Compare LOTRO's release to WoW and I think you will say that LOTRO's release was relatively bug free. Not to mention other releases.
Personally, I like Monster Play. The Players (Freeps) are well known and have earned respect of the Creeps. When more Players reach 40, we will loose some the charm of knowing characters.
Boring? Yes it can be. There are adding more content tomorrow. The music system is being updated and you don't have to have talent to play a tune.
Also, the interface is closer to DDO and AC2 than WoW.
They added the AH, and horses late in Beta. I agree they are rushed, and shouldn't have been included yet. People begged for these additions.

I'm enjoying the game ALOT. I have no need to spill my guts on every little detail about the game because ITS FUN. The moment I try to analyze why its fun...it will probably stop being fun.
Hope you have fun in your next game and manage to not get banned.
Well, Kyle did you ever think that maybe im not a hardcore gamer and i didn't have a account with MMORPG.com?
I don't sign up on multiple forums and multiple websites, but this site is the only site that is mainly about MMORPG's and since i know about this site, i am frequently coming to it looking for good news on upcoming GOOD mmo's, i decided to rate LOTRO and give my review because when i see its 8.4, i sit here thinking, unbelievable...that is so untrue. Then i think of all the people that will get baited into buying this game and finding out how awful it is.
I played the game and i gave it many chances, i tried everything to make it fun and enjoyable and i saw so many cliche and boring aspects of it and realized i was playing a game that was using old MMO's as its foundation for gameplay. Using ideas that are repetitive and boring.
I make a review because i want to warn people to save their money instead and wait for Warhammer Online in Q1 of 2008. Maybe you guys are satisfied with the game, good for you, your complacent with poorly designed and cliche MMO's, good for you, but i know alot of people that like MMO's and they want something new, and LOTRO is not new, has done nothing groundbreaking and nothing spectacular and is just a distraction till the worthwhile MMO's. For 5 years in the making, they haven't done a whole lot, they've only made one region in the game, thats not too impressive.
You guys aren't proving me wrong your just insulting me and calling me a troll, which isn't proving that the game is worth playing. Why not start thinking constructively instead of childish?
Good for you Villa, when someone gives criticism to something they are considered a troll in your vocabulary. So i do hope you don't ever have to complain about anything in life, god forbid that would happen or you'd be called a troll.
Were you even around for the beginning of WOW? There was no pvp system at all. There was world pvp without a purpose. Care to comment?
Some players (including myself) feel that world pvp "without a purpose" was the best way to implement pvp. The "purpose" was to kill other players for the sheer fun of it. Alas, Blizzard has demonstrated that their vision for PvP is instance based, competition style, and ranked, and has taken many steps to ensure that PvP happens within these guidelines.

