep my computer, and my wife and kids would still want their own for everything from chatting, to e-mail, to playing free games online (another plus for computers).
Console for everyone? Does your family have a hard time with sharing or playing together. Nothing helps build family togetherness better than sitting down and playing Fuzion Frenzy, Shrek Party, or Monopoly Party together. Free games? Rening games for consoles is dirt cheap, and they are the latest games on the market.
One other downside to consoles is communication. While it is comfy to sit in the Lazy Boy with a controller in your hand playing some games, it isn't comfortable to set that controllers down, pick up the keyboard that is lying on the floor, then set it in your lap and try to type out a message to your friends or group.
Answered thisone already. Xbox Live allows you to actually TALK to the people you play with. Tell me, when playing a FPS team based game online and you start taking fire, can you fight back and call for help at the same time? No, you have to type "Help" and take your attention off of fighting back. With XBox Live, I can fight back and yell, "Help, enemies over here". Keyboard type chatting is a thing of the past.
MMO games played on consoles will never develop the community and friendships that a PC game will, and therefore will never have the life of those PC games. The console gamer just won't have the ties to keep them in the game long past the time they would normally quit like a PC does.

Originally posted by bad_boy_01 I think that the best way for new games companies it to make servers where both console and pc users can play together. I know of one game that is doing this but i cant remember the name
The game is called FFXI my friend. As for game consoles taking over the market, they already have. Console games outsell PC games by like 10 to 1. While it's common for maybe 10-15 consoles games to sell over a million copies a year (i.e. Madden, NBA Live, Project Gotham 2, KOTOR, Splinter Cell, etc..), it's very rare to see a PC game sell over 1 million copies. I think Warcraft III may have been the last one to do it. Still, with so many people playing PC games online now, PC games will be around for awhile. There are just certain games that PLAY and LOOK better on the PC. Of course if you have an XBox and HDTV you can get the same effect. Still, I wouldn't want to play Neverwinter Nights, Warcraft III, FFXI Online or Roller Coaster Tycoon on my PS2. The same things goes for console games. I'd rather play Madden 2004, Project Gotham 2 and ESPN NBA Basketball 2K4 on my XBox then on my PC.
To think that console games will completely take over PC games is ridiculous. There are just too many games out there that just don't play well on a console and look even worse. Yes console games have finally gone online with XBox Live and PS2 Network Adapter. It big business, but so are PC games like EQ (which actually have over 600,000 subscribers, not 100,000), FFXI, AC1, DAoC, AO and the many others coming out within the next year. Even the games that aren't online like Black & White 2, KOTOR, Hitman, FS 2004, Fable, Jade Empire etc.. will sell enough units to make a decent profit. So even though console games are far ahead of PC games now, don't expect PC games to fade away in 5-10 years, cause it's not going to happen.
