sense 2004 I have been a rejistered member at the "offical" forums, watched the "revised website" changes, the "it's coming out soon!" comments and the "name changes", "Legal issues" and more. A year ago an announcment was made that beta will be soon and if "you and your clan sign up now!... you will..." yada yada yada....all of this, ALL of it, is words. Reminds me of so many out of the guarage games that promised the world and ended being crap. Name 2? sure here you go, Mourning and the ever wondering "what the hell happended" dark and light MMO's. Some here actually racked many for both those titles, but yet come on here and say this will be the best? okkkkk then, whatever you want to believe, keep the faith, but this game if it ever comes to light will be so outdated, many of you say "I don't care about the graphics" will be crying "the graphics suck!" when and if it ever is released. You can try to convince yourselves and attempt to convince others, but the reality is different. Just look at any title out. Keep waving the endless pitch of "it will be" when there is no sign that it even exsist at this point. Yea, I seen the vids release about a year ago and what was so good? It looked like something released from a gaming training school then an actual game. Eh, maybe I am wrong , I am one that has been waiting a long time. But if the history of these devs show anything, it shows they are done and the only thing they can afford is to keep a website going in hopes to sell their idea to some company willing to put of whatever money they can get out of it.
Your right they take a huge loan(around 27.5 million dollars)and go through 4 years to get a notice of allowance so it must be a complete hoax.

trying to get a loan of that amount and actually getting are two seperate things, show my any actual proof this project has moved along beyond 2 years ago and I will shut my trap. Till then me and others are sceptical as we were with DnL and others. Fanbot it all you want, I am a gamer looking for the next great game, if this was a true game coming to light great, but all roads point to a dead end. I will eat my words if this is actually a viable released product, you can hold me to that, but till then it's vaporware.

It took them 4 years to get it but they finally got it.(notice of allowance)
Your using a TARR report to say they got this loan? ookkkk... then.. all this is, is the information about pending and registered trademarks that they rejistered, this has nothing to do with a loan, selling the code, etc.. this is old news man, were this is realtive to anything except them finally getting a name means? Look up the meaning of trademarks and get back to me why this means anything.
I can get a trademark for 500 bucks and wait! so can you! oooo AAAAAHH , this has nothing to do with the fact there is no valid information, content or actual follow up their "beta" "team" "product" or "release" for that matter. DnL baby DnL is all that needs to be said.

No this isnt the loan, this is the link to were they get the money.
Its proof to show that its being used by Aventurine to sell a product with the name "Darkfall" and since you have to have some proof of a product otherwise the notice will be gone very quickly.
Yes you can get it for what is considered cheap but you do need some proof of it otherwise it will be revoked.
I dont see how DnL is relevant since that was an underdeveloped game that was forced to release.
Since you apparently have such high standards. Tell me what would you like as proof?
They have *very* wealthy backbone of investor funding (Aventurine is loaded with money), and they just recently took out a loan from a bank for roughly 27.5 million US dollars to -- presumably -- finish development... and self-publish, if needed.
The original post in this thread is based off an anonymous Internet forum post - completely worthless - anyone could have typed up whatever they liked and probably did.
As for this $27.5 million loan you speak of please post a reference.

