So you consider yourself "hardcore"? And the only game in the history of MMOs you can come up with as an example is WoW? Out of all the MMOs that has existed in history.. the only one in your head, in your vast "hardcore" knowledge base.. is WoW?
Yeah, I feel real noobish now. You are one hardcore player! Wevvy Hardcore.... Here, have some rasperries.
"This is not a game to be tossed aside lightly. It should be thrown with great force"
The reason its dying is because most people don't have the computer that is able to run it. I mean i just bought a new PC (2.13 dual core, 2 gigs of ram with a geforce 7300) and I can't even run the damn game.
Only good thing about Vanguard is that it will teach developers that people don't want to have to upgrade a ton for a new game. people may add more ram or update thier video card a bit. but many don't have thousands of dollars to buy a brand new system.
I wanted to give this game a try so when it dropped to $40 I said what the hell ill give it a try. I tried to like it I honestly did I found myself playing it just to hope it would get intresting after just one week I asked myself" am i having any fun?" and the answer was no, but thats just me. not hating on it just telling everyone exaclty how it went down.

No offense, but the geforce 7300 is terrible. Can't even consider it midrange by today's standards.
Before any graphics purchase, I'd recommend this website to see the general performance benchmarks with a variety of games:
I was told it was a "next-gen MMO" in the tradition of EQ, with strenths pulled from other sucessful MMOs, and a haven for RP. I invested in a high end computer to play it, spent money on the copy, extra for subs...
What I got was:
No or stupid animations
Next to no /emote sounds/animations
Stupified crafting
Card-game 'diplomacy'
Big ass world not populated with anything
Travel times and routs that were just retarded
Boring ass environments
No collective areas for the populations to gather
but most of all..
They began down the path of making the game dumbed down for the "omg iv been plyn 4 3 hours & i'm not 50 yet!!!" MO-Tards.
That's why I /q
Your a lier.. Plain and simple.
No animation..? R u sure..? THAT alone proves you didn't play Vanguard. The character animations in vanguard are incredible, to simply just watch a Monk fight in combat is worthy of a video in-and-of-itself..! Have no idea wtf your talking about, but's it's laughable. Name a game that has better animations, PLZ...!
No Emotes..? Really...? Ha ha mwaaahaaa
Big world, not populated...? Pick a spot on the map and point an arrow. I will go to that spot and take a Screenshot.
Diplomacy.! Yes, it's an aspect no other game has ever had. A high-level diplomate can open doors a lvl 50 Adventurer cannot. They can enter Emporer or Kings chambers and open the "knowledge" of Telon. Ever play Magic the gathering..?
Travel times and routes..? Well, at lvl 10 you can easily affors a +30% speed mount, and as you level up you can sell and buy faster horses. When you get into your thirties there are quest for Hellhounds and Unicorns that have +70% travel speed. You can also use your boat to travel to faraway dungeons or area pretty quickly. You can also recall back to you Bind point, House and Guildhall. Additionally, there is a netword of portals that allow for quicker travel. Your a louse... and a lier!
Boring environement..? Thats subjective, but everywhere you turn there is something hudden in rocks or in a foggy valley. People get so side-tracked because they keep running into "nifty" hidden content.
No collective areas..? There are towns and outposts everwhere. Certain areas are hotspot due to the quest lines in the area. Goto Celestrial Ward or Southwatch. Those places are in the middle of nowhere, but extremely packed.
Please, if you don't like the game for personal reasons, such as the art style or the more sophisticated combat, then just admit that and move on. But commig here spewing hatrid and lies makes you one thing.... It's not an Ogre

. Youre kidding me, right? Dont tell me the way the characters move is considered normal to you? Theyre frikking handpuppets, struggling along while their master tries to unravel the strings attached to their limbs. Have you tried a dwarf? Theyre the worst. And naming a game that has better animations? Dude......ANY game has better ones. LOTRO for starters. Heck, even WoW. Atleast there they feel a lot more natural and comfortable.

