I thought that would be a good mechanic too, but it's possible that Mythic intentionally wants to push characters toward the end-game tiers.

Being able to de-level would slightly reduce numbers in those final tiers, so perhaps they wanted to get people to level their characters up to play with their friends.

We'll have to see how it works out, I really liked the CoH/V sidekick system but perhaps WAR will work without something like that.

People who have proposed the deleveling are also the people who usually want twinking and the ability to turn of xp gain.  They are just trying to run around that system.  Chicken mechanic is great.

Yeah, pretty much, cause even de-leveling to the highest lvl of that tier u could still cause quite a disruption to other players and ruin their enjoyment.  I love the chicken rule, and it fits with the humor of the game!

It doesn't go against what "Warhammer stands for."  Warhammer is replete with humor.

I like the chicken rule, I hope it stays, and I hope that I will be a part of killing a 100 chicken raid and also be a part of a 100 chicken raid.  Sounds like great fun!

Warhammer is about dark humor not the rubber chicken sort.  Which is this?

In a game that is level based and item centric it would be very stupid to have a PK system.  In order to be fun a player needs to have a chance at surviving an encounter which doesn't happen when you can 1 or 2 hit a guy.  PKing has a place in games but not these kinds of games.

As far as the chicken raiding goes: did EA Mythic say that you'll be able to do HP damage as a chicken?

1HP DMG I believe!  So its gonna be hilarious seeing mass chicken raids in low tiers trying to kill ppl!

I looked it up.  You get a peck ability that does 1 HP damage and you have 1 HP health.

Does dying as a chicken effect the victory points in the RvR campaign?

No you need to be identified as a coward if you go around being a punk, and a mandatory chicken suit's a great idea.

They should add that into the Constitution.  Tie up lawless d-bags in the town square in chicken suits, so we can throw eggs and rocks, point fingers and laugh at them.

I truly look forward to the day that a large Alliance of guilds gets bored and takes 500 or so top line folks to the newbie zone for a massive flockstyle gankfest. It will be the funniest thing ever seen. Especially if its in the Tome of Knowledge to have a certain number of kills in chicken form.

  • kitsunegirlkitsunegirl Member Posts: 525

Youre actually turned into a chicken if you gank lowbies? Any other penalties?

Nah, if you enter an RvR Tier that you have out-leveled  if you enter it, 10 sec later you get turned into a chicken with 1 hp  & 1 atk power!

This is to prevent high level players from coming down to lower tiers and disrupting the lower level players during their RvR.

    Tiers are:

    Tier 1 = Levels 1-10

    Tier 2 = Levels 11-20

    Tier 3 = Levels 21-30

    Tier 4 = Levels 31-40

So if you are lvl 11 and try to enter a tier one area you get turned into a chicken!  If you leave the tier u get turned back into yourself!

I think this system is brilliant so as stated higher level players are basically forced to stay in their areas besides coming down and pecking at your ankles for humor!

There will be something in the ToK to unlock!  Has not been said but has been hinted at!  As hilarious as an event like that probably happening alot I would expect there to be a ToK unlock!  Sorta like the hinted at "AFK running into a wall for 3+ hours" has also been mentioned at as an unlock...

Now with the system you stay yourself until you attack someone correct?

No. It has nothing to do with attacking. It has to do with your level and the area you are in.  Too high for the area, *poof* chicken.

Let me just add that recent info is that the chicken rule DOES NOT apply to tier 3....

This makes sense since it also seems that it won't be exactly 10 levels per tier. A recent interview on keep sieges says they'll be guarded with NPCs of max level for that tier - and that is lvl 12 for tier 1 and lvl 23 for tier 2.

    http://war.warcry.com/news/view/81871-Keeps-and-Sieges

So I suppose tier 3 is going to be integrated into the endgame as a kind of an intro for tier 4 play but still directly contributing. According to this info tier 3  guards will be lvl 40, just like tier 4 ones. I imagine tier 3 is going to be 23-35 while tier 4 is the true "endgame" from say 36-40 when your advancement really begins.