I've already provided enough information and my opinion to as you would put "prove you wrong".
Do we need proof that you know a lot of people? Cause obviously you're speaking for the majority.
You're warning people not to purchase this game and instead wait at least 6 months for a game you basically know nothing about?
We can go back and forth all day long about this. The simple truth is you wrote a very bias review. You reported your opinion as fact and that sir just won't slip through the cracks.
I think people, including me, are insulting you because we can't smash your keyboard into your face right now. Maybe I'm alone on that feeling though, who knows. j/k
Exactly! World pvp was fun and i never needed a reason to do it other then the fact that it was fun to battle with other players either in light skirmishes or huge epic battles that would happen spontaneously around the world. In WoW, now all they do is fight in instances. Very sad.
First of all the name is Villads not valla *chough learn to spell chough* second of all when the only posts you made is about how bad this game is then I consider it a troll post. I dont play it anymore because im waiting for WAR and have to work to late hours so I dont got the energy/time to do this since I got homework too.. So please go troll where nobody cares..
Remove the carebear penalties from an openworld pvp system and it would be enjoyable. The instanced battles were a blessing when they were implemented. I was so tired of killing random people. It might be fun for you to just go back and forth killing each other all day with no risk or reward but for me it does absolutely nothing. At least with the instances it felt like competition instead of a zerg or gankfest.
I detailed the game in my review, i stated the truth from my perspective andother players perspective in the game, and you don't have to agree but i am no way being immature and posting this because i got baned.
This right here is what makes your posts totally meaningly to me. Anyone who claims to speak for other players has no business being listened to. It's quite obvious you don't speak for the majority of people replying here and you damn sure don't speak for me. Who gave you the right to put words in other's people mouths? You want to speak your opinion, fine. You want to make claims that will without a doubt stir up critisisms and different opinions, fine. But don't sit there and show up just how mature you are by claiming to know the perspective of other players.
Having played this game from closed beta (before the lonelands were introduced) up through today the OP makes some good points, though not worded very well. When I originally started in cb I hated the game. Everything from the questing to the player models, to the idea of never being able to be a true hero. As time wore on the game grew on me. Is the game perfect? Hell no. Has it had one of the best launches I have experienced? Hell yes. Is it a game I will play for many years? Nope. It is a halfway decent time killer until better games come along. Thankfully got a number of good singleplayer and console games coming down the pipe then Tabula Rasa, Age of Conan and Warhammer. Summer mostly sucks for gaming anyway which is cool, this way I can work on getting that skin cancer that is so hip and cool :P
Point to somewhere in my first post where i said the word "fact", can you? Of course reviews are opinion. DUH! But the review i gave was me telling the truth not exaggerated or added stuff to make it more believable. It's all true so its either up to the reader to believe it and stay away while he/she waits for the better games, or to try it and take the risk.
Some will enjoy it, some will find out i was right, too bad for those that tried it and found out i was right, you just wasted your time and money. I only tried to help.
The new games i never tried out yet? I am reading up on the information for the game and i can only go by what they show us, but it looks very promising. You can only be optimistic and skeptical at the same time. We can't play Warhammer right now, but we can play LOTRO, and i gave an honest review, nothing held back, and i told the truth, its up to you to either heed my warning or to waste your time and money.
------------------------
You want the honest truth about most people who have posted so far. They didn't read the entire post, they read up to a point, stopped and then made up assumptions. If you were like some people who read the entire thing you might have had a different opinion, most just stopped and then spamed hate messages, which is very childish and gets you nowhere. You don't prove your point, you make yourself look childish. Same thing goes for those that just read up to a point and hit burn this post on the poll, because they are either a die hard fan of the game or a person that read up to a point and stopped to leave a hate message.
Until you can start posting constructive material on here, your posts mean nothing, and you don't prove me wrong.
Constructive would be something like: Polite and respectful posts. Giving clear and good reasons as to why everything i say is wrong, and give examples of situations in the game.
Bashing me and calling me a troll, making assumptions and whining is not constructive nor does it make your posts mean anything.
When i say for example the gameplay is boring, i gave information on it. What do you do? You call me a troll and a kiddie, someone even said i must be someone from WoW trying to stir up trouble, lots of negative assumptions. I also had someone say that all that i posted was negative, not true, i posted the good and the bad, i gave reasons for some good things in the game, most people just read and stopped before they finished, so they could post their hate message and move on.
You have to prove to me that the game is not cliche and old fashioned. That its groundbreaking and new and that it is going to be the best MMO for many years to come. Which you can't, because its not. Its a game with a foundation on games like EQ and other old MMO's. It was in developement for 5 years and it would be impossible to reconstruct the game from the game up so they launch it in a year when so many new ideas are sprouting up. Their game will crash and will only be supported by the lore fan base, but when it comes to good gameplay, it has very little to offer. People want better gameplay and there are companies right now making that. Age of conan looks very interesting as well, it will also be available on xbox 360, combat based on skill, check it out guys!
Constructive would be something like: Polite and respectful posts. Giving clear and good reasons as to why everything i say is wrong, and give examples of situations in the game.
OK, you're new here, so you really don't know. Most of your post was written based on your personal experiences and opinions. There would be no point to refute your post with my own opinions because 1) your views are not new, they been posted in one form or another in many other threads, 2) because i've spent a lot of time providing counter-examples to those same points.... not worth my time to repeat the process....the amusement factor is gone and 3) it would simply be my opinion, which is no more correct than yours.
But I wouldn't have belittled other people for liking or disliking this game, challenging their judgment on what they like and don't like. I might have stated my own opinions, but I would have phrased them in such a way as to not come across as a troll. I certainly wouldn't have admitted that I got myself banned from the game for behavior that can certainly be considered inappropriate.
I too created a new thread (in the WAR forums no less) right after I joined this site, and promptly drew a 100 plus flame thread attacking me for it. I've since learned the ropes around here since then and how to write posts that don't incite outrage or anger (well, usually).
Here's the bottom line...we don't have to answer your post the way you want us to. In time you may learn how to compose your posts in such a way to create a meaningful debate, but most people would agree, this is a tough audience to sell.

