It is staded directly on their OFFICIAL SITE that it is being made for the PC and the 360, no ps3.

Since FC already did the whole flagship vista game thing and went gung ho for microsoft, the 360 thing is basically a gimme. I am positive it is not because ps3 is less powerful because ps3 is in fact better hardware wise than the 360, I still like my 360 tho lol.... better games have come out.....  but i cant see funcom doing anything other than 360 right now console wise since they are on the microsoft bandwagon as of now.... down the road, who knows if there will be a ps3 version, but as of now its looking 360 and pc all the way.

I would also like to see some keyboard/ mouse support on the 360 when this motha comes out because my pc is definately not going to be able to handle it., and typing with a joystick and an A button is not entertaining at all.

p.s. i think i read somewhere that there was going to be mic support for groups and stuff like that, not sure if thats true any more though.

I like how people base all of their opinions on this game on FFXI.

There is a keyboard coming out for all 360 controllers in may btw.

I think that FFXI is a great example of why you SHOULD release mmos on console.  Its a great mmorpg that has an excellent story line, great quest content, a good community with the exception of all the RMTs and cheaters (they've been getting banned by the thousands lately).  The UI is unique, unlike the same old UI you find in every other game, and is my favorite of any  mmo I've played (used keyboard and PS2 controller).   Above all though, its fun to play.  When the 360 version was released, the sub numbers jumped up a lot, and you could see how the new player influx  really breathed new life into the game's world.  Last I checked, it still had over 500k active players, and over 2100 voters have ranked it an average of 8.2 - one of the highest rankings on this site's game list.  To each his own I guess...

The 360, while lacking much upgradeability, is still a more powerful gaming machine than most of PCs out there today, and it will have no problem running this game.  The PS3 hardware packs even more power than the 360 so it could probably run this game just as well, if not better, but I doubt Microsoft would allow it's Vista dx10 flagship title to go Sony's way without a fight.  The only reason  this game's gameplay would suffer by being ported to any console would be that the developers didn't prepare, or didn't learn the architecture of the console(s) well enough to port their game smoothly.  The Hardware resources are there in abundance, but do the devs have the knowledge and ability?

    Peace!

So instead of the PS3 button bashing idiots we gonna have 360 button bashing idiots........ whats the difference?

We can only pray they get to play in their own little world, well away from the PC servers.

I love how "PC-gaming elitists" have this crazy assumption that all console gamers are drooling morons. MMOs do generally not interest the type of gamer that PClitists are so afraid of because they require too much actual thinking and time.

I also love the assumption that somehow, MMOs not having console versions will keep stupid and immature people out of games. Have you ever heard of WoW? That's not on a console, and there's no lack of morons and juvenile behavior in that game.

Get off your high horse. Here here.  All pvp in WoW consists of is button mashing. IF you can button mash in a game and your a melee character  whether your on and xbox or a pc your gonna be button mashing.

I don't think that the X-box players will share servers with the PC players.

Hmm, anyone accessing this site with their X-box?

  • KremlikKremlik Member UncommonPosts: 716

I also agree it's highly doughtful that the 360 and PC will share servers as AoC uses DX9, because if they did M$ would try and tie it to Games for Windows Live thus requiring Vista THUS using only DX10.. an't gonna happen..

Sad part is it's likly to be heavily wieghed towards the 360 playerbase as practally everyone can get their mitts on a 360 or own one and not a topend-ish pc, leaving tthose poor pc users on what could be a barren server, then again it could be the other way around,, who knows

    Bring on the WARRRRGGHH!

I think AoC will sell well on the 360 at first...

Then will come the flood of morons that didn't know there was a subscription fee for access to the post-level 20 content.

Then you'll have the first-time MMOers that either don't have or don't want to dedicate the time an MMO requires and/or don't like the idea of constant competition to be the "best"...and sadly, won't realize these things until they actually play the game.

After a month or two, you will likely see a significant drop in the number of people playing on 360s.

The new version of teamspeak supports ms gamevoice,so pc players can talk with xboxers on ts,also xbox has the ability to run dx 9 and 10.  so im not really sure why its that bad of a thing to game with x-boxers.

Far as I know, Funcom has NOT annouced it for the PS3 at all.  I have doubts that they will also.  If you know anything about consoles you would have heard how hard the graphics system for the PS3 system is to code.

