Well, the 360 isn´t technically a console, but rather a windows pc in a black box.
Which is why I don't even bother with Xbox.... I allready got a computer. One which allready is better and which I can upgrade at will.
<~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ For a wounded man shall say to his assailant: "If I live, I will kill you, If I die, you are forgiven." Such is the Rule of Honor. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~>
Conan is a xbox360 exclusive title. The biggest prblem with the ps3 is it uses alinux based unicode, it would be extremely unlikely Funcom would waste the time on a dead console.
Dudes! There is no such thing as restrictive console interface, there are only unimaginative, non-risk taking, stupid developer teams.
I agree. The whole gameplay and/or UI having to be "dumbed down" suggestion is stupid. Players will learn quickly that if they don't have a keyboard, they'll be at a disadvantage, so they'll invest in one (both the 360 and the PS3 support the use of a keyboard and mouse).
A lot of mmorpg devs have said that they would like their games to infiltrate the console market, but due to limited resources, and their admitted lack of knowledge in developing for consoles (consoles are a different animal than PCs), most have just stuck with what they know. With AoC going to console, WAR likely to eventually go to console (saying WAR because their was a job posting at EA for a producer to bring the upcoming Warhammer mmorpg to console), and the rapidly growing console gamer base, I'd expect a lot more dev teams to follow the way of AoC, and get their games to multiple platforms. It only makes $ense.
lol thats the spirit, though they will probably kick your ass :-)
We, PC players, have TON of mmorpg's to pick from, so we are spread out.
Console players will be picking from FFXI Online or AoC, and thats it....meaning they will probably outnumber us, and quickly, just like they did over in FFXI (I was there, and I played on a PS2 and a PC, whichever one was not in use when I wanted to play).
Ironically, I found the PS2 interfact, with my Logitech Netplay controller to be far superior to the PC interface for FFXI. I actually bought a special adapter to allow me to use the controller I used on the PS2 with my Comp, it was pretty nice.
Mouse and keyboard are great for FPS or anything twitch, but for an mmorpg, 2 analog sticks were fricking great, and I could hook the PC up to my big-screen,. I wish more games would allow this kind of control options, without gimping it. Oh well.

ah but you forget all the extras we have. software to do all kinds of crap that no PS3 could hope to achieve...and our reflexes would no doubt be faster and things much less laggier. anyway i hardly think console people having the advantage of numbers is gonna do much. just means the people who are skilled enough to use a PC to its full extent will dominate the console players. i am all for em joining my game as long as they dont complain when they get pwned

Since the launch of the original x-box m$ has lost 4.7 billion US on its toy.Actually there was an artical recently showing how bad high end console sales were. The ps2 actually outsells the x-box 360 and ps-3 combined as of last month.
there wont be a ps3 version, sry only pc and xbox 360
pc release is set for 30, october 2007
and xbox somewhere in the mid of 2008
Truth and lies.
ps3 version, can you imagine microsoft letting playstations play with them? seriously no.
pc release is october 30 2007 (atm)
"mid of 2008" is very misleading, they've only said 2008. show me the evidence of "mid". most think it will be very early 2008, it wont take a year to cross platfrom it, they have people working on it now. it'll be jan or feb 2008.
Programmers hates just about everything that isn't easy to do and what do I care if they whine because they have to put some extra effort into making the game. And for graphics wise, I haven't seen that the X-box games looks far better than the PS3:s so you are just lying through your teeth, sure they have nice first person shooters but there are plenty of those for the PC. There will NEVER be a Final Fantasy game (there might be some cheap knock-offs from some small studio that Microsoft bribed into making a game for them) for the X-box and you can keep those first person shooters. I feel sorry for you because you are obviously sitting in your livingroom with your X-box and trying to convince yourself that you didn't spend all that money on it just to become your future dust bunny collector. And for gods sake, wake up people! Vista is just service pack 3 that never got released for Windows XP. Would I pay money for that? Hell no! (I'm not paying money for dx10 either) Quote from J.P. Barnaum "There's a sucker born every minute"
Everyone needs to take FFXI as an example as to why NOT to release an MMO on a console...
I'm not saying AoC will be on a console but sooner or later the MMO will outdate the console and hold back the MMO.
Yes, because FFXI isn't one of the most stable MMOs ever made...oh wait, it is.
Even with the limiting factors of the PS2 you ahve to understand that is not what held it back much technically, it was the average users access to higherspeed internet access through most of the user base combines with the average home computer in Japan at the time. Everyone has this image of every house in Japan having a highend computer, but that is inaccurate. Funny enough the PS2 could handle more than the minium PC requirements that FFXI was designed for.
Even now the average computer is technically far behind the current consoles. Games like WoW can get as many users as they have because nothing out of the ordinary is necessary to play the game. Consider EQ2 releasing lower polygon models with an asian flair to increase FPS on lower end (aka average) systems and the increase in player base very quickly after the change.
Actually the SOGA models that SOE released had higher polygon counts than the originals and they caused slowdown on lower end computers, so most players turned them off if they were suffering slowdown. The asian flair was so they could market the game at the asian market. Personally I prefer the SOGA models, I dont know why they dont use them in advertising. The old models look like mongaloids. Ogres looked better in the old models however, in the new models they look like Klingons.

