the one reason I wont be playing AoC.... ps3 button bashing idiots
  • LordcrapalotLordcrapalot Member Posts: 191

Hopefully the pc version and the consol version are being made separately. The last thing I want is an dumbed down mmo. I dont mind consol players being able to play pc players, but the devs better make the pc version so it functions like a pc game and not a consol game. I hate ported games.

Edit- why on earth are my lines two different colors? Then again that might just be browser:/

So instead of the PS3 button bashing idiots we gonna have 360 button bashing idiots........ whats the difference?

We can only pray they get to play in their own little world, well away from the PC servers.

Actually I dont mind playing with consol players. What I do mind is pc devs making pc games into dumbed down consol versions. But it appears that wont be the case this time as the dates are a year apart. But only time will tell.

Three words for you: IGN is Bullshitting

Age of Conan is NOT coming out on the PS3 at this time, Funcom says no, Eidos says no, every single person on the face of this planet that has a bloody clue about the issue says no. IGN is a third party company that has been getting facts about this and other games horribly wrong from the very beginning, it was a shock to me to see that they actually had the right release date for once.

Dudes! There is no such thing as restrictive console interface, there are only unimaginative, non-risk taking, stupid developer teams.

The hardware on the 360 and ps3 wouldnt dumb down the PC version unless you are playing with some psycho hardware worth thoudands. If you are: can you buy me one too?.

But seriously this wont be another case of FFXI where the PS2 was the cause of this game being so damned restrictive as far as content goes.

Yeah right, Microsoft has this game contractually locked and bolted down tight.

Microsoft has no contract that binds Funcom to only their console, if they so chose they could port it to anything they wanted. The fact however remains that the 360 is pretty much the only console capable of handling the kind of strain AoC is going to put on it, not to mention is a hell of a lot easier to code for.

Come on people, stop acting the fool. AoC is not going to the PS3. Unless somehow you think that IGN decides what consoles the game will go on and not Funcom? FC has deliberately stated that they are not developing for the PS3, so sit down, shut up, and forget about it. Eventually IGN will learn their mistake, hopefully soon before more people are fooled.

Well I say why not get your cha-ching from ps3 too?

I'd also like to see the Wii version, that way you could REALLY test out the new revolutionary "directional pad" fighting system via truly revolutionary (wiivonutionary I should say) Wiimote! How great would that be, huh?

Everyone needs to take FFXI as an example as to why NOT to release an MMO on a console...

I'm not saying AoC will be on a console but sooner or later the MMO will outdate the console and hold back the MMO.
  • whitedelightwhitedelight Member Posts: 1,544
IGN says PS3, and the official site for AoC states PC and 360 only. Which should you believe? Can't spell ignorant without I G N.

The game is currently being developed for Windows and Xbox 360.

believe its going to come out a year + from when the actual pc one launches... so nothing to worry about for now, i dont think they will dumb it down a year later to make new subscribers happy and make their old ones leave.... but who knows ;D

Yes, because FFXI isn't one of the most stable MMOs ever made...oh wait, it is.

Even with the limiting factors of the PS2 you ahve to understand that is not what held it back much technically, it was the average users access to higherspeed internet access through most of the user base combines with the average home computer in Japan at the time. Everyone has this image of every house in Japan having a highend computer, but that is inaccurate. Funny enough the PS2 could handle more than the minium PC requirements that FFXI was designed for.

Even now the average computer is technically far behind the current consoles. Games like WoW can get as many users as they have because nothing out of the ordinary is necessary to play the game. Consider EQ2 releasing lower polygon models with an asian flair to increase FPS on lower end (aka average) systems and the increase in player base very quickly after the change.

No, you shouldn't look at FFXI as an example of how AoC could go bad. For one MASSIVE reason. FFXI was a console game FIRST, and was then ported to the PC, with little change.

Age of Conan is a PC game FIRST, and will be ported, a year later, to the console.

This is Funcom were talking about. These guys are known for having some of the most mature, complex and deep games around. I highly doubt that AoC will be any different.

That depends on where you are from as well.

In the United States Final Fantasy XI came out on the PC on October 28, 2003.

In the United States Final Fantasy XI came out on the PS2 on March 23, 2004.

edit- to add that i understand that its coming out for x-box 360 and pc, not the ps3 (not like i care).