Microsoft has no contract that binds Funcom to only their console, if they so chose they could port it to anything they wanted. The fact however remains that the 360 is pretty much the only console capable of handling the kind of strain AoC is going to put on it, not to mention is a hell of a lot easier to code for. This is BS the PS3 has way more power and ability then the X-Box why lie ? The code part is true tho :)

Still fanboyz off all types i guess ... ps im an old school rpger , have not cared for an rpg after xenogears and fft and valk profile.... Tho i have played alot ...

edit- to add that i understand that its coming out for x-box 360 and pc, not the ps3 (not like i care). I love how people still haven't realized that the xbox 360 does indeed have more power overall than the playstation 3.  The ps3 processor may have more power on paper, however coding for it is a nightmare.  It has 8 SPEs, one of which is disabled during manufacturing, and another which is dedicated to the OS strictly.  This leaves six, single threaded, processor like pieces of hardware to handle games.  The xbox 360 has a symetrical, three core processor, each core being multithreaded.  So they are basically even, however the playstation three's cell is much more difficult to program for.  Also, the graphics card in the xbox 360 with its daughter die and modified version of directx 9 blows the graphics card in the playstation 3 out of the water due to it's unified shader design.  The playstation 3 is more a home entertainment media package than a gaming machine when compared to the xbox 360.  So the console with the overall most power is also much easier to program for and needless to say, has better online support.  I wish people would do some research, honestly.

Your X-box is my toaster  (great slogan for a t-shirt)

I sure don't beleave your talk about one CPU core being disabled during manufacture and so what if one core is purely dedicated to the OS, it's not exactly a bad thing is it?!

Only eight CPU cores left for gaming, how will they manage?!

(p.s. the PS3:s CPU has nine (9) cores, get your facts straight next time or stay off the internet)

Sony does what Microsoft doesn't.    (giving you a great gaming experience)

The PS3 is inferior to the xbox, in just about every aspect.  The programmers HATE it.  Just google PS3 coding and you will get an earfull of complaints about the system from the guys that write the code.

The graphics system is not as good as the xbox and far harder to code for.  As good as the ps2 design was, the ps3 design is exactly the opposite.  I am no Microsoft fan, but I would not recommend a PS3 to anyone when all the better games will be on the xbox.

So if you use the xbox for a toaster, does that mean the ps3 is your toilet?

At least Kade had a good idea what he was talking about, as for you.......

I dont think they will dumb the game down either but then again who knows what will happen anymore with these companies.

Programmers hates just about everything that isn't easy to do and what do I care if they whine because they have to put some extra effort into making the game.

And for graphics wise, I haven't seen that the X-box games looks far better than the PS3:s so you are just lying through your teeth, sure they have nice first person shooters but there are plenty of those for the PC.

There will NEVER be a Final Fantasy game (there might be some cheap knock-offs from some small studio that Microsoft bribed into making a game for them) for the X-box and you can keep those first person shooters.

I feel sorry for you because you are obviously sitting in your livingroom with your X-box and trying to convince yourself that you didn't spend all that money on it just to become your future dust bunny collector.

And for gods sake, wake up people!

Vista is just service pack 3 that never got released for Windows XP.

Would I pay money for that?

    Hell no!

(I'm not paying money for dx10 either)

That part is bullshit, The PS3 got superior CPU than the 360, the 360 got a superior GFX, one that can handle DX 10, PS3's GFX can NOT handle DX10.

For all of you afraid or to high and mighty to face your foes on the Xbox, and rants about "I'm not gonna play this game if I have to play against stoopid console users duuuuhdiduuuuuuuh!"  , take some time and do alittle search on their forums.

I found this after 2 mins and a search at the AoC forums:

"There will also be servers dedicated to only PC or console players available to join."

Stop wasting your time whinging on wannabe PC-players (aka Xbox-players) and get yer arses right from the beginning.

    Ok?

    Thanks.

Ps. I'll be on the PC servers most prolly ;) Ds.

I'm sorry, but I honestly can't let such ignorance pass.  You told me to get my facts straight, or stay off the internet after an obvious falsehood regarding the number of cores the playstation 3 cell broadband engine has.  You say nine, however on the PLAYSTATION THREE OFFICIAL WEBSITE as linked here it clearly states that the cell broadband engine has up to EIGHT SPEs.  Also, as for you not "beleave"ing my talk about one core being disabled during manufacture, perhaps you haven't done your homework YET AGAIN.  As stated in the free encyclopedia, wikipedia that it has six accessable SPEs, a seventh dedicated strictly to the operating system, and one disabled during manufacture.  This equals, yet again EIGHT.  So Sit down and be quiet and let the grown ups do the talking.
  • AmalaricAmalaric Member Posts: 480

One (1) Power Processing Element plus eight (8) Synergistic Processing Elements equals what?!

    Nine (9) maybe?!

And I have always talked about how many cores the CPU of the PS3 has in case you got a bit confused.

Reading comprehension is your friend and thank you for correcting my spelling and/or grammar, I'm sure that I can count on you in the future.