Yes, I have. The dwarve a stumpy creatures and are NOT nimble like the fluent Elves. Did you watch LOTR and see how the dwarves walked or ran in the movie. Thus, in Vanguard they don't have the stride or gate as a HUMAN, because they arn't HUMAN.
I really don't understand what the poster is trying to say but the game is dying, proof of this is in the pudding ,Brad making a official apology for the state of the game, Seerver planned consolidation (this game is barren as hell to be new) and pretty much a EQ dynamic given a new face and called "Vanguard". This game as someone said promised the moon,Sun and stars and delivered a plethora of "grind your ass off" dynamics, It is not sensible, it is not hardcore (is there such a thing) it is just stupid as hell.
This is a game people you don't get real life points for grinding until your eyeballs are numb and for Sigil +Brad to think that it would be fun to "Pre SWG Jedi" grind 5million bugbears to level 30 and 5 million more Wyverns to level 40 was pretty damn dumb, people are not stupid nowadays and can pretty much spend there time elsewhere (in a game that actually provides fun and not harder work than RL).
For those that enjoy the mindless grind to level 50 in hopes of them putting in RAID content more power to you but as it stands now Vanguard a potentially good game doesn't live up to it's hype it was given by its' creators.

*dee dee dee* Get a clue..!
Good god......I watched LOTR, I play LOTRO. It feels natural how they walk. They dont in vanguard. I'm not comparing them to humans, I never said I did. Nor are they elves (gah). Theyre dwarves (or Dwarfs, whatever you prefer).
Zvorak, my apologies. I just stumbled upon your other posts, and its obvious youre a vanguard fanboy, pretty much spitting on anyone disagreeing that Vanguard is in fact NOT the holy grail. I shall now discontinue my efforts of discussing anything with you.
P.S.: Could you stop using huge screenshots in your sig?

and you just basically proved my point with your attack on my PC. Many people arent going to shell out that kind of money to upgrade to a top end PC just so they can play this game. And im not calling it a gaming rig ... and thats my point you want your game to succeed you better make it playable on "computers" not JUST "gaming rigs".
This is the biggest thing holding back the success of Vanguard. Even if there were not performance issues. Even if all the bugs were worked out. Even if the content was filled in. Even if the "potential" was reached. . . Vanguard likely would not be any fun. That's the problem. The game is not fun.
You mean even if they 'fix' the game to suit your need, whatever it is. You will define it as booring. Even if they do this I say I rather like that. And if they change I'll say I like this.
It would have been shorter to say I refuse to like the game nomatter what, and thus being honest on your position.
Not what I meant at all.
My point is very simple. At its core, Vanguard is simply not very fun. At least to me it isn't. Again, I say at its core. This means that if everything was super-polished, with complete content and performance issues/bugs fixed . . Vanguard would still be a core game that isn't very fun.
I won't say that "I refuse to like the game no matter what". If they make the game FUN, of course I will like it. What I am saying is that there is very little chance that they could take this game and make it fun. I hope Vanguard proves me wrong. I really do. But at this point, I just don't see this game ever being fun.
This game is done, Brad MCquaid is an idiot for thinking he could rehash the exact same thing and succeed. WTF is wrong with developers now a days, they think they can release an Alpha product and have the customer pay a monthly fee to beta test a game for 2 years.
As if that was not bad enough, I mean seriously if you are going to make a carebear game then make it CAREBEAR, you don't need a death penelty in a PVE game lol; whoever came up with corpse runs and loss of exp for getting killed by a mob is a total idiot. Another idiotic feature is grinding, games are supposed to be fun WTF is the point of killing 12000 of the same mobs and waiting a week before you level? It seems that these idiots just added these features to make us gamers play longer so that they could have that extra $15 a month.
Brad is a jackass, there are no Hardcore PVE games; the Term Hardcore should not even apply to a pve game; killing a mob over and over again is not Hardcore it does not take skill to learn the scripted AI and kill it over and over again.
Good thing this game is a failure, and I am enjoying watching the 35 million dollar sinking ship that Vanguard has become.