Aye, selling not making is my point, what would we like to see (or better yet me) as proof? As stated, an actual workable game? I mean after all I don't care if they sell it off, drop kick the code off a bridge. If however if it "IS" a valid title in the works, there should be some progress. If not, it should be pulled from this site and to be honest any that has information on such. Thou, I am one not in position to ask for such things, to me personally. Let's actually see something other then what I could whip up or anyone with a lick of any talent using photo-shop or a makeshift vid that could be easily the same engine that ran Mourning.
This whole thread and most of what people want to know is the truth, not another spin or lie. Let's see it or just put the dead horse to bed. The game as a whole has great concepts and ideas, but I can write out great concepts and ideas (as again other such Dev's did) and say "yes, it's IN!". As much as I use DnL and Mourning as my examples, at least those 2 companies did something this one hasn't. Actually released a game, may have sucked, didn't have all they promised, but they did actually have something, crap or not it was there. These guys have done more spinning then most washers do in a life-time.
P.S. another link to nothing about money, finding investment capital is what almost all companies do, I did it in the past and it's hard work, this has nothing to do with the viability of the product. You can have a patent on an idea or for that matter almost anything that is viable for selling. All these links mean two things, jack and shit and jack left town. (haha had to throw an old pun in) , but to the point, again VIABLE information as we asked for 2 years ago after the little problem they had before. No I don't need to go into that now, if you guys followed this as you say you have , you will know what I am talking about. Even then as of now, there is still nothing to say otherwise that this title was a great idea that ran out of cash and is done with because now their engine (if actually in a workable stage at this point) is so old, no company will in their right mind invest into 4 year old technology. It is just not smart business. Think what you like, but that is the way of the world.
Don't take me wrong, I am all for a title such as this to hit our grubby little hands, I just don't care for the spins these devs have spewed sense they initially announced the stopping (then slow development) of the game because of financial constraints. Hmmm don't remember that do you? Oh you do? Then why are we having this discussion to begin with? Oh, that's right, they filed for a trademark so that makes it's all good, hehe ok, I bit now what?
Oh and btw, proof for a trademark can be a schematic drawing or other things along those lines, so no sadly, this proves nothing for the actual game being developed at this point. It does as some weight for them trying to raise or sell what they have off, but again no smart buisness will invest in old tech, just the way it is. If I remember correctly the Mourning engine was the one that the college kids are using and can be bought by developers for 100k I think it was, don't remember exactly but it was cheap for a virtual engine. Sucked, but a good ground to start on. This is what darkfalls current look reminds me of, with a bit of photo-shop touch up as those of us who got suckered into Mourning proved later. So again, why are we even talking about this when again there is no solid evidance to prove other wise other then the devs coming in here and spinning the actual facts in an attempt to keep membership high in their forums to sell off their old tech by saying "look we got a solid following!"... yea old news old news.
"The monster created isn't by the company that makes the game, it's by the fans that make it something it never was"
I wish they would let some MMORPG.COM staff member to review the game (play it), I think that would shut up some vapor-yellers. Despite sucking in so many ways, this site is the biggest MMORPG site around.
Oh man, I see this again and again and every time I feel a little bit sad for all the broken nerd hearts just waiting to happen out there. We have clearly seen that it takes more to create a successful release than boatloads of money, a dedicated team and a rabid (albeit small) fanbase of zealots. The dated grafx alone will kill this game's potential subscriber base, and the longer development takes the worse this problem becomes. And anyone who thinks that just because they have loads of capital these guys are relaxing and taking all the time in the world to polish up their little diamond is deluding themselves... they'll kick it out the door the second it looks like it works most of the time, same as everybody else.
In this day and age, PR is everything. You NEED good publicity to generate interest in your product, because ultimately you are trying to sell it to as many people as possible. The most obvious way to generate good publicity is to release as much content about the game as you possibly can so that people can see how great your game is and become excited about it. [NOTE: "Content" does not mean a wishlist of features, we all know how easily those fall by the wayside]. The fact that this title is living in a publicity vacuum is clear evidence that they don't actually have anything to show - if they did, there would be *NO* good reason not to show it.
Find something new to dream about, Darkfall fans, and save yourselves the agony of yet another disappointment.
This guy's full time job is discrediting DF or what? Or is it some kind of Black PR? Really man, wtf are u trying to prove?
I don't think he is trying to prove anything... I think what he wants is PROOF of anything.
So far in this thread no proof either way has been shown. Sure there has been links to USPTO and other sites. That is akin to a friend sister told my uncle X. Which means nothing really. The site had official beta sign ups in 2005. Two years later they still have no beta. Most of the information they have released in those two years is that beta is around the corner. Two years is not around the corner. The quotes from the Dev that said putting up a beta is harder then anyone can imagine... sorry don't buy it. The network and server structure can be put up in a week. If their code is a "complete" version as they claim it would not take more then a month to iron out any server kinks and get the ball rolling.
The truth is we do not know what is going on. I can tell you this... if they were talking beta in 2005 and still there are not comprehensive movies or screens showing UI and other features (please post a link if you can show me) it means one of two things.
What news they are releasing to the public is a lie. -or-
They are incompetent and cannot complete what they started.
This game is going the way of shadowbane... Great concept with vaunted features and PvP structure... released 1/2 finished and poorly designed which lead it to failure.
I believe darkfall will be released... but there will be so many issues that it will bleed customers so quickly the game will be on the shelf in 6 months.

Thanks for the link on the Aventurine loan. For the lazy, here is the quote:
"Established in 1863, Lambadarios Law Offices has had an encouraging year...acting for Aventurine in relation to its issue of a €20 million convertible bond loan with Marfin Bank..."
So this law office represented Aventurine on the issuance of a convertible bond loan, but that does not necessarily mean that Aventurine went ahead with it, nor that they were able to find any investors if they did.