juvante i respect your opinion, and of course your entitled to it. I am sorry the game didnt work out for you.But i have to disagree with you on all accounts. I wont go into them all too much as you have your mind made up. but in any event i agree that a person shouldnt be bashed when they voice their opinion. but also remember how you present yourself is equally important on this site. your presentation goes a long way to how people will treat you here.
but i definitely wont agree with you on any of your points as I hae experienced none of those issues. e.g. bugs i have yet to come across any, minus a few Crashes to desk top which may be due to the head on my video card(gotta clean the dust out i think) damn 8800's have that silly ducting fan BS.
as far as the community being immature? i maybe came across one person who was a borderline bonehead and even I wouldnt label him or her as immature, just a bit biased on me being lvl 18 for ancient evil quest in great barrows lol, then again could i really blame him. (just wanted that bow from purging evil haha got it too) questing is a joy to grind to. the community thus far has been stellar. gold farmerS? sorry havent seen any yet.
and yeah, you will always have x number of fed ex quests, kill x number of wolves, gobbies, and what not. thats typical to any mmo. but the shining detail with LOTRO is its epic prologue quests which blow away a number of MMOs away when it comes to story immersion and interaction. mind you im also a quest junkie so im a bit finicky about the quality of the quests. LOTRO does a fine job on the EP quests regardless if you agree or not.
I love the trait system, and no its not silly or stupid, actually iys quite inventive, and lets ask ourselves why would we need all of them equipped? what purpsose woould that serve? lets set aside the fact that you upgrade your traits as you complete different deeds. e.g. wisdom +1 upgrades to wisdom +2 why would i need both them equipped?
The auction house I will agree with you on to some degree. I dont use it myself, mainly i have nothing i can sell worth selling, the MMO is afterall new, barely out a 2 months. Music system is fun as hell, yeah yeah, you do need some musical knowledge to take true advantage, but its all that hard to form some coherent melody even if its not some song you herad from the radio. Ive done it, and i have done some good original tunes. but lets not forget the core thing here....having fun! if somoene thinks its stupid and childish to press the keys randomly they are a bit uptight in my opinion just relax and have fun. there has to be some reason why the music system is so popular....cause its fun.
Armor yeah its a bit bland at first, but as you gain levels it starts to get unique, but also lets not forget this MMO is new, give it a while. let it mature a bit. patience after all is a virtue lol. no pun intended lol. all i like this game alot. does it revolutionize anything? no, does it improve or progress existing features in the genre yeah, to some degree. is it fun and engaging? yeah, but thats all matter to interpretation. all in all you made some okay points, but they are in the end your opinion as such, they dont necessarily rely on facts, only your perspective. for me I like this game alot and yes! i will continue to "waste my time" lol, along with bunch of other poeople.

You have no proof that i am a troll. That's just your opinion. This is a review to help people make a good choice, to save their time and money.
I have nothing against this game, i'm not in a conspiracy against Turbine. I'm warning everyone ahead of time to save them their hard earned cash and time. It is not a worthwhile game and there are going to be fantastic games coming out on console games like Xbox 360 and Darkfall Online or Warhammer Online, Age of Conan as well, i suggest to everyone to check these games out for they are much better from the looks of things and are much more up to date with new ideas and different approaches to MMO's.
Make the right choice, or your welcome to find out the truth yourself after you have spent countless hours and thrown $50 down the toilet
COUNTLESS hours? Sounds like its entertaining to me if I can spend COUNTLESS hours. Geez I think you might have actually sold a few boxes if people can spend $50 and COUNTLESS hours playing. So much for your crusade to save people money.
In America I have bad teeth. If I lived in England my teeth would be perfect.
You know why some people spend those countless hours? Because they have no life and have nothing else to play, or they are trying to get to the fun part of the game only to have spent countless hours WASTING it all away, and then regretting it.

