That's what the Devs said, that's what they're heading for.
The PvE Part will, in conclusion, exist so when you're feeling tired, and just want to do something meaningful without the thrill of PvP, you can do it.
There are only 6 high end dungeons planned for release AFAIK (1 for each race).
The Best Loot will come from the RvR Campaign, when sacking the enemy city, same with the best Crafting Materials.
(Though they won't be so insanely stronger than other stuff, to prevent a Gear-Centric PvP)
To compare the 6 Dungeons with another Number: Mythic is planning for 150+ different PvP Scenarios.
So really don't expect anything great from the Endgame-PvE Part. Or better said: Don't expect anything large in the Endgame PvE Part, because the small things Mythic will add for Endgame PvE, will be great anyway, but there won't be much of it.
To repeat the first rule of WAR: If you don't like PvP, don't play WAR. If do like PvP however, you'll have an absolute Blast playing WAR.
Please show me the link where you got this useless dribble!!! I have not personally seen the devs say anything about what you are thinking they said. They do say that Warhammer is about WAR and that you can achieve it in any fashion you choose, but they have not said said that Warhammer is about PVP!
Watch the podcasts and then you'll know cause it's basically in your face to the point that WAR is about PvP. Yes, there are 4 tiers of growth for each race, tier 1 being more PvE centric, but it slowly turns the other way once you reach tier 4, where PvP is by far the main focus, up to and including the sieges against capital cities.
WAR is about war and war isn't about PvE, it's about PvP. They even state that while people will want to PvE, never fear, as your PvE efforts are counted towards your races WAR efforts. No, you don't ever have to PvP to reach tier 4 and no, you dont have to ever PvE to reach tier 4. However, the end game experience as the OP was curious about, is PvP centric. This isn't a game about raiding a dragon nest, rinsing your hands, returning a week later to reraid the same dragon nest. DAoC as the OP stated was a failure according to her in terms of PvE endgame. Well, DAoC, like WAR was never about PvE but amazing enough, PvE existed in DAoC and what did exist was still as exciting as PvE in any other grindfest PvE centric MMO's, like EQ, EQ2 and WoW.
PvE can only generate so much entertainment before it becomes redundant and boring. PvP is always different, never the same kind of gaming that actually requires something besides logical neurons to complete. Sorry if I find strategic war more appealing then calculated raids, it's in my blood.
I have been watching the podcasts, and nowhere in those podcasts do they say that Warhammer Online is ALL about PVP only! IF the devs wanted to produce a pvp only game then they would have just made an FPS, however the Genre of this game is RPG. Yes, there will be PVP and yes there will be PVE, so deal with the fact that WAR is in not written just for PVP. If you don't like that fact then you need to find another game and not even bother with this one.
The Devs have been very specific about WAR, it is RvR, and RvR is NOT just PvP. There will be a lot of PvP, but there is also alot of PvE. But neither the PvP or the PvE is just about helping yourself, both are done in the name of WAR and advancing RvR.
I think youre worrying about a big load of nothing here.
Unlike games such as WoW, pvp is integral to WAR.
As the pod casts say, you start the game death and war are all around you.
The way the RvR system was described at the games day I attended and on the pod casts should you like to see them, the instancing and battlegrounds if you like, are all escalated, to your characters level and change as you go through the game.
Ergo, it'll be like playing the game. just with other people around - which is kinda what its all about right?
Seriously. stop worrying, and buy the sucker. or just play the beta! You'll see.
My virtual sword of ultimate death and rending is better than *your* virtual sword of ultimate death and rending, because *mine* goes with my armour, okay?
The best end-game gear comes from PvP/RvR content. This could be in various forms, like directly looting the items, or getting specific crafting materials from sacking an enemy capital to create certain stuff.
This equipment should then give you an edge both in PvP/RvR and PvE. So you will HAVE TO PvP if you want the best gear in the game.
Then again, WAR is said not to be gear centric, so it'll most likely just be a small advantage, but hey, that's better than nothing. :-)
iI agree with berryg, Warhammer tabletop is PvP and it's what WAR is heavily based on. Anofayle is talking bollocks about most Warhammer fans not being PvP driven. Warhammer tabletop is the most popular part of the franchise and it is one player or more against another player or more so it is PvP.
But it's not realtime. It's not about reflexes, it's about Luck and Strategy.
But well anyway, WAR will be a PvP Focused Game, so if it's warhammer or not, if you don't like PvP, don't play WAR, and don't whine around these Forums either way.
I can see where you're coming from, but at least they've been honest about the direction the game is heading.
Unlike WoW devs and their skillful bait and switch.
The bait and switch happend because the orignal wow devs left the project before the end game was made and blizz in its infinit wisdom hired a couple of EQ fanbois (Tigule and Furor) to make the end game, so they made it like EQ.
So it wasn't really a bait and switch, it's another game at the end. Like playing chess until you are almost in checkmate then changing to parcheezie.
This request is simple, it is logical, and it is fair. If devs keep ignoring this, I will keep repeating it, until it is understood. It is that important.
Ano, Dev's don't care what one vocal person on mmorpg.com thinks. they want to appease the masses, this is a mmog business, not a please Anofalye business.
if no game makes you happy that sure is a bummer, but i think you have wasted hundreds of hours of your life posting the same crap over and over when nothing will ever be done unless you make the game yourself.
Originally posted by Anofalye I am a Warhammer fan after all. And as most fans of the Warhammer franchise, I am not PvP-realtime driven, nor was I used to in this franchise.
Maybe not 'realtime', but the Warhammer franchise is primarily a PVP one. The RPG is a PVE game, but it's an afterthought not even published by games workshop, while the game that most people who play "Warhammer" play is a head-to-head PVP game, where your opponent is another player every time. Even the 'sideline' games like Mordheim are PVP, you fight other players and gain or lose abilities based on winning and losing fights.
While most of the computer games have been primarily single-player games, I really would not have expected GW to release a multiplayer PVE game with their franchise, since it's never really been their style.