Oh, I would believe me. It's just that everything else looks like shit or yet another grind.
Hehe, yeah thats why I follow DF. There is nothing else coming up that I would want to play. It's just more of the same EQ/WOW based, instanced, freedom restricted, shit... cept for DF

As much as i know a few reporter from online magazins played a demo verion last year at E3, and another one was in greek to visit them by their work(around the same time). Here is the article about this visit from www.womengamers.com/interviews/darkfall.php
Does this say anything about how darkfall will be, if they release it? No. Does it say, that there is a product/game? Yes.
It is about you, to decide whatever you believe.. when it release everyone will know how Darkfall will be. I will wait until then.
Odd pattern I see here... When the updates actually come in the trolls are completely silent and have nothing to say, but after the devs quieten down a bit they just suddenly start up again... I think it's hillarious if you lot are going to bash a game have the bloody guts to come up with some REAL evidence that the game is vaporware, so far there hasn't been any and I'm quite happy to believe that the game is under the works now.
As for my personal view on this, game, I'm impatiently waiting but I'm not impatient enough to start calling it vaporware like a little spoilt child just because I can't get it in two years like the rest of the other grind MMORPG's that come out and ruin my gaming experience for me, like I said, bash the game all you want, but come up with some evidence that isn't a load of shite and has nothing to do with what the topic is actually about or is several years old.
If you can't back up your vaporware 'facts' then don't bother posting them here, your just going to get bashed by the people who don't support your views, that includes me.
Quoting people doesn't make you clever, in fact, it makes you all the more stupid for not bothering to read the quotes you post in the first place.

Vaporeware facts, np just as so many fanbots here say, look it up. History proves the truth atm, sure there is no physical proof of vaporware as much as their is no physical proof an actual game exsist. This topic from the original poster was about more lies. Big suprise there , that is proof. You can look up all the past dealings with this company/dev team on what they have posted and what was actually happening. Prime excample, it took a fan that happened to run across some information about the company naming issues when that came up because within the offical forums we argued that the name "darkfall" was allready used by another company. Sure enough it was and this company had legal issues standing just on that very topic.
Thou within all of this , the devs persisted that everything is going smooth and on schedual. After this was brought to light, we then started hearing "well, yes we are working on that and it's a company matter" then followed by "we are at a stop of production while we work out these issues" then it went " Currently we cut our team down due to financial restraints but no worried DF is still on the way!" then to "cricket criket criket" then to "BETA! Have your clans join up to be part of our closed beta! more information to follow" then to "cricket cricket" ... Proof? yea sure, track record is all the proof you need. When we the "fanbase" made comments about being only numbers to be shown to potential investors or buyouts we were shuned.
So again you think that everyone here is wishing this title the vaporware title. Far from it, the fact that we actually post about it shows our intrest. But the constant deciept, lies and basic bs this dev team has spewed off comes just off the same lines of those in DnL and Mourning. We as humans learn from our past and use that to determin a probable future. Companies do the same thing to see how an investment will work out etc... All of which needs no proof, the proof is allready there. When companies today invest in possible MMO's , you don't think they look here to see what the public is thinking? I would if I were to invest in such as any viable company should. Does our posting help the prospects of this particular title see the day of lite with all the negative thinking atm? Probably not, but hopfully a company with the finances and know how will and pick up on that a pvp type of game is needed.
However as we look down the future of MMO's, pvp is the new "trend" in the horizon starting with Warhammer and will spread from there if their numbers are good and all indications say yes. It will just be a company that is viable to produce such a product that will have a true following, not one that keeps the rumor mill going in hopes of selling off it's old wares.

Whatever you say.
And if the new kind of pvp(aka WAR) is really enough for you, then you have really no problem. This kind of watered down pvp(reduced to pure combat(simple kind of) in a controlled manner) you could always play, not just since now. There was always a game which could offer this.. damn, you even do not need a mmo for this. Play DAoC or WoW or almost any other MMO out there, or CS, BF, Starcraft, Dawn of War, Guild Wars or any multiplayer game.
But the kind of pvp i talk, the kind of pvp darkfall promise will most probably never be developed from a major company, as long as no other company will prove that this can work, and that the investment is more then profitable. Look, it is quite simple to develop something like WAR(from a mechanic point of view, not the graphic or polish factor.. but it is easy controllable, and easy predictable), but to develop a dynamic pvp environment is quite more risky, and not as predictable, and up to now more or less unproven. For this kind of game you need innovation, you need passion, and both is not the home of any major company. Those are also facts.
If Darkfall fail, we will for a long time not see anything similar, we will of course see a lot of WAR clones. But well, WAR is just WoW+DAoC and withit by themself just a clone, and not really that what i want from a mmo. Sure, it can be fun for some time, but that is it.
It is and was always the fact, that just small and independent developers are able to bring something new to the table, to be innovators. It was true for Westwood, Origin, Bullfrog and all the other small independent developer from the past. The major companies are only able, and willing to clone a successful concept, and polish it up and make minor changes to it, that it looks a little bit different.. but not to much(could be risky).. And so it was in any games genre in the past, and so will it be in any genre in the future.