Look here you little pigf**ker! You calling me out? I PLAYED THE F'IN game, I spent my MONEY on that game, I even subbed for 3 Mo. block because I had "faith". So let me explain something you little vanboi.
I am a HARDCORE gamer, I LOVE death penalties! I think stupid should hurt (which might be bad for you). The Animations are laughable, slow, stupid looking (for several classes, not all). They look like stick figures trying to dance or something.
And yes, the /emotes, what there are, ARE NOTHING COMPARED TO WOW. Not even EQ2. The DANCE looks like some f**gotyassed hoola-dance.
I explored the world from top to bottom, I can show you plenty of places where there is NOTHING...NOTHING!!
Diplo: No, I did not and will not play some card game with 12year olds. I would expect Diplo to have more tact than card switching. I don't mind a card game in an MMO, but make it available for PvP mode, and gamble or something.
The boring environment is what I see while riding across 10,000 miles with a few snakes, dogs, and some clan of something that has no lore basis to it.
Collective areas, YEA, like 300 of them, so spread out that if you want to meet up with your friends you spend an hour to get there. There is such a thing as TOO spread out.
In closing, you little skumsucker, don't come in a thread that is an honest disc about why folks left and cause drama, and I will stay out of your VG-love threads...ok?
You know, Zvorak- coming in here and posting those butt-ugly screenshots isn't winning Vanguard any fans. It looks about like EQ1 with the mannequin corpse character models from EQ2. Do yourself a favor and stop posting before you keep those 30K active players from gaining any more.
You can't reason with these Brad Mcquaid wannabes, they believe that their game is the BEST thing on the planet earth right now even when their game resemebles a plane hyjacked by terrorists.
to the op who started this new thread ... well you said that you will praise anyone who can prove you wrong well..
let me start out im a dedicated eq 2 fan and i was in beta and today a full time player of eq2. Now i have bought and tried vanguard and found it horrible... reasond animations and sigil a man who helped with and maybe created eq came up with this vanguard game is sad...... its not worth in my opinion 15 a month and shame on soe hosting this crap of a game. Next i have bought LOTR and it's polished well thought out and for god sakes its made by TURBINE and they are not the greatest makers of game.
In all truth vanguard would of been better if it was still in beta and being worked out and crap on sigil saying about money problems .. he is in with soe and they could of help fund it there is no excuse for sigil...... Look at warhammer online now moved back to 2008
Next game sigil makes i will wait before i jump again (PRAISE EQ 2 AND LOTR ) THEY KNOW WHAT THEY WERE DOING THERE!
Yeah, right. I left because I'm just too soft. I guess those 3 years in EQ turned me into a noob.
You're wrong. Period. Most people have left because a) the game is bad, and b) the community is full of elitist idiots. I personally left for a few reasons: Outside of the wood elf city, the game looks like ass. The animations are terrible. The lore was written and determined by a very slow 3rd grader, apparently. Combat and crafting are painful, slow timesinks. Diplomacy is the dumbest thing I've ever seen. And to top it all off, the engine is a complete pile of filth. Vanguard does nothing new, and aside from playing Go Fish with a mannequin, has nothing to offer that half a dozen or more other games don't do much, much better. Now- toddle off and be hardcore in your empty, boring, broken game, OK? Have fun.
This guys said it best...i left for the same reason....weak game...seeya you all in lotro haha
Seriously my stomache is hurting! Read this to the guild and we laughed for over 5 minutes on that one
People are allowed to leave. Nothing wrong there. As for me, i'm having fun.
I like the style of VG. His gameplay reminds me of EQ (group combat)..
It's moving... they add quests (diplo and adv) in every patches, they now have a portal system. VG was released to early and it did it`s damage. The cool thing about VG is that it will always be there.... When people are done with WoW and or LOTRO, they will give VG a shot (at this point, VG should have trials). AoC and WAR are different because they are more PVP oriented games IMO. People looking for PvE content will then turn themselves to VG.
As of now, you can do more in VG then you can do in LOTRO. Way more content.
woah back up there...if a bigger more empty world is what you call "more content" then lets all stop and think about what we are saying...i guess VG is the place to be after all...pffft...sure if ur having fun then go hard...but everyone else and myself know that VG wont last too long...or it will become a broken down game like some other games that are involved with SOE that i dont care to mention. Vanbois who want to be all high and mighty and stick up for their little empty game (like that one dude who puts up crappy pics for a sig) think that we really care....just go play ur little game....LOTR has WAYYYYY more content...better world to be in...better story...i played LOTR beta alot and really liked it...i played VG beta for like....5 mins...tried my first battle...wasnt really impressed at all...its like EQ took a crap and out came VG....whatever dude...too all vanbois: Dont stick up for a game that later on you same people will be sticking up for another game when this one is dead...remember that...

