    Exactly.

And you would miss millions of subscribtions.  Brilliant.

I am not sure they are going to be missing out on millions of subscriptions. Maybe at an extreme 100,000.  I am sure WAR will be including PvE, raid bosses, etc...but it will be as an aside to do while not doing RvR.  With over 200,000 people signing up for beta I am pretty sure that the lack of hardcore-endgame-raiding isn't turning away many people.

From my expirence most people dislike raiding for hours for 1-2 people to get loot.  I know I took a sigh of relief when I found out you could get great gear from RvR (I think most people did).

So, apparently, you didn't pay attention to her posts - she's not interested in getting second-rate gear even if it is 'quite good gear', the fact that the best PVE gear in WOW comes from raids means it is not a game for her.

Hahah, so she wants a game where the best gear can be received by as little effort as going through a maximum-5-man-instance?

Well in any Case, WAR was never planned, won't, and never will be for her, so why further bother?

    Say, I have a question.

Why don't you PvE lovers imagine you're doing exactly that when going into RvR? It's not like the Dwarf's gonna insult you or something. (There are "language barriers", right?) I don't understand why some people just hate PvP so much, and maybe this could clarify something.

From what I heard, most People who don't like PvP fear losing.

In PvE, you practically never die, unless you do serious mistakes or aren't catious. YOu kill mobs that are DESIGNED to be killed.

In PvP, under perfectly balanced circumstances, your chance of surviving is 50%, meaning half of your battles will result in your death, much more when you are just starting to PvP. Yes, there are language Barriers, the only way to interact with your enemy is by fighting them and certain, pre-set emotion-chats.

I somehow understand them, I myself never managed to play a RTS Game online, competitively. I dunno, I just can't motivate myself to do so, I fear showing how much of a RTS Noob I am, well whatever.

But be sure that WAR will feature many PvP Newcomers, and since you'll be able to PvP right from the start, where you basically only have your basic attack and 1 or 2 skills, there isn't that much you can do wrong. So WAR will introduce you rather smoothly into the world of PvP, not like many other Games, where everyone is expected to be a Pro-Gamer with the perfect Build and uber gear before he should even DARE to PvP...

So yes, it's most probably the fear of challenge, the high risk of losing.

For those who always wanted to try out PvP but can't really "jump over their shadow" to do so, I suggest playing highly team-based PvP Games first, like Rakion, or Battlefield 2/2142 Demo. You get introduced to PvP, if your Team loses, noone will blame you, if your team wins, you might gain confidence ;-)

    Well....

EA / Mythic has a ton of cash to blow. It is very encouraging to see 200k sign up for beta. This is good because EAM is more likley to spend more money if they know they have a winner.

I am willing to bet that EAM will listen to the PvEers and give them some nice content to keep them onboard. I really don't understand why people PvE but I respect their decision to do so. It's cool and they should have the chance to do what ever they want in game. I hope they get their wish...lets face it, PvE is going to play a huge role in RvR points. We are going to need guys who enjoy doing that. My prediction is, that PvEers will decide quite a bit when the game goes live...

ITS ALL ABOUT RACKING UP POINTS FOR YOUR SIDE!

    Uh, no.

What is "Brilliant" is knowing the playerbase you are aiming for and creating a game based upon an IP that they are interested in.

Again, are you advocating adding Open PvP for games like LOTRO where PvP'ers were shouting for it? And belive me, they said the EXACT same thing you did "by adding open pvp you will get many more subscriptions thus insuring the success of the game".

So is that what you are saying? Should games like LOTRO have open pvp so that they can have more subscriptions?

Knowing what the game is about and who your audience is "is key" to creating something that works.

Now, i'm not saying that I'm against the idea of alternate rules servers. I've always been for the idea of choice. however, hearing what the developers say about Warhammer, I am convinced that they primarily want it to be a pvp game. And consider that there are a lot of hardcore pvp'ers who will think that it is "weak" pvp, they have their job cut out for them.

If the developers are saying (and they are) that Warhammer is about "War" and not "Tailor Hammer' or "Knitting Hammer" (there was an intreview that had something said like this) then I can safely say that they are focused on creating game content that makes sense with their vision and the IP.

This is not a PvE game though it does have PvE content. And just as I was happy that Turbne did not ruin LOTRO by adding open pvp I am equally happy that Mythic is sticking to its vision and creating a PvP game.

It's not just about getting "millions of subscribers" it is about getting millions of like minded subscribers who are "on board" with the same style of gameplay.

I'm sorry but I just can't agree with anything but what the game is aiming for. Sure, they "might" make an alternate rules server but again, it seems that they are very focused on creating a PvP game.

There are so many PvE games coming out that you will be able to find something you like. Because otherwise, when the next PvE game comes out that you are completley interested in , and where there are players  yelling for open PvP to be added, think about this trhead. Think about those PvP players saying that they will get so many more subscribers by adding open PvP.

And will you agree with them?

Well, if people liked the PvE side enough i think the creators of WAR might throw in some more end game PvE material (hey happened to WoW now right? :p). that and not supplying your fans of what they want is a total let down. BTW i really wouldn't call this game PvP  essentric, i mean people who just do PvE will be part of the backbone to help other people do pvp, both are essential in game play which is a good thing, that and some of those quests intergrate PvE with PvP to help ease in players into PvP, in hopes that they will enjoy the game's pvp side even more. And besides, we don't know much about how PvP and PvE will work out, i highly doubt that any one of us has even touched it yet, so to call it strictly pvp atm is just not right, you never know what might happen. so PvEers out there, just hope that this game has something more then just PvP :)

BTW does anyone know what would happen to pvp if theres are too many greenskins and not enough dwarf population in the game would it cripple the pvp to who will win for the most part? O_O cause thats whats frighting me the most about this O_O no population limitation (unless a video alrdy explained this then sorry for the spam hehe ^^;)

so wheres the role play is?

either wen a player dont  enter a role play server  wen playing pvp pve theres a time of fun role playing and more of the players dont even notice that .....

so i think this game will be like 80%pvp RvR well the role play will be lost there cuz there not will be comunity  from other real to talk wen fight and i think if you fight  someone in this game and log out there will pass weeks until you see that player that fought with you so i think this will be come repetitive only fight others no diplomacy aspecs no political relation in game no PKs to search and kill well whats the point of this game to prove that will be adictive for many many months  in will be more fun if the pve mix with pvp imagine goind anywere and fight anyone at anytime ....

well thats my opinion the pve sometimes give us a break of the pvp or viseverce must be a balance on that no mather that is only a pvp game repetitive things use to be boring wen time past...

We actually had the chance to play through more of the game's ambitious realm vs. realm combat and discuss the various options with the team. Building on what the team has learned from Dark Age of Camelot, Warhammer Online will feature all kinds of competitive play designed to appeal both to hardcore PVPers and to more traditional PVE types who are intimated or uninterested in fighting other players directly.

Translation: Welcome to DAOC 2 where we've learned from our mistakes and make PvE a choice, RvR/PvP a choice and the combination a choice.