100% agree with your statement, I just feel that Warhammer will bring upon the idea that pvp (rvr) is the wave of the future, in this we could likly see these things that were going to make Darkfall the game for the pvp crowed. Will we see this within 5 years? Highly doubtfull, but seeing it in 10 is possible. While it would be great to see this title make the day of light, most of our points here are it is , as with other previous titles pure speculations and promises never full-filled. If the devs are waiting for some sort of mircle buy out, I think they will be waiting a long time if not forever to get it. Each year the engine (again if complete) is getting older and older, just a matter of time were it will be not viable for any market. Look at POTBS and there is a prime excample of an engine that if not released soon , will make people see it and say, "uh, this is new?", their water and ship combat is top notch and it is said they are still working on the avatar combat, however no matter how much they work at it, you can see the age of the engine simply by watching a vid. While as many say it is still viable "as is" in a few years, those same people will say " were are the shaders ? were is the detail? " heck I am one of them that does it after a time.
I played shadowbane with crappy graphics purely because it was fun to play. However after the constant lagging issues when it gets above 10 people on screen and those using the hacks for lag attacks, it was just not worth playing anymore. Love the concepts of that game as well and would have loved to seen a Shadowbane 2. To the point, hopfully Darkfall will see light, but that tunnel is so dark right now, we are all hoping to find some company with the vision and innovations to bring us a new light were there actually is a end to that tunnel.

But i guess if you're the type of guy who are into conspiracy theories, you can easily dimiss all that as just a figment of my imagination.

I am the president of the company, eh? hehe point being you can say all you want, the proof that so many keep saying is there and others that keep asking for it is plain. Past factual known facts of what the devs have done and the present which is nothing. It's all talk till as another poster in another thread so very well put, "if a few people can actually sit down and play it, then talk to us"... till then it is. Funny as well sense the start there were 30 people and now 30 people are working on it again.
Hey, whatever till there is an actual game to see here there is nothing more to say on the topic till the actual game is viable and playable. Spew on all the " I know" stuff you want. It was just like the devs that hit the DnL and Mourning forums on this site that did the say thing. We players got scammed once, twice, but a third time? Highly doubtful, we learned our lesson.
The proof is now in the actual playable product and nothing more. Saying someone is in a conspiracy theory just dictates that you are in one and just don't see it. Your conspiring to say there is such a game, I say there isn't. The proof I have is past performance of this devolpment team and the company as a whole. Your proof is you know some guy. Yea, you did me in good!
Btw, What movies and screens and ??? Sense 2006 there hasn't been and those look just like the ones from 2004, whatever your smok'n pass it over! For a guy that has the "in" of some people at a company that is supposibly developing this, you sure have no clue on what recent means.
"The monster created isn't by the company that makes the game, it's by the fans that make it something it never was"
I think the main thing to remember is this : Game is severly outdated, it isn't in BETA yet, not much new info from them, their bi weekly updates suck, they moved to greece to save money so they arent as rich as some people may think, Brannoc is a waste of life.

This guy's full time job is discrediting DF or what? Or is it some kind of Black PR? Really man, wtf are u trying to prove?
Oh, I would believe me. It's just that everything else looks like shit or yet another grind.

Still, interesting.
Hehe, yeah thats why I follow DF. There is nothing else coming up that I would want to play. It's just more of the same EQ/WOW based, instanced, freedom restricted, shit... cept for DF

True or not .Darkfall is nothing more then a dressed up skeleton.
Its dead with a few animations kept together to sell the "idea"
I mean come on it started development even before daoc hit beta and has made almost no progress.
"The monster created isn't by the company that makes the game, it's by the fans that make it something it never was"
Whatever you say.
Whatever you say.

"The monster created isn't by the company that makes the game, it's by the fans that make it something it never was"
Well that might have been true, if it wasn't for the 30+ people working on the game of whom I know several personally, and the fact that people have visited their offices several times, and they post regular news/screens/movies.

Well that might have been true, if it wasn't for the 30+ people working on the game of whom I know several personally, and the fact that people have visited their offices several times, and they post regular news/screens/movies.

Tell them,if you get the chance, we are cheering for them m8. Nothing would please me more than DF kicking AoC's a**
