yeah that info is pretty old. I doubt that Vanguard has 35k left at this time. Sales of retail boxes have pretty much stopped and with the successful launch of LOTRO the mass exodus is only gaining momentum. Vanguard will be dead before the end of the year. Feel free to quote me on that.
Show me facts, not BS.
But wait let me guess VG wrong you, didnt make a game for you personaly. Now you feel you need to act upon this evil, hail VG the evil DEVs. How dare you make a game not meant for me. You guys crack me up, lol.
1) We cannot show you facts because Brad himself won't release any, why won't he do that? Your guess is as good as mine but my brain is telling me if the subscription numbers were even half decent he would have shown them by now.
2) VG promised the sun and the moon, they gave us an un-innovative bug filled game to put it bluntly. You might not feel the same but most people arn't going to bother leaving their current mmo for one that fails to do anything out of the ordinary and on top of that has performance and bugs issues that are worse for some and null for others.
If you think VG will survive and gain more players in the coming months then I think you are very optimistic.
!: How much do your earn? oh wait thats none of my business. Exaclty. Why would a company want to tell people how much money its making.
Yarisagos, you are the biggest liar on these forums: Why? Because I'm running a system that has 2 gigs of ram, an AMD 4200+ and a 6800, which was almost top of the line 2 years ago and I still can't play the game that well on optimized graphics.
What is optimized? LOD rendering and view distance are very close to the minimum. while the texture quality is set to high (barely affected my fps). The game hitches so much when you approach new content that it's not even funny: The problem is that the character models use too many polygons compared to other games, so that when you approach a new character it loads a ton of files from the harddrive (which is MUCH slower than ram).
AFTER the content has been loaded, the game runs BARELY OK (if you consider getting 1/3-1/2 the FPS Of LOTRO and 1/4th the FPS of WoW OK) , but in comparison to other games on the market it's still the worst (although I've heard that DnL runs horribly too).
I quit, because I could no longer tolerate the chronic hitching (which is a recognized issue by Sigil btw) and the fear of crashing to desktop that EVERY Vanguard player has experienced. If you haven't CTDed yet, then you're the biggest fraud on these forums, or you're running the game on highest performance with no LOD (and have somehow modified your game). Most people don't like to play a game where you have to spam /flush every 30 seconds.
The game also is lacking in content compared to other games: The game starts out with lots of beginner content (1-20), but then runs out of solo content almost completely on Qalia and thins it out on Thestra (although you can conceivably solo to around 25-27 with no problem exclusively on Thestra).
In games like WoW and LOTRO, the content is very thick, so thick in fact that you never even have to go out of your way to get content (like in VG), but you can if you so choose.
The third biggest issue is the complete lack of character customization with most classes: I don't mean appearance, but skill-wise. The attributes given to everybody are completely nonsensical, since there is only ever one optimal choice for each race/class combination. Many people, however, consider this a moot point since there are so many classes in Vanguard.
I quit because of the aforementioned issues and most people quit because of the aforementioned issues minus the character customization issue.
The gameplay, ambiance and the material itself (although a lot of people found it lackluster) is great imho. It just needs more content and a performance change to vie with the big boys.
VG still has a lot of potential, but it is not worth paying 15$ a month in it's current state.
This is a sequence of characters intended to produce some profound mental effect, but it has failed.
if sigil could charge .01 dollars for each post regarding vg, it would be the most successful company ever. i cannot believe the hype that vg has. i am starting to believe that many of the vg haters are employed to do this job.
i find the game great, with no competitor at this time. wow sucks and is on the decline (the server some of my collegues play used to be full, now is "recommended" + everyone I know in wow is looking for a new game), lotro is the shallowest and smallest mmo ever made (omg the game design must have lasted 5 minutes), AOC and WAR look promising but are 10+months away. eve is nice but completely different style. the bugs are getting fixed at an amazing rate and the game now plays smooth with full detail on my mid-upper class pc.
furthermore, on my server the population is on the rise during the last 2 weeks. i check the social menu every day on different hours. more and more ppl are on the newb zones. If you ask me, i would not want vg to become like lotro or wow where on any given quest mob there is a queue of 100000 ppl waiting to kill it. i prefer relatively low population on a server than this stupid situation. VG gives the feel of a real world more than any other game.
btw 35k is closer to the max concurrent online that the total active subs. these should be well over 100k. they sold 250k boxes. most of them still have the free month which means an active subscription. even if they have cancelled, their subscription is considered active till the end of the month. 35k? no way!
So "The War on VG" carries on, maintaining the hype about the game and helping it stay on the top position of everyones "mmos to be tried" list. Thanks community (or should i say Turbine and co.)
With well over 150K box sales, and tons more D2D downloads, there's no way this game is at 35k subscribers. Get a fricken clue. Everyone thinks Vanguard is dead, and I don't get it. Why is there so much hate for this game ? It's a very good game, and finally didn't follow WoW (isn't that what most of us have wanted all along?) Man, I expect this kind of hate for WoW, but not poor Vanguard.
Tons more of D2D downloads? I doubt D2D even represents 10% of overall sales. And yes with 150k sales (which Brad quoted and probably includes D2D because it would be a "virtual box") a game can be down to 35k subs already. DDO sold over 300k boxes if I remember right and they are supposedly only around 80k subs. Horizons sold 80k boxes and are at about 10k subs.
Why is it ok to have this kind of hate for WoW a very well done game and a popular one. But not for a game like Vanguard which the general gamer opinion says it stinks?
they sold 250k boxes.
Where did you get that number? Last Brad posted said it was 150k closing in on 200k.
AOC and WAR look promising but are 10+months away.
Not that it matters, but AoC is actually about 6 months off, and not 10+. Many folks reported from the RPC in Germany last week, that they found out that the game is actually fairly near completion, from a content persepctive. Quests, mobs, and classes, and the next 6 months will be spent polishing, and really optimizing the client. It's already taken a move back once, I'm actually expecting Funcom to hit their release date.
Lesson from the Vanguard release? Acutally spend time optimizing and polishing so you can put out the best product possible? If so, it's a good thing for gamers.