Imo the game is made with endgame in mind. I suspect that leveling is going to be quite fast and the first 2 tiers are going to be more like an introduction - just some time to get acquainted with your class before the real game starts.

Once you reach max level your "apprenticeship" ends and you can begin advancing your character in earnest through whopping 80 levels of renown, guild levels, tome unlocks... This is quite logical if you consider that tier 4 zones take at least as much area as tiers 1, 2 and 3 put together.

I believe it really cool since leveling has become a right chore in most MMORPGs. Players are habitually rushing through levels asap so they can begin playing and really enjoying the game at max level.  "The Game begins at endgame" - most of the time playing a mmorpg you spend at the max level. Mythic obviously decided to shorten the "chore" and blow up the max level content. It is almost a kind of a hidden level-less system, or at least a step in that direction.

Nices....I like!  ...and damn 80 lvls of renown...holy frick!

The Chicken rule applies to All Tiers but Tier 4, it'd make no sense to leave the Tier 3 people unprotected from Tier 4 people.  There are NO keeps in Tier 1.  If you watch the videos it explains keeps don't arrive until Tier 2.

Nah, I'm absolutely certain there's no chickenization in tier 3. I'll dig around to find the quote...

    Here it is:

Icona: Are there any level limits for the different RvR areas within the 4 tiers? 4 Areas sounds a little bit rough for 40 levels as there would always be tons of people bigger than you.

[WAR]Wheeler: There are level ranges for each Tier to ensure that high level players can’t steamroll the lowbies. If you’re above that level, you’ll get chickenized (heavily debuffed and turned into a chicken). This applies for Tier 1 and 2 but at Tier 3 or higher, there are no level caps planned at this time.

    http://www.keenandgraev.com/?p=749

So... you get turned into a chicken if you're above the level cap for the tier... There is no level cap for tier 3 (now that's a surprise!)  ergo you don't get chickenized there.

This is just another argument supporting the notion that the difference in relative character power won't be as large as in other MMORPGs... Which makes sense since this is a primarily PvP rather than PvE game.

... as for keeps, there are going to be battlefield objectives in tier 1 that will be configured as a kind of proto-keeps... They will follow the basic keep mechanics but they won't have walls - and of course they'll have some guards around to make midnight raiding harder.

There are plenty of games out if you want to gank. I suggest joining one of those.

I think this whole "this game is mostly pvp, you want pve go elsewhere" nonsense needs to stop. Its going to mislead potential players into going with some other game. And we want players, we want pve'ers too, believe it or not. The frontlines people (the pvpers) are not going to want to take out alot of time to do all the pve quests to help their war effort.

Barnett wouldnt get all giddy about all those quests he described in hilarious detail if the game was "mostly pvp." It, I believe is equal amounts of both. Otherwise, why would we get told that we can play the entire game without pvping once?

I know you guys mean well (or I want to think you do), but please stop with that. Find some other way to say it so that its not going to make all the pve'ers hide in other games. Look at me, if I hadnt taken the time to post the thread I did, I would still be thinking this is a mostly pvp game with little to no pve.

Agreed with above poster, i love both, Getting a good fun pvp that isnt crap in a BG or in a little arena but is a full on WAR is a great way to pvp and owning towers and such ect i could keep going but you get the idea.

But i also Love raiding at the same time and the best part is that raiding and PvE both effect the WAR effort.

So very true!  Thats kinda why I started a mostly PvE guild!  I know there are players out there that like to PvE more than just PvP all the time!  There is a ton of PvE content in this game and I want you for my guild if thats what you would like to focus on!  hehe

On that same note, i wonder how the "PvE " specs will turn out. Such as the Shield spec of a Tank or the healing spec of a healer, you get the idea. Will these still be valid in PVP. I know how a healer can be effective but a tank cant do any dps hopefully it will have something good in pvp. Maybe making taun actually make a attack player go for you.