Like i said, people are easily amused and are accustomed to cliche games with weak gameplay because thats all they know. Companies are thinking up new ways to do things interesting, and the old cliche games will be a thing of the past and you guys won't ever want to go back. So its understandable that you guys are ignorant to what's better, in a year or so, i hope you think back on this post.
MMO's are new, just like computers are new, we are living in a good age with technology increasing and getting better. Games will get better and better.
Originally posted by ManJunk -Stability and performance of the game engine is top notch. Same applies for warcraft (as it should 2 years later). Gonna disagree a bit with that one. I crash to desktop fairly often when "zoning", either in/out of an instance, or taking a horse to a different town. On the other hand, it is useful for making sure I get off the pc, and get some sleep before work. -Easiest mmo to adapt to. Tips and information for everything. No wondering what a skill or item can and does do. This was not the same for warcraft on release, nor was it for quite some time. Not sure if this is a positive, or a negative. Never had any problems with WoW in beta, but was to burnt out to play at release, so something may have changed that I missed. I'm torn between EQ eras lack of info, and the modern style of having a small novels worth of tooltips on every little niggling detail. Sometimes figuring out what a spell or skill does is kind of fun, and I think it can even promote thinking out of the box as well -Quest system in lotro beats warcraft's without a doubt in my mind. Lotro quests have a purpose. You have your typical kill this, go here, and do this quests but at least they aren't solely for XP and money. If not XP/Cash/Gear, then what are they for? Other than the Epic quest, the rest are exactly the same as WoW's quests. -The character models aren't spectacular in Lotro but I appreciate that now more than ever when I engage in largescale pvp battles. Warcraft models are colorful, end of story.models are ok, but the animations are a bit lacking, as are the textures, namely armor textures.
You know why some people spend those countless hours? Because they have no life and have nothing else to play, or they are trying to get to the fun part of the game only to have spent countless hours WASTING it all away, and then regretting it.

MMO's are new, just like computers are new, we are living in a good age with technology increasing and getting better. Games will get better and better.
why is it when a person does a activity they enjoy have no life? does a person who plays countless hours playing football outside, or going to sports bar, or going to local casino? or going to chucky cheese lol
When you engage in a particular activity on a constant basis no matter what it is, does that constitute not having a life? people have a "life" as long as they socializing on some level, and MMO's though it is a activity that requires you to sit down while engaging in it, is one of the most social activities i can think of. hell you can have thousands upons thousands of people at a baseball game, or disney land and almost no one truly interacts, talk or engage with each other on some level, very rarely does this happen. MMO however you can talk to, discuss, debate, engage, interact group, or otherwise "socialize" with potentially hundrededs of people on a daily basis. I think there is a social stigma for most people who can't wrap their head around a activity that is not necessarily conisder the social norm. but that schanging soon.
But lets not forget that, people in these games, have husbands, wives, kids, sisters, brothers, cousions, uncles, grandparents who play or have played some game which had a "socialable" aspect to it. to me this is having a life. to me and plenty of others who hold jobs, take our kids to school, make 'quality time" with our significant others are having a life. as long as you socialize with a human on some level your having a life.
and its not bout being ignorant its about having fun in what you consider enjoyable. not what you consider enjoyable and plagate on my views for not mirroring your own. i figure like this, here is the deal if you are so tired of weak gameplay, cliche features, recycled crap, id take upon you to develop your own game which you feel will have strong gameplay, strong elements, "revolutionary, and innovative" features. by all means do so, and comeback to us with this game so we can "enjoy" it too.
i think what you miss is, like technology, games dont always take giant leaps, but rather small steps to a greater overall sweeping features, gameplay, mechanics that give us the Ooooo's and Ahhhhh's that we all like to experience. between those are the occasional innovation in a particular part of the genre that doesnt necessarily make a dramatic change on a grand scale but rather on a small one, that has a eventual change on the genre on the whole. like i said...."patience is a virtue" no pun in tended lol. get it? virtue lol...sigh*

To the above posts. I don't care if you bash me, but don't expect your posts to mean anything if you do nothing but bash because you need better constructive posts with meaning to get any real point across. I'm here to debate, and i'm not intimidated by anyone here.

Games will get better and better.
why is it when a person does a activity they enjoy have no life? does a person who plays countless hours playing football outside, or going to sports bar, or going to local casino? or going to chucky cheese lol