I dont think making a port to 360 will numb down the game in any form. The 360 has enough power to make a lot of PCs look useless and if you look at it most MMOs have a 4-5 year lifespan or so (depending on how good it is) and the same goes for systems. When they develop systems they take into account the growth of technology as well. I think FC will be able to expand the game with lil trouble based off the 360. The PS3 version may never see the light of day but if it ever did it would be an issue for FC to code for. And as we know porting games is something which can be done right or terribly wrong. In the end you can never really have a 100% efficient port because of the adjustments in coding. The amount of changes needed for the PS3 would prob be too costly for FC to bother with anyway. Afterall the main market for their MMO is PCs, the fact that 360 is soo similar to PCs simply made it a convenient step to take to increase sales.
1: Console's are not ahead of PC's.....hell no, most peoples pc's are just not as good as the console. And you got to remember the console is specifically made for gaming....SLI two 8800 GTX Extreme's togeather and liquid cool them with a core2 duo quad core extreme edition and 8 gigs of ram with VIsta ultimate with DX 10...bet you any amount of money you cant beat that.
2: We are talking about f'in performance here....we are talking about controller vs keyboard and mouse......if it would come out on PS3, the whole game would have to adapt to the few buttons the controller has, but if you use a key board you got over 100 keys to work with to get the job down which would be better. If any game is based for console...they dumb down the game to make it so that people with controllers would have full content to the game while people on the computer are force to do that too, taking down the full potential of the whole game.
3: The last thing that is bad about going on consoles would be that any Player using a console might not be quick as a PC user. I am saying this because most likely you have to go through menues to get to the spell that you want then cast it while a pc user can just hit a hot key or click a button to activate it (Exept for warrior types, since you will have a new AWSOME kick ass system where you jsut slash at enemy's).
Bonus: This is going to be a VERY VERY GORY GAME...and guess what that means.....the little kiddies mommies wont buy the game for them and pay for it WOOOOOOT.....no more kids to wine at me....i hated WOW for that...
there wont be a ps3 version, sry only pc and xbox 360
pc release is set for 30, october 2007

So instead of the PS3 button bashing idiots we gonna have 360 button bashing idiots........ whats the difference?
We can only pray they get to play in their own little world, well away from the PC servers.
I love how "PC-gaming elitists" have this crazy assumption that all console gamers are drooling morons. MMOs do generally not interest the type of gamer that PClitists are so afraid of because they require too much actual thinking and time.
I also love the assumption that somehow, MMOs not having console versions will keep stupid and immature people out of games. Have you ever heard of WoW? That's not on a console, and there's no lack of morons and juvenile behavior in that game.
Get off your high horse.
It's about accessibility you fool. The reason why console gamers are generally perceived as childish is because just about anybody from any socio-economic class can one. In order to truly enjoy PC gaming one must spend enough money to AT LEAST buy a mid-level PC. This can be difficult or feel burdening to most people, coupled with the thought of upgrading just to play next years games at prefferable settings. With console games people feel they are getting more value for their money, which is more people tend to flock to consoles. WoW is a perfect example of popularity and accessibility bringing PC games to the masses. Anyone with an old ass PC can run WoW, hell i know someone that plays it with an integrated graphics card.
Can we please let this shrine to dumb rumors and general stupidity die already?
No, Age of Conan is not being developed for release on the PS3.
No, for various reasons it would not be a smart decision to make such a port
No, there currently are no overt plans to even consider such a move

No dx10 for X-box three-and-sixty?
Waaaaaaah!
I really pity those that payed money for something called the "X-box"
I mean, it just sounds so "Betamax" to me.

I agree that I hope the game is more PC oriented as far as mechanics and UI. FFXI is a good example of how I DON'T want AoC to play like. LoL.
But yeah it'd be cool for it to be on PS3, and X360....Means more players. Yay.

......are you
There's know way that they can get this game on a ps3 without completey ruining it. Xbox360 maybe but i'm sure that it wont be as fun.

heh,
No worries at the least, to use the PS3, hackers will find a way to port it through a PSP then to a Mac so they can then play using a Wii wand.

AGE OF CONAN IS NOT COMING OUT ON PS3, EVER!

Btw the link now shows that the PS3 version statement was all a mistake so its a moot point.
As for the 360 version and dumbing down, If you look at the dev journal movies that show the game, its pretty much set up for console verion already.

Pfft, that game is Final Fantasy in name only.
You X-box players can knock yourselves out with that one.
