You're wrong. Period. Most people have left because a) the game is bad, and b) the community is full of elitist idiots. I personally left for a few reasons: Outside of the wood elf city, the game looks like ass. The animations are terrible. The lore was written and determined by a very slow 3rd grader, apparently. Combat and crafting are painful, slow timesinks. Diplomacy is the dumbest thing I've ever seen. And to top it all off, the engine is a complete pile of filth.

Vanguard does nothing new, and aside from playing Go Fish with a mannequin, has nothing to offer that half a dozen or more other games don't do much, much better.

Now- toddle off and be hardcore in your empty, boring, broken game, OK? Have fun.

ok name one other game that has tried something new in order to play an MMO instead of just fighting. I think its great someone tried something new instead of just copying WoW to make a game that will draw people in for a little while and can get milked for money. Diplomancy and Crafting in Vanguard might not be the best way something could have been done, but at least they tried to do something new, which is what they deserve respect for.

I think it's great to have big ideas and I would love to see someting different in a MMORPG but VG really didn't offer much new. Diplomacy and Crafting were both severely broke at release from what my guild was claiming and mounted and sea combat got waxxed as well as the high end continent and a few other continents and isles. I want to see something new and exciting but anyone including me can claim they will create the next great thing. I think people are just tired of all the hot air some of these guys blow off during the wait for their games. After following several MMORPGs it is almost a given that about 50% of what these guys promise will not see the light of day. In the end they cram a few 100 giant ants and giant spiders into the game right before release and hope they can achieve balance and optimization and fun later.

Speaking of giant spiders.... What is up with all these games that have you kill wolves and badgers, etc. Not very inspired.

AC (retired); EQ (retired); DAoC (retired); Horizons (retired); EQII (retired); CoH (retired); AC II (tested); Lineage II (beta); Neocron (tested); Saga of Ryzom (beta); SWG (retired)...

I actually tried VG again recently and I will say the performance has improved quite a bit from launch.  I'm still lagging a lot and have low fps but my machine isn't the greatest so that doesn't help.  However, I won't be staying with VG simply because I don't find it very fun.  As for server populations, each time I logged in or created a new character (I made 5) the server populations were ALL listed as low.  And that was during prime time playing hours.  I ran across maybe 3 people my entire time playing and all the chat channels were pretty quite.

Vanguard is better than it was at launch but it still doesn't interest me and it doesn't look like theres many people playing.

Is a man not entitled to the herp of his derp?

Remember, I live in a world where juggalos and yugioh players are real things.

The guy in question would pull, to tag the mobs, then the guild raid actually killed them.

As a side note. Rwgober's post couldn't be further from the truth.

Impressive as Night Elves can't be shaman.

However, VG is in no way "hardcore". Those expecting to relive their catass glory days from EQ are sorely mistaken. VG has much more in common with EQ2 than EQ1.

You are right. It was a Draeni (sp?).

lol, my point was a guy took an alli shaman to 70 in 3 days on E'T.

    I can't resist the temptation...

But yeah, there was someone on F13 talking about seeing a 67 BE Warlock within a day or 3 of release.

And even before that, I remember PL groups in DAoC taking people 1-50 in 2 days time using siege equipment. I think they fixed it so you couldn't bring a ballista out outside of the frontiers, but I could be wrong. I just rolled a necro, and did it the hard way in 5 days.

Lmao, 5 days!  Oh the grind must have been horrible.

Yeah. I copied it over to the test server so I could /level a couple other characters on Hib and Mid, futzed around here and there, got a Champion to 38, and some others to their upper 20's and just burnt out. Sucked taking it in the tailpipe by some damned caster or archer from beyond my view distance time and time again.