The Devs won't change WAR anyway, and that's good like it is.

Seriously, do you not know what WOW is like or did you skip reading her posts? She doesn't want to raid or PVP but wants to have the best items for PVE grouping, which is very much not the way WOW is set up. The best PVE gear comes from raiding (though heroic 5-mans help out a bit), the best PVP gear comes from arenas, and it's often going to be better PVE gear than what you can acquire from 5-mans.

WoW Post-BC isn't about 40-man raids anymore, and as you said, with normal, 5 man groups you can get quite good gear already.
I read her Posts, and from what she said, WoW fits her Playstyle much better than WAR will.
I'm just trying to prevent her from a disappointment, PvE will be great in WAR, but the best Gear and Crafting Materials and Titles and Trophies and Whatnot will come from PvP-focused RvR.

I wonder if we'll see PvPers are ruining my PvE on WAR forums (take on the WoW posts about PvE ruining PVP )
You can already see from the skills available for some classes that the game will feature alot of strategy and tactics.
Yeah but you won't have time to think a Minute what skill you want to use. 1on1 fights will last from 30 seconds up to 1:30 minutes (June Newsletter Podcast), and you probably want to stun/cast-break the enemie's spell within a second so he doesn't finish his spell, that's what I meant with reflexes, along with battle movement.
Didn't want to say taht WAR will be about who can press most Buttons within a second

It's not about who can press the most buttons within a second. There are hardware/software solutions for this kind of purpose that can push this to the technical limit. It's about pressing the right butons at the right time and in the right order.

Correct. They never planned to create the new Mainstream Game, they created WAR with a superior RvR and PvP in mind, with the focus of "War is everywhere!".
And that's it. Mythic won't whine after you if you don't play their game because you don't like PvP. Mythic creates a Game for PvP Fans, if you aren't one, you aren't supposed to play the game either. It's really that simple.

Blackrock spire, strath and scholo... Onyxia was added soon after launch so i'll throw it into the pile.
So WAR will have 2 more high end PVE dungeons than WoW will at launch so people should stop worrying :]

I enjoyed the combat, I greatly enjoyed the RvR. I liked having the PvP and RvR areas separated. What I detest most in PvP is 'ganking', and when I'm having a 'dang it, all I wanted to do was go turn this quest in and I've been killed 3 times and now I'm being corpse camped' moment...yeah. That's what makes me hate PvP. When I'm not in the mood, I am just not in the mood. But when I am in the mood, I want to be out there with people where our sole purpose is killing each other.
I really don't know exactly how WAR will differ from DAoC. I know that PvP will permeate the game far more. Instead of the usual revulsion I'd feel at that, I feel excitement. I'm still looking forward to the PvE game, too, because I'm not always in the mood for PvP, as stated above.
It makes me grin. I don't like PvP, in general. I'm going to play WAR. And I'm excited. Bring on the PvP, please!

I feel the same way. I played WoW for a long time, and several other MMOs before that, throughout which I mostly avoided PvP. I enjoy it, in general, but I don't like being ganked, like you said above. The "normal" servers in WoW were best for me, because we could do our quests and whatever without worrying about enemies, but if we were looking for a fight it was pretty obvious who was willing to start one.
Overall, I would say my biggest concern for this game is class imbalance, and needing a full group in order to survive more than 10 seconds.

Well in that case, WAR is perfectly crafted for you.
Seperated PvE and PvP Areas, you always can choose:
Do I want to only kill Mobs?
Do I want to take part in the Objective PvP fights in the Open world and have action packed PvP for hours on end?
Do I want to Quest in the RvR Areas, kiling Mobs while having the Thrill of being vulnerable to Ambushes?
Corpse Camping won't exist, as you'll respawn with your Items and no Death Debuff or anything (probably, as I'm not into Beta, I can only talk about plans and infos Mythic gave out somewhen), Ganking is one of Mythics core concerns, and they seem to have multiple features in-game to prevent and hinder Ganking whereever possible.
All I'm saying all the time is: If you want to ONLY PvE your whole WAR-Life, don't expect to see all Zones, be able to finish all Quests and all that, effectively, you'll be missing out at least 50% of the Game's content if you really never want to even risk being attacked and killed by an enemy player.

Very true. If you check out the info Mythic released, you will find that some of the quests, besides the open RvR ones, even revolve around PvP.
Like let's say you're a dwarf: Go and kill 10 Orcs, but not some AI controlled dummies (as sophisticated as they can be), but real actual players. Go and get them, we're in a WAR here after all. It's a whole new level of challenge, going far beyond the typical "bear paws" type of grind quest or the get this from NPC-A to NPC-B type of delivery boy quests. All in all it sounds very exciting, and I really do hope those types of quests will also have the best rewards if you manage to complete them.
But again, it was mentioned often enough by Mythic that WAR will not be a gear centric game, so any advantage people might get from competing in PvP/RvR content will probably be minimum if not even only for show like special looks, banners and stuff like that.

So, apparently, you didn't pay attention to her posts - she's not interested in getting second-rate gear even if it is 'quite good gear', the fact that the best PVE gear in WOW comes from raids means it is not a game for her.

Yes, it's about 25-man raids, which are still raids.
So, apparently, you didn't pay attention to her posts - she's not interested in getting second-rate gear even if it is 'quite good gear', the fact that the best PVE gear in WOW comes from raids means it is not a game for her.
If you don't like to PvP, or RvR in this case then don't play Warhammer. It's like me playing LOTR Online as whining about the lack of end-game PvP.