Dont be so sure that you are going to play AoC in 5 months. Experience shows that most of the times game releases are delayed. A recent example is WAR which was delayed.
We moan our love ones for 3 days ? How many days you guys need to moan for a game you hate? You know how stupid and dumb you guys sound, trying to justify your trolling in our forums? Get over it, the game wasnt meant for you and your $500 Circuit City computer, life goes on after your break up with VG, lol.
Oh... so now you're in full-blown presumption mode. "If you don't like the game, you must have a cheap computer".
Ooooookay...
You sound like a guy in another forum who feels anyone who posts a negative comment about that game obviously didn't play the game long enough. Another ridiculous point-of-view.
What it boils down to with you and he is that you both obviously can't accept that many, many people simply do not like the game in question and you both try, with your own tactics, to dismiss their opinions. If people want to continue posting their opinions to forums for a game weeks, even months after they stop playing it... you know what.. it's their prerogative and does not require yours or anyone else's "approval" to do so. These are open forums. Everyone's free to post what they wish. Maybe you're the one who needs to get over it and accept that people are sometimes going to post things you don't like reading? Move on and don't read those posts.

I have no problems running the game, that all I can say. Everything what you have said I do not have a problem with.
BTW your computer is very close to the $500 Circuit City Computer, except for the video card, but its still $100 video card, that crap was never top end, lol.
I can not go and see whats wrong with your computer. If you like, I start a thread and you guys can post all your hardware and I can tell you whats needs to be replace or remove. Please dont tell me you have vista running too, lol.
Again player clueless about there computers, you just have old junk.

Again your clueless. The top reason for VGs troll like yourself is;
1) You have a $500 Circuit City Computer.
2) The game was not design for you, its not WOW.
Read it, understand it, life goes on with out VG, you can do it.

Finally someone that has some sense. Your right no one knows the numbers. We can only guess.
But the only thing that I know. I play at 1900 x 1200 with np, and I love how the game is made, and I am sure I am not alone.
What I dont understand why do players that do not like VG, do no move on? Why is VG so personal for them?
Are they really that mad, that a company had the balls to make a game not meant for them? or not to be run with a $500 Circuit City computer?
This game runs fine with my 3 year old computer, yes it was the best of the best back then.
I gotta step in and comment on this whole refrain of "a game wasn't made meant for them".
Why do you need to make it such a personal and condescending point-of-view? Perhaps people had high-hopes for the game, were eager to play and enjoy it and found that it didn't live up to their expectations - which, by what I've seen, seems to be the case for many people. It's not so ego-centric a scenario as you try to paint it - people spent time and ultimately money following and buying a game that really did make some very very very big promises. Brad had been touting it as the "end all to MMOs" and for many, it's fallen far short of that.
It seems that VG's numbers are not as healthy as would have been expected, given the pre-launch hype and, in the post-WoW mmo scene, a new MMO coming out has really got to put up some huge numbers to make waves. VG doesnt' seem to be doing that. So perhaps people' s disdain for the game is justified.
Maybe you need to just learn to accept that some people simply are greatly disappointed with the game and are voicing as such?
You do have to conceed that many of the VG haters are people who VG experience sucked because that thought they were going to play Vanguard with their crappy machines. In almost EVERY case of someone trying to bring VG to their knees, stems from the fact their dilusional and think their $500 computer can play WoW, it can play Vanguard.
It's no "newsflash" that VG requires a robust computer.... but still these degenrates didn't bother saving or upgrading their systems for VG.
I have 7 RL buddies who play VG. 2 of them stopped because their systems were pethetic. Yet, when they come over to my house and saw VG on my machine they get all interested in VG again. One of them ordered a 8800GTS 640MB ($370) that day!! None of them use the default UI either after seeing the one I use (Parmon's Boxed). That was the game breakwer for 1 of hem, the icky UI.
Point is, my machine would cost $700 to build today. And those who bash Vanguard rarely do so from a gameworld aspect. Their just mad at the fact they can't enjoy VG as much as they expected. But, you do have to remember it's the 4th month of 2007. Hardware is getting cheaper and cheaper and VG is getting better and better. By October even the paperboy can invest in a modern computer and enjoy the eyecandy that so many younger people need..!
As for thsoe who refute me. What promise did Sigil miss..? What are YOUR dissapointments with VG..? C'mon, don't just bash the game, get meaty and LIST your argeuments. Chances are, they arnt valid!