You don't know. Yo just pick up what other says and sometimes you even don't manage to do that. Didn't you state VG to be such a good game compared to BC, the day efter BC's release.
So fix the space and if you wants to share your opinion make up one not based on what others opinions are.
I spent all last night and some of this morning looking around the .net and seeing what people where dissing Vanguard about...and its obvious and the reason that this game is considered to be 'dying' Its because the game is for hardcore players only and not for the everyday player...Because, and yes im using WoW as comparison, if you play WoW and get to level 30 then you feel happy because your halfway through the game...yet, in the same amount of time, I have just gotten to level 11 in Vanguard and yet I feel even better about it because of the dedication and how good of a player you really are. The people who are bashing Vanguard for LOTRO and WoW dont want a challenge. They want to go in, play a couple hours, and then be on top with all of the other 'hardcore n00bs' thinking they are great and all....Either that or they are people who can only play an hour or less a day and, again, want to be on top with everyone else instead of working their way up.
This results in our Vanguard boards getting filled with 'Vanguard Sucks' and 'Sorry Brad' threads....I also found something else interesting...Have you (and Im talking to my hardcore brothers here) ever noticed that in WoW you run into a majority of players with bad attitudes that steal loot and that you just cant stand? Now, take that, and look in your time with vangaurd....everyone that i have met have been awsome. They quest with you, grind with you, help you out item wise if they are a higher level and do whatever they can to be friendly. That my friends is what makes a good MMO and what makes my time with an online game worth the $15 i pay every month My point: Its impossible to fake yourself in Vanguard...either your hardcore or your not...yet in WoW and LOTRO you can be considered '1337' for less than a week of total play (and maybe even less)....That and the community is the best out there, you will find no better (in-game)
Prove me wrong and I will gladly praise your game of choice...because you know what? I'm not wrong, and anyone who has played knows that
You're playing a MMORPG not a FPS, RTS etc......there is no skill involved. Stop saying you're "pro" or "hardcore" because you have nothing better in your life than spending 18 hours a day on a game.
Since when do you become "1337" on WoW after playing for a week?.. Have you even played WoW seriously? It requires months of raiding, or did anyway before TBC, before you get to the top in terms of gear.
Vanguard is "dying" because it's released in a stage which you could barely call Beta, only retards would pay a monthly fee to play that. And if a game asks for more time than WoW, you know right away that it's asking you to throw your life away, which proves right there why Vanguard is a worse game.

Perhaps your right. I played EQ for years because it was the only 3D MMORPG out there at the time and had fun.
When WOW came around though it provided lots of entertainment that was casual oriented. Lot's of humor and just a fun world to be in.
Perhaps people like yourself are what I'm staying away from and I saw this type of attitude during the beta as well that made me decide not to play this game. Attitudes like "Your not hardcore enough to play this game" and "Go back to WOW" and "You computer sucks" and "If you don't like it then play Hello Kitty adventure island".
My friend here's a wake up call for you. Vanguard is NOT hardcore and is becoming more WOW like each and every day, whether you believe if or not. I don't play but I can read just as well as the next person. Brad is scared. The money is'nt coming in like he expected it to so he's going to do what he can to attract more players. And if He is'nt willing to do it then I'm sure SOE (when they take over) WILL do what they can to attract a crowd. But with the piss poor release it will be too little, too late.
Brad has stated that it's people like you that basically caused his game to fail. Do I think he's right? Partially. The Vanguard fanbase to a large degree were confident in their game being the godsend that Brad promised and basically pushed any and all dissidents out the door. Now you have a niche game that will never live up to it's potential and DAMN did it have a lot of potential.
I however, don't pay for potential and I try to avoid fans such as yourself. Sorry.....the reverse psychology thing won't work.
Never be afraid of choices. More choices are always good things.

Before any graphics purchase, I'd recommend this website to see the general performance benchmarks with a variety of games:
http://www23.tomshardware.com/graphics.html
My computer couldn't run it. I have tried every MMO, including LOTRO, and the only run that didn't run was Vanguard.

*dee dee dee* Get a clue..!

So you just bought a $700 computer and you want it to play Vanguard, Battlefeild 2142, STALKER or Cysis/Alan Wake ...?
Why didn't you educate yourself and show some restraint and wait till Nvidia DX10 8600GTS hit the shelves, or a varient of that technology. Buying a new computer and outfitting it with an $79 video card is absurd. I mean, only if your trying to call your Computer a gaming rig. Which yours is not...! It's a computer.
and you just basically proved my point with your attack on my PC. Many people arent going to shell out that kind of money to upgrade to a top end PC just so they can play this game. And im not calling it a gaming rig ... and thats my point you want your game to succeed you better make it playable on "computers" not JUST "gaming rigs".
and thats exactly why its dying.

Your a lier.. Plain and simple.
Bite me, Turbine.

This guys said it best...i left for the same reason....weak game...seeya you all in lotro haha
Seriously my stomache is hurting! Read this to the guild and we laughed for over 5 minutes on that oneI like the style of VG.

So fix the space and if you wants to share your opinion make up one not based on what others opinions are.
I'm so broke. I can't even pay attention.
"You have the right not to be killed"