1. Diplomacy classes.
2. Functional Boats.
3. Berserker class
That's off the top of my head without any thought at all.
You hardware elitists are a breed of your own. If you truly think VG failed solely because of it's hardware requirements, then you're living in two fantasy worlds; the world of Telon, and you're own universe....
Waiting for something fresh to arrive on the MMO scene...

Your response makes no sense.
1.) Diplomacy works. And it's an awsome way to explore the world and garner respsect. Ever seen some high-level diplomate. Their clothing is awsome... and to be able to opens doors we cant.... aswome!
2.) Whats wrong with the boats..? I spent a few hours on my guildee's the other night exploring islands. What exactly isn't functioning on boats. Did you think I wasn't ging to respond and ask questions or challenge your obviously ignorant suggestions that these things don't work..?
3) Beserker Class was removed from the Game over 2 years ago. It isn't a current game issue.
Matter-of-fact, the things you listed arnt a game issues. Your not playing Vg because they removed a class from the game in early beta..?
I don't know why people think everyone has a 500 pc if they are playing VG My rig has dual core P. 4 gigs of ram 2 8800 GTX video cards. My problem with VG is that it don't seem to be fun right now and I can't really find anyone to group with on my server at this time. but I still think the game it self is ok and I'll give it a chance ,and if I still don't like it I'll just simply move on to another game with know hard feelings.

What do you expect from SOE controlled game. I feel bad that SIgil had to sell their game to SOE. SOE reputation of buying troubled MMOs and release them before they are ready for quick profit is really starting to piss people off.

As anybody knows, SOE was hired by Sigil to market Vanguard and house the game servers. No matter what you say or think, thats the truth.

Ok so you just proved that the magazine reviewed Vanguard by google.com ?
haha seen this coming worst launch in history of any game ever made.
Wow, can you be that stupid? The worst release of all time? Try SWG, or that WWII MMO. Those both had catastrophic releases. And at least Vanguard moved fast to patch the holes, now its pretty much fine to play. SWG was never quite fixed.

you vangaurd fans gotta realize the game is one of the worst games on the market, atleast the SWG was fun at release, i dont think this game will ever recover from that, and vangaurd isnt pretty much fine to play i still have my account open and log on occasionally. so dont kid your self and think its fixed...dumbass

LOL...
You read that Mag? Have you EVER heard of the guy who did that review? He's not even listed in the Mag's editor list and is an ignorant retard that decided to bash a game he didn't even test thoughoughly. His post was based on gossip. I'd like him to name a game SOE has bought within the last 5 years? WTF are they talking about..?
Yes, that statment is an outright LIE! And your perpatrating it.

Where did you get that number? Last Brad posted said it was 150k closing in on 200k.
haha seen this coming worst launch in history of any game ever made.

Oh... so now you're in full-blown presumption mode.
Move on and don't read those posts.
and the cash shop selling asphalt..." - Mimzel on F2P/Cash Shops
I have no problems running the game, that all I can say. Everything what you have said I do not have a problem with.
BTW your computer is very close to the $500 Circuit City Computer, except for the video card, but its still $100 video card, that crap was never top end, lol.
I can not go and see whats wrong with your computer. If you like, I start a thread and you guys can post all your hardware and I can tell you whats needs to be replace or remove. Please dont tell me you have vista running too, lol.
Again player clueless about there computers, you just have old junk.

1) You have a $500 Circuit City Computer.
2) The game was not design for you, its not WOW.
Read it, understand it, life goes on with out VG, you can do it.
Finally someone that has some sense. Your right no one knows the numbers. We can only guess. If you think VG will survive and gain more players in the coming months then I think you are very optimistic.

Because most do, and not know it.

You dont have to take my word for let me just say this and citation from Game for Windows Magazine Issue 06 MAy 2007 page 75.
Vanguard: Saga Of Heroes (review)
"SOE's increasingly routine practive of buying troubled MMOs and hustling them out to turn some kind of profit ASAP may arguably have rescued Vanguard from oblivion-- but it resulted in a game that desperately needed another six months of beta testing"

Ok so you just proved that the magazine reviewed Vanguard by google.com ?
I'm so broke. I can't even pay attention.
"You have the right not to be killed"
Wow, can you be that stupid? The worst release of all time? Try SWG, or that WWII MMO. Those both had catastrophic releases. And at least Vanguard moved fast to patch the holes, now its pretty much fine to play. SWG was never quite fixed.
Darkfall Travelogues!

you vangaurd fans gotta realize the game is one of the worst games on the market, atleast the SWG was fun at release, i dont think this game will ever recover from that, and vangaurd isnt pretty much fine to play i still have my account open and log on occasionally. so dont kid your self and think its fixed...dumbass

You are subscribing to game you dislike, and you are also calling other people dumbasses. I'll grab the bait with hook and all.
I think your lying both left to right and upside down.
